@@LaFlor718 yess! I try to gently rub and wipe away my mascara (waterproof mascara is no joke) and any lip products, then just cleanse normally. don't use much makeup on general, but I just don't believe that the cleanser I have (which focuses more on cleansing skin rather than makeup removal) will properly remove any waterproof stuff. @@passionadams640 I started using the tea tree Dr. Bronner’s - Pure-Castile Liquid Soap that Casandra used in one of her videos. I use the ordinary niacinimide & zinc and the ordinary moisturizer. After seeing Casandras videos, I also visited a dermatologist and she took a look at my face and told me specifically that I didn’t have cystic acne, and that I just wasn’t cleansing my makeup off properly. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well I feel like it would be more fair to use the wipe as the first cleanse followed by a gel cleanser. Otherwise, you should just compare the wipe against the gel cleanser (exclude the oil cleanse). Because if you clean twice with any product, will pretty much be superior to clean once with the same product.
@hanamarcetic5923

I was thinking that she should at least use two wipes, I never use just one if i have THAT much make up. It's not a fair comparison, two steps full of products to cleanse one side vs only one wipe? 🤨
@jahbern
@jahbern Жыл бұрын
I get what you’re saying, but the whole point of makeup wipes is that they are convenient BECAUSE they are supposed to be a one step/one product/one wipe alternative to proper cleansing off makeup, which would involve double cleansing or removing makeup separately before cleansing. If you have to use two wipes or if you have to simplify a proper cleansing technique to make them comparable, then you are making the exact point against wipes. You know? If the claim is one wipe = proper cleansing, then you have to use one wipe vs proper cleansing. To be sure, people who know one wipe doesn’t work use more than one wipe - and you also wouldn’t claim that just a single cleanse without removing makeup would be as effective as cleansing properly, right? So this isn’t really a video aimed at you. You know that wipes aren’t miraculous.
@tinasung3814
@tinasung3814 Жыл бұрын
@@jahbern You can turn the 1 wipe over and wipe again on the other side (which is what most people would do if the first pass still left makeup on the face). That would still follow your rule with just using 1 wipe. That might make the most sense then both method will get 2 passes on cleaning the surface.

actually, the comparison would yield similar results, from my understanding. the first step (oil-based) in the double-cleanse method is what actually gets the makeup and spf off, by breaking them down. the second step (water-based) is moreso for ridding of dirt and extra oils (from both the cleanser and your skin.)

I always use micellar water because I have to be REALLY really careful when it comes to makeup wipes. My skin is very sensitive, and I'm also severely allergic to anything perfumed. I used to try makeup wipe after makeup wipe hoping one would work and not cause me to swell up before I gave up and opted for micellar water instead. That followed by a scrub cleanser has been my go-to for years, and it may not work for everyone's skin type, but it's the only thing I can trust to not make my eyes swell shut or have terrible eczema patches appear on my cheeks or eyelids

so are double cleansing systems tho? you go in with a micellar water or cleansing balm to get rid of the makeup and then wash your skin to get rid of buildup/actually clean your skin. issue w/ wipes is that they don’t remove as much makeup, majority are non biodegradable so they create a lot of waste, and majority have alcohol in them so they overly dry out your skin

I use makeup wipes to get some of the make up off initially, but never solely rely on it. I use makeup removing oil, micellular water and then a cleanser afterwards bc my skin is very acne prone and I need to get every last bit of it off. Thanks for running this experiment for us 💜

used makeup wipes for yearsss! specifically the Neutrogena ones. Then a few years ago I switched to a makeup eraser reusable wipe I got as a gift.my acne dramatically cleared up and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative. I just use a micellar cleansing water for waterproof makeup but otherwise all you need is water!

I use them both. Once I'm finished using the makeup wipes, I'll go in with my cleanser. And if I have a lot of time, I'll go in with an oil-based cleanser, then use the makeup wipes, then the cleanser.

Wipes when I’m lazy or depressed, but usually both. I have sensitive eyes and don’t like getting soap in them plus I usuall do pretty dramatic eyeliner so I use wipes and then use a actual cleanser.

I usually do the cleansing oil makeup remover, and then a cleansing face wash (twice, and use hot then cold water). Then I use a moisturizing toner, before applying my acne treatment and moisturizer. By the toner, I usually have no make up on my face, but even the makeup removing oil doesn’t take it off until I fully wash my face, even with light to medium make up I usually wear.

