I listen to this stuff when I’m out driving making deliveries. I live in the greater Seattle area, which is actually very well-populated with a sprawling urban/suburban center with a population of 10 million+ people, but occasionally I’ll make deliveries out into more rural areas and even locations that are straight up in the middle of the woods, and dinner time is when things are most busy, so it’s usually in the dark. Let me tell you, when you’re driving down deserted, winding country roads with nothing but a black wall of pine trees on either side, the creeps really do start to settle in if you e been listening to stuff about demons and ghosts and whatnot. My mother called me a “masochist” for listening to this stuff while I drive but I love it 😂. Thanks for this content! You keep me from going crazy with boredom!

In the skeptic chapter of this video, I had seen a TED talk of a woman who went through a traumatic experience with a haunted home. She had a gone through all the things that a person would do to free their home of a presence: priests blessing the home and property, blessing the home with sage, etc. But nothing she did ever worked, the paranoia and fear and the occasional sights and sounds of an entity was always present and getting stronger. Fast forward, a friend who worked in the medical field, while listening to her story about was going on in the home, sounded familiar her to her. She asked her friend who was living in the home if she could do something for her to rule out some natural causes of such a phenomenon. One of them was to have her home tested for gas leaks. Sure enough, her home that was built with a natural gas line was leaking into her home causing many of the auditory and visual hallucinations that made the home feel like it was haunted. In fact, the build up of gases in the home was displacing the oxygen to the point that if she stayed at her home any longer she could have died. She experienced fogging thinking, lack of strength and weakness, feelings of dread and despair, feeling as though someone was watching her, etc. it could between the age of the home, the age of their natural gas lines, and whatever could be going with sewage and sewer gas leaks in the home. Could possibly contribute to the phenomena within the home. Here is the link to the TED Talk: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGncmZR8mcR6pq8si=D2iCpgHFqqXxONej

I read the book about them in the 90s and it scared me so bad I couldn't sleep for two nights. Then I had my own haunting later when this young guy who was a creepy peeping Tom three doors down from me killed two women and himself. Only he never left. But that's another story.
@TheTapeLibrary10 ай бұрын
@@moonfire41 I need to hear this story!
@moonfire4110 ай бұрын
Here's my story: This happened in 1991 in a small one level apartment complex in Nampa Idaho. I used to have this young guy in his 20s stalk me. I was always catching him trying to spy on me through any crack of the curtains he could find. Once I hung up the phone and heard the crunching of gravel outside. I flipped the curtains and saw him hunched over and running away. If he started doing worse I was gonna call the cops or the landlady. Cut to months later and I hear a commotion outside. I go out and my landlady is chain smoking next to my building. She is watching the ambulance loading three bodies onto stretchers and taking them away. I tried asking the cops but they wouldn't telle, but my landlady did. She said this young guy who lived there had just killed two women then himself. I moved out the next month. Now we time skip to the next year, when I move into the same complex behind where I used to live. Everything is normal for a couple months. Then one night I'm awoken by the shadow man. He was floating above me looking down at me by just two feet or so. He had no eyes. He was made up of swirling black smoke. His body was long and skinny. His head tilted up and down like he was looking between my body to my face. What was the most disturbing was he kept making motions like he was trying to have s*x with me but I couldn't feel anything but air. I was disgusted and scared to death and screamed at him to get off me. He flew backwards into the wall and faded to a pale grey shadow. I slept out in the living room for awhile. Nothing else happened for three weeks except feeling anger coming from that room off and on. Cut to the last incident before I moved out. This time he sat on my bed when I was sleeping. The creepiest part was feeling his weight and my feet sliding into him like he was solid. I woke myself up and nothing was there. After I moved out the next month I was glad he didn't follow me. I don't know if this was the ghost of the same guy or not.There was one more incident though. Three years later my sister and her 5 year old daughter moved into the same apartments on the other side of where I had lived. I was babysitting for her one late night when a faint shadow appeared behind the lamp with the dimmer switch. The shadow turned the light off and on three times slowly. As long as I went there he would never leave me alone. He must have had a crush on me or something. My sister's daughter also cried soon after that down the hall so he must have scared her too. I wish I'd asked my sister if anything weird happened to them when they lived there but I didn't. That was the last I saw of the voyeur ghost. Next time I'll share my poltergeist story, which was even more intense, and so was his presence. That one was attached to one of my friends who moved to Idaho from Massachusetts, and his presence was strong and frightening. He was not human. She used to live in the Bridgewater Triangle where she and her friends were always seeing cryptids and black robes people doing messed up rituals in the woods. They're not just urban legends. I think she picked up one of the demons they summoned because I had a panic attack almost every time she visited me. When I told her that she said she didn't know where it came from. But I'll save that for next time.

