Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah thumma Alhamdulillah; in this brief, 12-13 minute talk, Sheikh Abdal Hakim حَفِظَهُ الله, explains, describes not only the spirit, essence and ethos of Ramadan, but the spirit, essence and ethos of Islam itself. Paraphrasing a comment I overheard, on a subject not about Ramadan or Islam; here in this uncool, non-breezy, un-grand, decidedly low-key, not-deliberately rousing, almost understated خُطبَة (khutba), وَعْظ‎ (wa’az), sermon, نصيحة (naseehat), دَرس (dars), lesson, تَفسِير (tafseer), exposition or commentary - call it what you will - “with a whole lot of rhetorical niceties stripped away, is the capital‐T Truth” about what life and - not upper-case, proper-noun Islam, but lower-case, islam-as-a-verb islam is about. Absorb, imbibe, internalize, operationalize, be and become this lecture today, tomorrow and every day after that, for the rest of your life, and you will, إن شاء الله and بإذن الله تعلى, be muslim, truly muslim. وبالله التوفيق والهداية . May Allah ta’Ala give to Sheikh Abdal Hakim حَفِظَهُ الله, a long, long, very long, mightily mightily prosperous, happy and healthy life, and benefit him in every good in both this world and the next and enable all of us, the Ummah, and me especially, to benefit through him in matters of the next world at very least. Ameen.

I also fathom 1400 years ago how the prophet Muhammad pbuh poor lifestyle and role model. I cry to realise why Islam born in Arab World and still jahiliah today. Bismihi Ta'Ala - "Allah Subhanahu ta'Ala alone is great", those are the words spoken 3:25 minutes into this talk by Sheikh Abdal Hakim Murad - حفظه الله and (no, though I wish I had, I haven't lost my marbles) رضي الله عنه, I wish and pray and believe Allah is or will be pleased with him, as He تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالٰى was and is with the Sahaba, the Taba'ieen and all those who follow them in excellence, رضي الله عنهم . Sheikh Abdal Hakim Murad - حفظه الله statment is the most comprehensive, concise, accurate, and in fact only relevant statement that had to, and needed to be made. It contains the essence and substance of every other talk/lecture/speech we will ever need to hear. In fact, ourselves On that occasion, it was said that Gabriel عليه الصلاة والسلام had come to teach us our religion, أَتَاكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ دِينَكُمْ; and I believe, that we who live today are indeed immeasurably blessed that Sheikh Abdal Hakim Murad - حفظه الله and رضي الله عنه, has come to do, AND done the same. Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah.

May Allah ta'Ala grant shifa to ALL sick aad ailing people, whatever their ailment. Meanwhile, the following is a naseehat passed on to me by one of my shuyookh in South Africa - may it be a boon to all, aameen: Excerpt from Bayaan of Maulana Abdul Hameed Is'haq دامت بركاته Tuesday, 12 Jumaadul Ulaa 1441 / 7 January 2020 Generally today, we find illnesses are quite common; but fortunately, we learn from Hazrat Moulana Yaqoob Nanotwi رحمة الله عليه (the Ustaadh of Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi رحمة الله عليه and many other Buzroog), that this very beautiful دُرُود شَرِيف (Durood Shareef) is a cure for all diseases, including severe, and even, incurable diseases. Hazrat Sheikh also advised that when, and wherever the name of the Nabi Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم is mentioned, we should add to it, at the appropriate point, the well-deserved, and indeed only fitting and appropriate honorific and title, سَيِّدِنَا - اَللّٰهُمَّ2 صَلِّي عَلٰى سَيَّدَنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلٰى آلِ سَيَّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ بِعَدَدِ كُلِّ دَاءٍ وَدَوَاءٍ5 وَبِعَدَدِ كُلِّ عِلَّةٍ6 وَشِفَاءٍ Translation: "Allah’humma, send as many, and as much mercy, honor and blessings on our great and noble liege and lord, Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم, and on the family of our great and noble liege and lord, Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم, as the number of diseases, maladies, and the number of medicines and curatives, and as many as the disorders and causes of illness, and the as many as the number of curative processes and therapies." Also invoke this du’a اَللّٰهُمَّ يَا حَلِيْمُ يَا كَرِيْمُ اِشْفِيْ [sick person’s name] اَللّٰهُمَّ يَا حَلِيْمُ يَا كَرِيْمُ اِشْفِنِيْ [for self] وبالله التوفيق والهداية

We wait for Ramadan and it is gone before we know it that is all good but as long as we did not utilize most of the time in trying foods of Muslim countries in iftar parties it’s ok .But the nights are for the adoration of the one and only …Our Creator Allah. The more we thank Him the more we feel close to Him and that is what gives us the inner peace that is incomparable in the rest of the months and should be….may Allah accept our endeavour.

Since reality is purely information streams of possibilities , and String theory suggests the current path of existence is already set ; The Quran is ' THE pathway' ( or 'THE STRING' that reality exists upon) from conception of existence to its very end ( when we All shall return unto God ) As the Quran clearly states, events and speaks of mankind from past , present and future, its IS the very pathway & timeline of existence itself. My CONCLUSION (and Allah knows best) The Quran is ' THE reality STRING ' of all existence - hence is the uncreated word of God.

