I'm an older woman who recently had a bad bike accident. I broke my leg and had surgery with a lot of titanium put in. The pain meds are there gor a reason. Even later in recovery or therapy you don't have to win a tough guy award. If it hurts, and it does let the medication help you. 🙏💖

I’m a mom of three adult disabled children, my oldest, my son was hospitalized for eleven days in that hospital in 2021. My son was in the Cardiac ICU for eleven days with complications from his Muscular Dystrophy and passed away. I have to say though he received the absolute best care anyone could get, the nursing staff was fantastic! He was treated with such dignity and kindness that I will forever be grateful them for the care they showed him in his last days on this earth. Fantastic hospital!

My granddaughter is a true redhead. She is also in medical school studying to be an orthopedic surgeon. Redheads handle anesthesia and pain meds in a TOTALLY different manner than the rest of humankind. She was in a very bad car accident and had to have hip surgery. The anesthesia and pains were as bad or worse than the injury.

I am a redhead from birth and I paim anesthesia like a model patient. I recently had orif surgery on my right hand. I had a nerve block before the surgery and it was wonderful for pain relief after the surgery.

@@imgoodru2840 That's not necessarily true. Depends on what sort of pain meds are administered. If it's time release then yes the med will dissolve at a faster rate. But none time release meds, you're just getting a half dose of prescribed medication. And yes I am a physician....a surgeon at Vanderbilt U, Medical Center.

Stephanie, I had the exact same break in my left wrist last June. And my doctor told me the same thing, that if I was 80 he'd just put a cast on it and call it good, but as young as I am (62) he felt putting in a plate to pull the bones back into alignment, was a better option to regain full range of motion. I have healed up very well. My only downside was it did cause a flare up of my old carpel tunnel nerve issues in my left hand. Someday I will have to address that as well, but there is no need to right now. Praying for a successful surgery and a rapid recovery!💖🙏💖

My prayers for a painless and speedy recovery for Stephanie. I can relate to her because when I was 10 years old I was forced to fight a kid in my elementary school a year younger than me a few hours after we got out of school by three kids. He was about a foot shorter than me and when I tried to punch him in the face I punched his forehead instead. I then pinned him on the ground and he cried out your breaking my arm. I finally let him go and we all went our own way. My hand was in a lot of pain and it swelled up like a bullfrog. Luckily I didn't break anything. In 1980 I rear ended a car on my motorcycle. The bike kept going and fell about 100 feet down the road. My left leg hit the right rear of the car and I broke my femur. I passed out from the pain and when I woke up I was sitting up with both legs stretched out un front of me. Some how I knew it was broken even though I was in no pain from being in shock. Two days later they put a rod inside my femur. Thank you for showing us this part of your life even though it's heartbreaking to see Stephanie in pain and you family being concerned.

Oh Stephanie nothing hurts as much as a broken bone the way it aches and throbs. Once they have it all back in place the healing is going to start and within a few days that pain will be less and different. Speedy healing my dear lady. You Don’t realize how much she use it when you can’t use it anymore. Im Kathy.. just using different email. When my son was young, he broke his arm playing in a Jr. High basketball🏀 game. The ball hit his hand just right and broke his arm. After he had pins surgically put in it, and then over time, it healed, he went to a park nearby, to play basketball, again, he came running home and had fallen off his bike🚲, & broke it again in the same spot. 😭 This time he had surgery to remove the pins & put a metal plate in it with screws. Once he grew up, he went Army boot camp, things changed. He couldn't hold a rife due to his muscle would rub on the plate and he couldn't hold up the rife steadily, so he was honorly discharged. He's done pretty well all these years since. Best wishes Stephanie! No more playing b-ball.🏀

I take kratom which an all natural tree leaf ground up that is grown in Indonesia. I know pain all to well and I'm so thankful I found it. It saved my life. I am praying for Steph and all of you.
