The disaster curses were great villains for the introduction of the series. Yet without Kenjaku didn't have that great of a plan to begin with. They would have been fine with Sukuna rising and destroying them all. In the end everyone got taken out by another monster: Jogo < Sukuna Mahito < Kenjaku Hanami < Gojo Dagon < Toji

I think that the thematic power the disaster curses represent played a large part in how strong they were and the general order in which they are ranked. Hanami and dagon are the weaker of the group as they represent the fear of nature and oceans which, while very present in humanity arent always prevalent in peoples lives. Theyre more situational fears that occur when humans are outside of civilization, activities like diving sailing and hiking. So naturally they would be somewhat less powerful and more static when it comes to power growth very much in line with nature and the oceans being non moving entities. Jogo is the fear of fire, which can often be found more prevalent in human society through forest fires or just fires in general which can be seen alot in how he fights being fast and agile with possibility for explosive power growth if sukuna hadnt snuffed out his flame and if he hadnt become "humble" in a way. Mahito however, being the representation of hatred humans have for each other while it isnt as flashy as something like jogos fire it is always present in humanity and ever increasing. The ability for humanity to create mass suffering towards one another is constantly evolving and growing which is why they probably made him leader. They knew mahitos power ceiling was not only alot higher but also alot easier to exploit that the others.

Mere somewhere on twitter Hanami's domain is explained. When the domain opens, the first effect is similar the flower peddles Hanami used against Gojo and Yuji to distract them long enough to take Jogo's head. Those flower peddles weakens the opponents will to fight. In addition to that, opponents are attack by beams of light (intense sun rays) which burn opponents to ashes. Its actually more busted than Dagons domain. I feel Hanami and Dagon are basically interchageable in terms of strength.

That's why his power initially wasn't concerning; he got stronger as the fight went on. Based on that, I don't think Nanami being unable to harm Dagon says as much as you're implying

I mean the debate is always Mahito Vs Jogo. I think it's hard to quantify how strong Mahito is in his final form because everything happened too quickly, but I think Jogo just edges him out. Jogo is the fastest of the Disaster Curses. I don't think that's debatable? On top of that, Mahito's biggest strength is his shapeshifting when it comes to his durability which is negated by Jogo's fire. I also think that the "in character" argument plays a big role. Mahito likes to play around where as Jogo takes fights more seriously. Sure Mahito has a 0.2 second domain, but how much damage could it actually do in the span of time to a cursed spirit as strong as Jogo. Nanami could resist transfiguration against a weaker Mahito so I have no reason to believe that Jogo wouldn't be able to somewhat do the same thing. And when it comes Domain Refinement, it can go either way. Sure Mahito improved quickly and could do a 0.2 domain, but I don't think that necessarily means his was more refined. I think if Mahito survived past Shibuya and had a few days with his new form, he definitely would have been stronger than Jogo. I just don't think he quite got there.

Dagon is the weakest. He was being overwhelmed by Naobito despite being stronger than Nanami and Maki (which isn't saying much). He couldn't easily kill them in his domain, and struggled to take back control of his Domain once Megumi entered the fight--Nanami pointing out that they would win against Dagon as long as he didn't get his sure-hit back, and this is with Naobito (one armed) and Maki 2v1ing him. And while in his Domain, Dagon is at 120% his max output. Naobito was straight up capable of soloing 120% Dagon if sure-hit wasn't a factor. To put it into perspective, Naoya, who is capable of using the same CT as Naobito and POSSIBLY relative to him in power (being significantly above the rest of the Zen'in members) was defeated by Choso despite the latter having no knowledge or understanding of the 24 frame CT. But Naoya's level of power isn't exactly clear despite being at least in the upper Grade 1 region. Hanami would be next. It is the most durable out of them all, and its Cursed Technique is more problematic than Dagon's water and Shikigami manipulation. Hanami took several Black Flashes, fought Todo and Yuji for a while and sustained more damage, and was still capable of summoning a Domain and potentially winning the fight if Gojo hadn't undone the veil. Yuji definitely got stronger during Shibuya, but I doubt he was at a higher level by the time he engaged Choso--who noted that 3 hits was enough to greatly damage him... and we know this guy tanked many blows from Naoya later and was fine. It's kind of a toss up between Jogo and Mahito. Once Mahito realized his true power, he was noted to be capable of easily killing Yuji if it wasn't for the Black Flash he took right before the transformation. And on top of that, he became more durable than Choso (enhanced with hardened blood--tanking Yuji's punch) and his speed was difficult for Yuji to track. Jogo undoubtedly has more destructive power, but he is less durable than Mahito and Hanami. But yeah, this is what I think.