I've been doing research for a story on some traditional faeries, and I'm so very struck by the fact that nearly every culture agrees that if something is calling your name and you don't know what it is, don't turn around, because it's an evil/mischievous creature that is going to take you away... This belief is so wide-spread that I think it might be older than our species is. It's incredibly interesting, and many cultures that don't share areas or languages share such beliefs. A related belief is your 3rd (or higher number) name- that you should only respond if it gives your full name, including a secret name that you know and that full name should never appear on any record so that you can't be supernaturally identity thefted.

The moment that someone in the family gets sexually assaulted by an unknown entity should have been the moment the family left that house. I’d make my family live in the car before allowing anyone inside that house again. That’s crazy to me.
@nightowl54758 ай бұрын
I agree 100% with you. I finally realized why demons never bother me. I’m kinda ashamed to say it but what the hell, here goes! Ya see, demons gravitate toward fear. They want a young vulnerable person that will be violated and full of fear. Also, a person who has lots of possessions and wealth, fear death and fear the unknown. I have nothing to offer a demon. If a demon came into my bedroom and woke me up, I’d say, “What the hell took ya?” Here’s all my bills, here’s the email saying, I’m gonna be put out of my condo for being delinquent on payments, recently my partner left me for someone else. I’m already in hell. The first thing I’d say is, here’s a roll of paper towels. You want me, I got a dog that shits all over the apartment. I hear, hell is a terrible place, if you take me and this dog, all the demons are gonna be stepping in dog shit, so, you better get used to having a roll of paper towels near you. Then, I would show the demon all the letters I got from collection agencies that day in the mail, baby, you want me, you get the whole 9 yards. Get used to opening mail like this everyday. After 5 minutes, the demon would say to his pals in hell, this guy is in worse shape than us. Let’s go next door! This guy doesn’t fear death, HE welcomes it! Now, if I hit the lottery, and I had something to live for, then, a demon could haunt me. But now, a demon won’t go anywhere near a guy like me!

I grew up in a haunted house. So l love hearing others story. When my mom sold the house the next family had their issues with the house they moved out and told their story to the news paper.
@horizontide56810 ай бұрын
So did i..It was a new house but it was across the street from a cemetery. I would wake up in the middle of the night hearing banging noises from inside the closet door. The door knob for the bathroom once started twisting like someone was trying to open it and the floor would creak like something was walking around. My parents clearly doubted my stories. I moved out at 19 but later they told me that something was beating on the wall like it was coming from my old bedroom and apparently it lasted for like a week but only at night. Their neighbor even heard it once apparently and came over with a gun, thinking that someone was breaking in on my parents. I think about that shit often. They still live there...fck that lol

I lived in a haunted house for ten years. We never had anything malevolent, but we had collected antiques in the past which may have attwcted some unwanted guests. It's funny because since I moved from that home my new house feels too quiet. There were always bumps in the night at my former home, but it was part of the character of the home so to speak. It almost made th e house feel more alive if that makes sense. The new home
@NanaBren9 ай бұрын
I totally understand that. You get so used to the activity that it is weird to NOT have it. The house I lived in from age 11 to 18 was over 100 years old. We named the ghost Sarah. She was benevolent and kept us entertained. I did get mad at her one Christmas Day when my new watch went missing from an end table in the living room. I sat it there when I went to eat. We never found it. I made sure, when the house was being torn down many years later that anything found in the walls or ceiling would be saved. Sadly, no watch, but we did find a hidden door.

I thoroughly enjoyed your documentary and am so glad I came across your channel! I can't wait to binge the rest of your stuff. This poor family... I'm not too fond of the Warrens due to their reluctance to submit the evidence they claimed to have, but that doesn't mean this family didn't experience the pain, torment, and isolation caused by this entity. When you can't trust your neighbors, church, or even your own mind who can you turn to? I'm glad they got away from there.
@maledikt8 ай бұрын
Ok, your narration is quite good. It isn't overblown or stuffed with sfx like some other channels, which I appreciate. I also like that you do point out the media frenzies, and obviously controversial events like the involvement of the Warrens (whom I can't stand being pedestaled), and I also like how you tend to point out (in other videos as well) that sometimes these stories have obvious religious biases towards certain religions / denominations. I like this more cautious take. It's refreshing.

It’s interesting that these cases - or rather entities- sometimes seem to attach themselves to particular people, and when subsequent families move in to the same property, they don’t have any problems. The Warrens becoming what they are now is just forever amusing to me. As a UConn student in the late 90s/early 2000s, they would come by every Halloween to do presentations. They were pretty funny with Lorraine quietly steering Ed away from rambling. They talked about possessions and the Raggedy Anne doll... and they were just interesting to listen to. Never would I have thought anything would have come of their stories the way they did. Like I say...funny to think about for me:)
