@@KICK-EEZ the horror stories about Front Sight were the repeated marketing efforts. The training, while it taught the out-dated weaver stance, was safe, and very focused on teaching solid fundamentals. There were lecture classes on color code of mental awareness, high-stress decision making, legal liabilities of defensive shooting, etc. that were held during lunchtime or after the range day had ended. A two-day handgun course fired around 250 rounds and the four-day course fired about 600. I found that there was a point in time where I knew I needed to train elsewhere to improve my skill set and move to the next level, but I will never regret the training I received at Front Sight. It was organized, safe and gave me a great base to grow from.

A large undertaking for sure. Safety being paramount. The experience will not be cheap yet should folks be serious about firearms, their own skill level, security of their family community this has the potential of being a place of interest. The many recent events throughout this country definitely will put this facility high on a list for those wanting to help find resolve within themselves. Can understand the magnitude of what she referred to in the beginning on the number of people visiting that area. If they can get even 2%, then it will be enough to keep the doors open. I wish them well in this new venture.

Front sight training was great for beginner shooters. The problem with Front Sight was the unsustainable financial tactics of the owner--not the training. The firearms training could have certainly evolved, but it was generally solid with good instructors. The classroom lectures were minimal, very high quality, and a nice break from the elements. It was sad to see if fall, but many members figured it was only a matter of time. It will be a challenge for the new owners to run this successfully, but I wish them luck.

It's been many years since I was there, but it still looks much the same. I thought they did a good job of their 4-day pistol class. Piazza had grand plans for the place, but it was pretty much a pyramid scheme. It would be nice if they put in the RV park they had talked about. The long range shooting site over the top of the breeching area seems a little odd. But then, the breeching training place was a little weird. Not a bad facility, I hope they do something good with it rather than starting up another racket. I wasn't too impressed with the literature they sent out after taking over the place.

Their prices are ridiculous. You have to have an annual membership of $300-500 per person whether you use it or not, and you have to pay $250 per day for any class. That is the "deal" they gave Front Sight members, and for only the first two years. The annual membership costs more after two years and for non-Front Sight members. That doesn't include rentals or ammo. I think I'll try the NRA Wittington Center. Its $350 per day for any class and no membership required; and the class offerings are better. Front Sight had amazing classes (both options and quality). I know the Front Sight business model was unsustainable, but Prairie Fire's prices are absurdly expensive for what they offer. Their current offering of classes is minimal.

The best thing about the training offered by Front Sight was that every offering was open to everyone. It didn't matter if you were civilian, military, law enforcement, or other government official. There were no "law enforcement or military" only courses. It seems like with the way this Olympics Shooter describes it, Prairie Fire, IS in fact going to be excluding civilians from certain courses or training that is ONLY for non-civilians. As a previous 8 year Lifetime Front Sight member who had attended numerous courses, it is heartbreaking to see our old resort look like a ghost town. For years, Front Sight was bustling with students year round and the planned resort that Prairie Fire wants to develope should absolutely include full hook-up RV accommodations if they want to show former Front Sight members they are interested in our training dollars. It was a long time in the works and should be a high priority for Prairie Fire to develop in a timely manner. This should be developed simultaneously with the planned hotel. To eliminate the RV accommodations sends a clear message that Prairie Fire has no interest in regaining the former Front Sight members/investors as a part of their growth model.

The quality of the training at Front Sight was not good at all. I was a life long member there and I took a few classes and was very disappointed with their old and antiquated tactics they were teaching. I got much higher quality training going to one off training courses with nationally knows trainers. It’s no wonder Front Sight failed. They had a poor quality product with a bunch of old timers that didn’t want to adapt with the changing times.

Every range I've shot at here in AZ has a well managed 'main range' where anyone can shoot under the control of a range master with seriously monitored and enforced rules for safety and ceasefire protocol. In order to gain access to the 'expert' areas you have to show a history of managed competitive events shooting steel or CQB then you can get a badge displaying your certification that allows you to shoot on any station unsupervised. The old Front Sight was a clusterfuck.

I Spent $2500 for my initial membership, then another $2500 to raise it up to Diamond, then another $500 to bring it up to Guardian. I got about 10 memberships which I sold for $500 each, so I was into this $500. I did 34 classes over the 17 years I was a member so that works out to $14.70 per class. I think I got my moneys worth? The biggest problem I see with Prairie Fire is not keeping the 100,000 to 250,000 previous members. How stoopid can you be? You had a large member base to start with, all you had to do was offer the same classes and add on the stuff you wanted, and charge $50 a day to cover costs. The last time we were there was in April of 2022 and there was 900 people there. IN all the classes we went to over the years there was always at least 200 people in the Big Classroom for lunch. There is only about 4-5 months out of the year that the place is inhabitable, the rest of the year it is either over 100F or near Freezing with 40 MPH winds. In all the videos that Prairie Fire has put out I have yet to see even one person shooting in a class? I see a lot of Pie in the Sky and we're gonna make this Disneyland and blah blah blah. But nothing actually happening? When I hear about the Hotel and RV Facility, and other BS, all I see is the Site Model that was in the Classroom, and now finding out that Piazza is still on as a "Marketing Consultant" really makes me wonder WTF is going on behind the scenes? Front Site was all about "Gun Handling." That's where you went to learn how to shoot your new Pistol, Rifle or Tactical Shotgun. And all of the Instructors could show you how to run anything! Last year they supposedly had some classes scheduled, Beginning Pistol and Carbine (AR15 only) and advanced Pistol and Carbine (again AR15 only) so a Mini 14 or any other rifle is not allowed? Really? All but one of my 15 Rifle classes were shot with guns other than my AR. I even shot one with my Ruger.308 Scout Rifle. But when we went there during the SHOT Show earlier this year, there was no classes going and nobody shooting other than the Factory Guys and Gun Writers. We went back in May and it was nobody shooting at all! I don't see this new Regime making it? And without the previous memberships being reinstated, it is Factually IMPOSSIBLE!!! The simple fact is, "more people on site = more money coming in!" " NO people on site means nothing coming in!!!!! " My .02,,, but I don't think I'm in the minority on this one? Please tell me where I'm goin' wrong here?

But if you want to train with Thunder ranch for example, youre over $600 a day. Id say the cost they are doing is fair, so long as the training is up to date. @@daviddeas6486 $2k initially and he declared bankruptcy shortly after. As soon as proceedings started he started sending out almost extorting emails asking for more money. I fell for the first $500 and then things really went into a tailspin. The emails almost took on a threatening tone. All told, that crook took $2500 of my hard earned money and I got exactly nothing out of it. Living at least a full day drive from the place the membership made sense since it was very inclusive, but I was too dumb to see the “too good to be true” aspect of it. Fool me once…. I’ve sworn off almost any sort of all inclusive member packages since then. It was an expensive but good lesson. But I still think Piazza has some criminal liability for his actions, but it’s not worth more money to go after him. He defrauded a lot of people and I’m pretty sure he laughed all the way to the bank.

What is the business plan and what is the funding? 1-1/2 hours round trip is a lot of travel time unless you are able to stay over. Seems to me that, so far, the concept is mostly pie in the sky. Excluding ANY group from participation would seem to be a form of financial suicide to a business needing funding.