This is a solid enough analysis. For me, I think that what pushes Jogo over the line as a bit stronger is Sukuna comparing Jogo favourably to sorcerers he fought 1000 years ago. In other words sorcerers like Uro(Sukuna wiped out the squad she was in charge of after she was executed, but its more than likely that it was filled with sorcerers on her level). Being comparable to sorcerers like Uro put Jogo on a level where(outside of Yuta's RCT), he could have a serious chance of giving someone like Yuta a hard time.(in comparison, Yuji immediately shat himself at the prospect of fighting Yuta, and was completely overwhelmed by only a partially manifested Rika)

Mahito got hyped by literally everyone for his potential. Hanami got hyped by Mahito who reckoned that Hanami could be even stronger than he is currently. Kenjaku mentioned that Jogo still had room to grow and Sukuna reckoned that Jogo could have reached his level if he had a different mindset. I don't remember Dagon getting anything like this.

I don’t really agree with Dagon over Hanami. While yes Dagon is more durable, outside of Domain Expansion Hanami is far more dangerous. Hanami boasts a greater variety of techniques and the roots have the offensive power to punch through his own shell which is just more deadly than Dagon’s water. Hanami also possesses the ability to levitate on the wooden balls and travel underground for mobility. Hanami’s best edge though is the Cursed Buds which are practically game over on most characters in JJK. In the scan you showed Akutamai also attributes Jogo’s superiority over Hanami to an elemental advantage not actual power. Finally we do have an idea of Hanami’s domain. There’s an interview where Akutami talks about what it could’ve been like and the idea is a pasture with the solar beam as the sure hit attack. Even then I don't get how Dagon has better Durability in than Hanami a playful cloud strike from Maki did no damage to Hanami while in Shibya a playful cloud strike from Maki injured Dagon and he had to regenerate. Pre awakened Maki has never explicitly grown in power so we can assume she didn't grow that much in between Goodwill and Shibuya especially with Mai holding her back. Not even going to bring up Black Flash amping your stats making Yuji much stronger and bro tanked a P Cloud strike from Todo in GW and we know Todo is definitely much stronger that Pre awakened Maki. Also Dagon is explained as having boundless HP what does that even have to do with Dura I was confused when he brought that up if anything wouldn't that mean Dagon can easily regenerate from attacks rather than tank them?

The disaster curses are kinda like the 6 paths of pain in terms of entry of being able to contend with the top tiers at least in terms of curses (and some sorcerers). Even hanami, the weakest is still very durable and it took 2 hard hitting prodigies both blessed by black flash to push him. Hell people underestimate dagon just cuz of what toji did to him. It's the same situation jogo gets put in who is DEFINITELY super underrated and a solid top tier curse

Jogo still wins out in speed and raw cursed power output, especially in a wide area, but Mahito is just so well balanced and has some of the best hax in the series, in general combat Mahito is far more deadly. His toughness especially, in his transformed form was already great as we saw it, but you have to remember his soul was at 40% from losing his double, he was hit with multiple black flashes and barraged with attacks from 2 upper Grade 1 level sorcerers, and a black flash after using his domain, which disabled his technique and temporarily made him very vulnerable. Had he been at full health and blocked it without being tricked, Yuji's black flash would still mess him up, but not incapacitate him. And that's for Maximum energy, of an upper Grade 1 level, at 120% output, filled with an insane level of despair boosting his cursed energy, hitting a black flash, which would mess up anyone. On top of that he physically overpowered and outsped that Yuji, and has cursed technique and Domain proficiency on the level of the series' all time geniuses. Jogo might be able to quickly overwhelm someone by using top speed and powerful attacks, but Mahito is the definition of deadly.

