Avant-garde composer William Basinski has worked extensively in numerous genres, with much of my favorite work belonging to his contributions to ambient, tape music, and drone. The Disintegration Loops, what many consider to be his magnum opus, is a four album anthology that spans several hours. The first track in the work has a film dedicated to it titled "Disintegration Loop 1.1", consisting of footage filmed on 9/11. A mainstay in my personal "ambient cinema canon", I explain the story and emotion behind the work.

It's very interesting that the melody is almost identical to Zimmer's "Stay", from Interstellar, scoring the scene with the truck leaving the house and the launch countdown taking place in audio O.S.. Zimmer plays with the transition between a major and minor scale on the same melody. It seems to me that it's a purposeful hommage. I love your channel btw

What a great observation! Zimmer certainly knows his craft inside out so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was familiar with Basinski's work. I really appreciate your words 🙌
