Craig's courses are great & his ECQC course is a must for anyone that carries a firearm. Being able to access a blade with either hand from your waistline & especially whike seated is such a huge asset & that's where a blade like the Disciple or Clinch Pick can be a lifesaver!

Damn you got some good moves. I’ve always passed over reverse edged knives. I’ll be rethinking that. Great video.

Waistband carry is still the best option imo. Your hands naturally just go there under pressure.

It is especially true that a immediate response may not happen if your knife is very sharp. Because with the adrenaline your aponent may not even feel the mortal wound... so never stop until it's completely over.

As a Canadian you can't carry a knife for the purpose of self-defense. The disciple makes for a good apple peeler. Rather than both, I'd suggest just one paired up for a more utility knife or multitool. Your SD knife should never be used to regular tasks, keep that factory edge razor sharp.

I've looked at both the Clinch Pick and the Disciple, and I completely agree with your assessment that a trainer should be factored into one's purchase. I would have to do some work to break my habit of going to a sabre grip automatically. But either knife would be a definite upgrade to the CRKT Minimalist Wharncliffe I currently carry in that role.

Thank you for the review. I've been looking for a EDC self-defense fixed blade that is legal and very good tactically and I think I just found it; I have the Cold Steel SR1 Lite and it is awesome but it isn't the fastest deploy I want for self-defense although I would definitely use it in a self-defense situation. Thanks again. 😎👍

Cool... But... No thumb ramp/guard? Not even jimping? How do you not slide your thumb over that back-edge? I don't think I could ever transition to a back-edge like that without any 'help' from the design. There needs to be a Disciple 2. Thanks for the video 😁 IMHO obviously. 😉

I would LOVE to replace my carry knives with Shivworks' products, but in the meantime I'll just get- by with inexpensive daggers like the Cold Steel mini-leatherneck dagger and the SWHRT9B... at just $20 each, I get both 'push' and 'pull' and my thumb stays safe. I'll admit, I don't really understand why anyone that carries an edged-weapon doesn't choose a doubled-edged tool (dagger) as the most logical choice.

There’s definitely a certain way to hold the disciple. Reverse grip fighting is definitely what it’s made for. Thanks for sharing🙂👍👍

What exactly do you plan on poking so hard your grip strength will fail? Even if you strike a rib there’s a good chance you’ll cut right through it - the autopsy from that Apple River incident showed one person had multiple ribs cut fully through.

I won't pay $133 for a knife that size made in China when I can get the Tops Street Scalpel 2 version of that for the same price or cheaper made in America. If I'm going to get a Chinese made version of that knife I'll get the Eafengrow EF107 or the MASALONG kni232 both in the $35 range and both excellent knives. Thanks for sharing anyways Daniel its a good knife but just overly priced. Stay safe.

I like the clinch pick better. Expect to cut up your pants and clothes drawing the double edge clinch pick. Maybe yourself too easier than with a single edge.

What do you think of this vs the clinch pick 2.0?
@411Outdoors
@411Outdoors Жыл бұрын
My thoughts on the Disciple versus the clinch pick is number one in the disciple is more uncomfortable to carry. It’s the price one would pay to have a bigger blade. I think they make a great combo carry for those who like two blades. I’m slightly a little more favorable to the click pick because I can even feel it on me

When one only has one knife it’s like putting the same clothes on every day but if we have a wardrobe full of choices then we can throw it all in an oversized backpack with a fishing pole, gold panning until you get enough to build that special ring for her 😂 we were meant to live off the land not have city hands.

Do you use your self defense blades for your utility work? Or do you carry a primary blade?

No sir I leave them nice and sharp. If I believe I’m going to be doing some utility work that day I’ll carry mora with me. Either that or a little pocket knife.

There’s no if it’s not meant to be a thumb brace knife , just like to clinch pick is not. The guard is where the index finger and knuckle is.