I disagree with Jogo being weaker than Mahito, while Mahito is way more durable than Jogo, Jogo did showed that he is very good at regenerating himself. The fact that he also fought 15 finger sukuna to me implies at least a speed equal to naobito. I would argue Jogo domain is at minimum equal to that of Mahito so the clash would end in a draw but we also know that whoever gets injured first in the clash will lose to the other domain, so even if they are equal in a domain fight due to Jogo's speed he would've been hit first and would have lost the clash. Also Jogo can use domain amplification and mahito can't. Due to Jogo's speed this would mean that Jogo can beat as much as he want mahito without being touch and due to domain amplification mahito wouldn't be able to use his CT which means the damage he would receive would actually hurt him while in domain amplification. I do agree that had Mahito a little bit more of time he would've grown stronger than Jogo but at the time they died I would bet everything on Jogo.

The only thing I have to disagree with is the Dagon using his Domain and it working on Toji or not. Your bring up the part where he’ll be registered as a wall or building, which is true. Mahito easily kills Jogo.

endless hp just means the longer it takes or the amount of hits it takes to land critical damages to someone. Dagon wasn't really getting damaged by naobito, he just couldn't react fast enough to his speed and kept getting hit so he got fed up and opened his domain. Regardless tho yea the difference between naobito and nanami is significant, even dagon prioritized 70% of his domain's sure hit to naobito specifically

Very funny how noone even try to compare a potential fully realised Mahito yo Gojo but rather Sukuna. Because ain’t no way he is touching Gojo without domain Amplification or Domain expansion. And with domain Amplification he can’t use Idle transfiguration. And Gojo’s domain is top level refinement at the same level as 1000 years experience 20 fingers Cursed Energy Genius Sukuna. And Gojo is infinitely stronger in terms of CE output and reserves than Mahito will ever be. And Gojo can exorcise him just by filling up Mahito with Reversed Cursed Energy. I fucking hate it when people say that everyone dodged maximum meteor last second. Panda pretty much says it outright that it hit and killed him, when we see he after Jogo and Sukuna fought he's in his guerilla form and he says that he has only 2 souls left. To kill Panda you have to kill all of his souls, so kill him 3 times. And we don't even see the other random guys later on, they could've died. And Kusakabe didn't necessarily dodge it since he was buried underground. If I'm on a bus and the bus explodes and I live it doesn't mean that I dodged the explosion, just that I got lucky. Even if he did dodge which you could say, it's not even an anti feat, Kusakabe is fast as fuck. He was able to protect Miwa and block maximum uzumaki last second, the WEAKER uzumaki Yuta had to use a binding vow against. Maximum Meteor is being trashed on all the time for no reason. But tbh I think we've seen more growth/crafty thinking mid battle from sorcerers like Yuta, Kenjaku, Gojo and Sukuna, Maki, Hakari etc. Also I think the author said if yuji didn't land the final black flash imbued with all of his cursed emergy he would've immediately died, but you have to remember Yuji was weakened in that moment as well and while I do think his ISBODK is sick, I dont think outputting 2.5x the amount of cursed energy as a weakened Yuji did in that moment is really that impressive or a feat that couldn't easily be replicated and in reailty thats all you'd need to defeat Mahito.

Let’s follow a quick line of reasoning here. Jogo perception blitzes both maki and nanami and heavily outpaces naobito. Naobito should be relative or above Naoya in speed, using the projection technique. Naoya blitzed Choso and yuji. And Mahito was outpacing yuji, but even in final form never actually blitzed him. Jogo is now faster than Mahito. Jogo also has the attack potency to at worst erupt entire buildings into flame and at best level large city areas. Jogo should just blitz Mahito and burn him up, the only win con Mahito could possibly get would be immediately opening a .2, which would be out of character.
