The math is a little off there. I was 8 for most of 1988 when the movie came out until October when I turned nine. Josh is supposed to be 13 back then so he would have been born in 1975. In 2001, Josh would be 26. Now a 26 year old is still too young for a 41 year old but it isn't as bad. Edit: Come to think of it he had his birthday in the film so he would have turned 14 that year. So that makes him born in 1974. So I was off a year and he would be 27 in 2001.

I had only seen "Big" once before, when I was much younger, so I didn't remember/know how the whole scene with "Susan" played out, so when I revisited it now as an adult, I was really surprised that they actually slept together, putting quite a shocking twist on the movie, and I don't think it would fly today. And if the gender roles had been reversed in that "relationship", the movie might have gotten an 18 or older age limit, or maybe not even been made. Just goes to show, how different things were back then, compared to now, 30 years later. Damn, it's almost hard to believe, it's been 30 years since "Big" came out. Makes you feel old, cos I was just a kid when I saw it the first time. I was 13 in 1988, but most likely, I saw it a couple of years later than that, probably in the early 90's. Cos I know I didn't see it when it came out. And ironically, I watched Ninja movies and horror, as well as action movies, before I was even 10 years old, at home on VHS. But I couldn't go see "E.T.", at the cinema, cos I was too young, lol. 😂😂😂

I have to say for this style review this was pretty lame over all but to keep this short I just hit the real miss of your review, there was of course no sex with a minor, Hanks is an adult and so is she. The real relevance of that was to show his transition from a child to an adult, remember when she first slept over, sex never even crossed his mind, he was still clearly a 12 year old, as time went on he started to transition to his new life and part of that was the fact that he was an adult. While he still had his 12 year old mentality he not only had zero interest in sex, but the thought never crossed his mind. Perhaps you folks at Grunge need to get your minds out of the gutter, it was just a fun fantasy movie.

Holy cow. Who says you can't have 'disturbing' parts in a movie? Thinking your son has been kidnapped is of course disturbing, but it is in the context of a fantastic comedy. Even children know this isn't real. Nor are these things that 'disturbing'. A kid in an adult body having a fight? Gee... sorry most 13 year-old boys have had a fight at school. How is getting a job 'disturbing'? It's unrealistic, but hardly disturbing. Likewise, if you think an office coworker talking about a women to a child is 'disturbing'... you've clearly never heard 13 year-old boys talking. I don't find any of this disturbing. Most is trying to apply real world logic to a comedy in which a vending machine makes ages someone 20 years. The mother's despair is realistic, but that only helps give motivations to the main character to want to come home and for the audience to want him to do so. I think it would have been more disturbing if he just immediately forgot about his family and got on with his new life.

In the 80s there weren't any tracing phones, and no logs. If a trace were requested, it required live tracing it by following the circuits manually. That's why there was this overused cliche of having whatever seconds to talk before you get your phone traced in spy movies in the 80s and 90s, well that was based in reality. Nowadays it is everything different, especially after 9/11. You don't need to be listening in real time to trace a call, everything is logged and a simple subpoena can give you historical logs and locations of any call.

I don't think I'll subscribe. I will never get my 7 minutes back. The movie was light hearted and a work of fiction. It seems such a pity that people today has to judge past history with today's glasses. What next??? Nitpick "Back to the Future 2" for not being correct when jumping towards 2015?

I just see this as a teen/pre-teen kids movie..The audience demographics was in that range and the fact it's a fantasy, you really don't need to hunt for plot holes. Remember Nickelodeon's Goosebumps? Millions of plot holes but who cares right?

This can be summed up Easy . Its called Fantasy . You said it your self in the world of big . In Big They don't need to follow our Rules . Rules that make our our lives so difficult sometimes . In the world of big you can make a wish on a vending machine and have it come true . Enough said .

I never looked at this movie other than a comedy. The real aspect is much more creepy! Thanks! Every time I look at my Zoltar machine, I'll remember this!

As far as the fight between Paul and Josh, it's not like Paul knows Josh is a thirteen year old in an adult's body. And I don't view the confrontation as all that violent. They literally chase each other around, and on the ground they roll and tussle. Yes, Josh does apparently get hit, causing a bloody nose, however it's no more violent then the kind of scrap he might get into with some toughs in school.

Liked your video, nice theory. Though I think the film is more, " be careful what you wish for" the movie trys all the aspects of being 'Big.' although Joshs' life of. A. Big person wasn't certainly better than his friends parents life, hence the horrible contrast between,. Big joshs life and his friends family. Those that are now big wish they were young again...

You have to believe that Zoltar in fact manipulated all the constants within the time Josh was BIG, so everything would have fell into place regardless of the variables Josh would have taken. I think it was the biggest missed opportunity for Susan. I believe there was a film where the girl did choose to stay young. Susan is clearly disenchanted with her life, job, and things she has done, she is also in real love with a guy who clearly has it within him to accomplish anything. She not only would regain a quarter of a lifetime of youth, she also would be leaps and bounds ahead of everyone mentally scholastically and would sail through high school and college of her choice on a free ticket gaining whatever 6 figure job she desired and she most likely has a sizable bankroll or ability to create one to kickstart that comfortably for her and Josh. Billy would no doubt get a ride on that gravy train to the far off future, perhaps starting up a rival toy company or building computers with Josh in their garage with Susan acting as sales rep and cpa. No downside for Susan to throw away the chance of a lifetime with regards to her outlook and feelings. Plus the big bad is gunna pin the murder on a missing adult Josh on her, only a matter of time.

The movie about the girl who chose to stay young, that was 14 Going On 30, about a child who was chasing his teacher, turned himself into an adult with a scientific gadget.

Why people get upset when content creators try to give another perspective other than the one the movie presentes? They know its just a movie, they are just trying to discuss how dark the situations would be if it werent
@sexysadie29013 жыл бұрын
Why? That's useless, it's fiction, most of us can tell fiction from reality.

Love this movie. There's nothing that creeps me out about it. It's a movie. It's fictional. Looking so deep into fictional stuff is ridiculous. Unless you want to stop people from going to the theater and just watch documentaries.

A lot of these points aren't disturbing; they're just unrealistic. And, all of these things are either things that people don't ignore OR they do ignore because they aren't important.

There are so many things odd about Big as well as back to the future when you think about it. Older Josh will be missing until he grows up. Also he became successful before Finishing school. What if he tries to reclaim his success again when he's older but fails. Also the book The Chronicles of Narnia has a similar Problem they become regular children again after being Heroes.

Are you including deleted scenes? Because I’m pretty sure that’s cheating.
@cinereali19723 жыл бұрын
These kinds of videos would make sense if they were about a documentary or a film "based from true events". Big, on the other hand, is a film is based off a kid making a wish and instantly becoming an adult. No need to strap on your super sleuth hat to figure out that there may be some questionable anticks involved. News flash- IT'S A FICTIONAL MOVIE!!!!