Khusoo comes from undistractedness. It is the heart standing before God in unified concern. It is minimizing the number of intentions in every action. The munaafiq has dozens of intentions most of which he probably doesnt even discern. The believer has one intention to please the One who alone is the meaningful judge.

Pleasing God is a form of duality also. Fighting the ego/will...subduing it and being subservient to please a being you see separate from yourself. From this you too shall move on from...you cannot please God for God is not affected by human feelings. How can the supreme source of joy be more joyed? Everything is a gift to yourself and God wants you you be happy for you, not for them. In a joy that is not dependent on things of this world or even heaven. If you do for rewards, then you go from a state of being to performance. In people pleasing motivation before God, uou also secretly wish to be Allah's favorite above others. Allah has no favorites and everyone is judged fairly refardless of their deen. Examine one's motivation.

Are values/virtues imprisoned by materialism, or is this another case of postmodern perversion of traditional linguistic terminology? Is the qualitiative nature of the term “value” pointing at the material or to something else, and isn’t the absence of the qualitative what Elul, Nasir and other thinkers call Technique, Cartesian Dualism, reign of quantity, scientism, and malignant materialism? I do like this idea of hopeful humility, mashallah. Ramadan Mubarak.

Jeez Louise! Your comment left, and leaves me, completely flummoxed; and while, acknowledging that I don't know spit about anything; in answer to your question, I reproduce here, hopefully - and Allah willing for both your and my benefit - the comment I just posted in response to the Sheikh's comments on "the Divine Closeness" - Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah thumma Alhamdulillah; in this brief, 12-13 minute talk, Sheikh Abdal Hakim حَفِظَهُ الله, explains, describes not only the spirit, essence and ethos of Ramadan, but the spirit, essence and ethos of Islam itself. Absorb, imbibe, internalize, operationalize, be and become this lecture today, tomorow and every day after that, for the rest of your life, and you will, إن شاء الله and بإذن الله تعلى, be muslim, truly muslim. Abu Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Verily, the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge. The inhabitants of the heavens and earth, even the fish in the depths of the water, seek forgiveness for the scholar. The virtue of the scholar over the worshiper is like the superiority of the moon over the stars. The scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. They do not leave behind gold or silver coins, but rather they leave behind knowledge. Whoever has taken hold of it has been given an abundant share. Source: Sunan Abī Dāwūd 3641 Grade: Sahih

The most beautiful thing is that He knows what you are about to tell Him and yet He still listens. This is beautifully illustrated from Mūsăs story. وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰ " ˹Allah added,˺ “And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?” (Quran 20:17) قَالَ هِىَ عَصَاىَ أَتَوَكَّؤُا۟ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِى وَلِىَ فِيهَا مَـَٔارِبُ أُخْرَىٰ He replied, “It is my staff! I lean on it, and with it I beat down ˹branches˺ for my sheep, and have other uses for it." (Quran 20:18) Allah, despite knowing it is a staff, still asks and wants to hear His servant's voice and reply. Although Allah knows what is bothering you and what your problems are, He wants you to talk to Him, through the believer's most powerful weapon: dua ❤️

Islam forbids idols, rituals, holly days, holly months, . friday prayer is no special to any other prayer other than it must be ritualised with more than one person. Ramadan is no special to any other month of the year. islam is not about rituals and prayers. Its about living as the human being that god has created us to be. Don't kill, don't steal, don't lie, be just, don't war, look after the needy, don't amass wealth,... study, learn, teach, work for a living,,,, A Halal living is all of the above... prayers, rituals, are least important in Kuran's teachings...

What is his real name though? Mr Winter? Why do you have to change it? Is it because you worship graven images of Arab culture instead of seeing the formless universal spirit of God in all creation and individual beauty? Those without natural fitrah of spirit need these garmets, language, names, clothes, art, fashion, symbols of recognition and outer signs of membership of an exclusive club, spiritual pride and self importance. Do you need these things to follow God? No.. it is folly, only to be recognised and "taken seriously" by men not God. You were born naked and nameless. You can do better than this cultural appropriation...it also signals that somehow you are less Muslim if you dont have an Arab name. It is the type of colonialism the British did to the native Australian aboriginals who said their native names were not Christian enough and called them John and Luke. That their native names were spritually "less." The white male British intellectual will never change....he was as trapped now as he was then...in form and calcification.

@@nimoa.rashid9186 it’s sunnah meaning it’s not a must to change the name and most of the time when a name is changed,it’s changed it’s to original form which is in Arabic for example Henna (Arabic: حنّا) is a common Arabic translation of John as are Yūḥannā (Arabic: يُوحَنّا) and Yaḥyā (Arabic: يحيى). All are common Arabic male given names. And because Yahyā/John the Baptist is a prophet in Islam, Yahya is a very common name among Muslims.

Everyone knows his other name Dr Timothy Winter. It's used pretty often, he clearly uses both, there's nothing wrong with that. Stop making things complicated for people

The TJ Winter approach of Sufism will destroy closeness to Allah. The Sahabah would beat sufis and people of bida'ah and this is actually what you deserve. You sit in a western country enjoying the worldly pleasures. Go live a humble life like the Sahabah did and stop the hidden call to sufism in Cambridge. Give Cambridge a break for the sake of Allah. We ask Allah for His Guidance and Protection.
