I remember the ApolloLegend, RWhiteGoose stuff from late 2018. It was all about an open MaP wanting to get on the judging board for the Elite website. Goose was the blocking the Map. So, the MaP released those discord/DMs of Goose making racist jokes. Goose got banned from GDQ and apologized for it. Don't know how the Elite stuff worked out. I don't even know if I'm remembering this right.

@@Rollerrot how dense are you. I am talking about the origin of said essay. Days prior on a live stream his chat was discussing why Matt doesn't go harder on speedrunning. He made a off-hand comment after reading chat saying that he has a life that isn't just consistent of speedrunning all day and that he has a career as a content creator to maintain. A few speedrunners in the community took it to heart like he meant anything negative about it and said some not so nice things. So he got pissed off. I agree that he is easily baited into drama but he doesn't actively seek it. Asperger is his mental disability btw, it makes him unware of social cues and makes it hard for him to converse without being awkward.

its because he has Asperger's you dipshit. He doesn't know how to socialize and his chat is 99% of his socializing for the day cus he dreads in-person human interaction due to his Asperger's. Try existing when you can't find words well without stuttering or rambling every 5-10 seconds as well as get mad at yourself and others during social interactions cus of your own lack of ability to communicate at a moments notice about things like others. Hence why he reads off a script for 99% of his videos addressing things.

if you'd stuck with it a bit longer you might have gotten to the 'why' of it. this guy is kind of a scourge of multiple communities on KZbin and twitch, and has a huge public trail that explains why, having someone put it all together DOES seem creepy and obsessive... until you see how darkviper acts. maybe not your thing, but you're definitely not gonna get it in 8 minutes.

Great in depth summary of this failed specimen's life so far. The only thing I disagree with is I think you're being a bit dense over the points he makes about Asmongold and his 'retroactive consent' towards copyright. "I'm going to commit a crime, it's up to you to tell me if you don't want me to do it again" will never not be a terrible argument. So a near perfect video, much better than the world would ever expect from a Brit. 😏

@@TheBritishRunner Fair enough, that was the answer I expected--just a hint though would help deepen my understanding of your analysis, as DV has some inherently political aspects to his shiteshow; this isn't downplay your pengame by any means! I just believe political ideals tint writing of this kind almost no matter what without sounding like an encyclopedia or medical journal article. Someone like Warlockracy is one of the best in the game as far as blending politics/culture from the perspective of a late/early 20s/30s dissident Russian journalist/historian/slavjank cultural ambassador--many often decry "nO pOlItLTiCs iN mY ViDyA!!!1!" when art inherently has political POV it's author wrote from or intended it to be viewed from. So for someone like Warlockracy to effortlessly discuss and weave in political theory and history when talking about the dirtiest of slavjank and Russian language-locked games.. ehhh, my tangent is that it's certainly possible and transcended bog standard vkdel essayist styling. That alone makes Lock my, and many others, one of the top writers in the medium length (~60-120 minutes) video essays: _Anyhow sorry for that tangent, just curious and wanted to cite an example of someone who stands out with unique POV and approach to writing for narrative focused videos on vidya; something I noticed you initially for and figured you'd like an example even if you don't watch other creators (very different genres covered) I think it was an interesting comparison._ 👍🤓 *Great vid, looking forward to the next part!* 🤓👍

Thx and not really a bad argument to compare walkthroughs or let's plays of games to reaction videos as at their core they serve the same purpose and both transform the original content in similar if not then the same way

@@TheBritishRunner eh i still think video games require a level of interaction that youtube or movies do not. It’s somewhere in between but definitely not the same in my opinion. Let’s plays or game reviews allow alot more interaction from the streamer for the fact that it’s actually a game being played. Everyone has different experiences when playing the same game. While watching youtube content is gonna be the same experience for anyone just going to see the video for themselves.