Yes this is partly why people shouldn’t use makeup wipes but also they can clog you’re pores so try and use cleansers or something better. Also if your haven’t already can you try micellar water on one side and cleanser on the other? Thank you❤️

I mostly use makeup wipes to remove most of the makeup and then do a double cleanse, and this usually does it for it don’t have to be either or. Although I have been using like cotton pads with a micelles water mixed with baby oil in place of makeup wipes then use a cleanser to wash my face and this has been much better 😁

I went on so much medication for my skin (I’m only 16), including Accutane, and didn’t really notice a difference with anything. Around the time I finished my Accutane treatment I switched from makeup wipes to micellar water - and the difference could be seen in a number of days. I can’t believe none of the dermatologists asked what products I was using, the makeup wipes were definitely the problem, and I often find myself wishing I used micellar water sooner as to prevent some of the scarring I have today🥲 my skin looks AMAZING though (also helped by CeraVe) and I’m never going back🤞🏼

I use a wipe to get off the bulk of my makeup, then double cleanse in the shower - baking soda cleanser to gently exfoliate any remaining makeup, then a cleanser for general skin treatment. (I use tea tree or turmeric for oily skin.) The steam obviously helps open the pores, plus I'll do my cleansing while my conditioner is sitting so I only have to do 1 big rinse right at the end.

If you want to get off stubborn and waterproof makeup then just use an oil based cleanser followed by a gel/foam wash. I like to use a silicone removal pad too. Even micellar water isn’t going to be as effective as an oil. Make-up wipes are by their nature irritating as you’re rubbing the skin in a much harsher way and they’re not as effective so you go and rub it more. Also, always double cleanse. Make-up remover followed by a cleanser/wash. Face wipes are supposed to be a travel/convenience thing, not an everyday thing.

Looks like both is the correct answer. Use the wipe first to get the majority off, then double cleanse to remove the rest of the makeup, then micellar water to remove the cleanser residue and any remaining tough makeup like waterproof mascara. Then toner, treatment & serum (I mix together on the back of my hand right before I'm about to apply, which makes a very small amount of product go a LOT farther), & moisturizer. Add SPF if daytime, use a thicker moisturizer for night time or winter. I have pretty oily/combo and acne prone skin. I've been doing my skincare this way for probably 3 years now and my skin has been doing great, plus my products last longer.

I like to use both. Makeup wipes help to take off the bulk and very sticky stuff (like the eye-makeup, it did well on that while double cleansing didn't get it all off). Then I only have to cleanse once and I'm less likely to get a bunch of makeup in my eyes, hair, etc.

Reusable cloths (you can just cut up an old soft tshirt!) and micelear water plus a double cleanse!! You can do then in any order you like, but I prefer double cleansing first to get the majority off and then going over nooks and cranies with the cloth. You can also use toner right after.

I agree with so many- use the wipe first, then a regular cleanser/face wash - and if really worried, end with micellar water and cotton pads. That said, I don't usually wear makeup anymore and I'm often lazy at night- so I just use micellar water and pads, washing my face more properly when I take a shower. (solo mom of a 3 yr old, to tired for more)

I use make up only on VERY special occasions. Most times it's make up wipe first, then oil cleanser, then micellar water, then a normal cleanser, then another make up wipe to make sure it's all off (sometimes it isn't) and then a cleanser again. A whole bunch of moisturiser after

Before I used to use wipes from honest which I think are the best and then use a cleanser. But then I survived severe head trauma that gave me severe MS and I can have seizures from being wet. I have to be really warm and then being wet is ok but if I am room temp and get wet I can have seizures. So Wipes are now essential if I don't want to warm up the bathroom to wash my face or shower. But I don't know why you would only use wipes. I feel more clean when I use a wipe and wash, which is what I prefer. It was a great idea to use UV because I swear I can feel it when there is still stuff on my skin. I think I am just sensitive.

Yesss. But know that makeup wipes still have uses! They’re great for quickly fixing bleeding eyeliner/mascara or helping someone fix their makeup in the bathroom! I remember at prom I helped a friend put on makeup who usually didn’t wear any and she decided after dinner and pictures that the mascara felt really weird and she wanted to take it off before going to the dance. No problem, I have a wipe! Saved her night because she didn’t have to be uncomfortable dancing.

Really interesting experiment, I find that make up wipes don't really get off all the junk of the day especially sunscreen, so I use one to get off the worst crap if I've been out and have sunscreen and make up on, and then follow with a proper cleanser and toner, or just use a cleanser and toner. They are really good though if you are really tired as its better than sleeping with sunscreen and concealer on, especially round the eyes.

If you have any eye gland issues (which leftover makeup can cause or exacerbate), eye doctors recommend to cleanse the eye area with special little cleanser wipes meant for that area as well, which would get your double cleanse side to perfect if used as a last step. It’s not healthy for the eyes for little bits of eye makeup to be left unknowingly in the lash line.

Whoooa, how red your face was after washing via Wishful 👀! I've been using Neutrogena wipes for 10+ years. Strictly for my matte red lipstick. Wiping my face for makeup removal with a wipe just sounds weird. I personally use a face tool/brush along with my cleanser for my face. But everyone's skin's sensitivity is totally different 🧏🏻‍♀️

Wipes are what I’d suggest for hospital stays and long distance travel. You can also soak some cotton pads (or similar stuff) in micellar water to use after the wipes. It may technically still not be as good as actual double cleansing, but it has its places.
