That's why Ohtani is worth more than $700M. He IS a huge magnet to many good players and when I heard that Ohtani was present at the meeting with Yamamoto, I knew he would go to the Dodgers. Ohtani also recruited Tyler Glasnow. Ohtani sent Glasnow his video recruiting message and Glasnow said that that video was a deciding factor to go to the Dodgers. The Dodgers are going to be the destination spot for many good Japanese players in the future because of Ohtani and it has started already. An evil empire has risen. And I hope the empire will strike back next year!!

If the Angels had an owner with better financial and baseball acumen, Shohei would have made the same move for Anaheim. The Angels and other teams are angry, but if their team had been able to offer the same conditions as the Dodgers and had Shohei willing to participate in recruiting, they would have all taken the same action. I mean, this is just jealousy and a special feeling of "because it's the Dodgers." And when it comes to the Angels, the one to hate is Arte Moreno.

It's a blessing that Ohtani decided to leave. Remember that Trout was content playing for an average to below-average team for 12 years and will finish his career in 2030. Sorry for the bad English, I'm using a translator. Yamamoto, who will join the Dodgers, is the best Japanese pitcher of all time. He only hit two home runs during the season. @@SuperComet101 Sorry for the bad English,I'm using a translator. There is a pitcher named Senga who ranks second in ERA in the National League this year, and he was the best pitcher when he played baseball in Japan. However, from a certain point on, he was the second best pitcher. That period was when Yamamoto was pitching. Yamamoto was younger than Senga and had the best ERA, most wins, highest winning percentage, and most strikeouts for four consecutive years. Ohtani is a great player, but he's not invincible as a pitcher. But Yamamoto is a monster. In Japan, when teams opposing him know that he is going to pitch, they give up on the game in despair.
@user-kp3sx7uv1t
@user-kp3sx7uv1t 7 ай бұрын
@@SuperComet101sorry. I'll answer your question. I know that major league pitchers are great in Japan, so I don't know if he will win the Cy Young Award. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Yamamoto's ERA is in the 1 point range next year. He is a pitcher who has the potential to have an ERA in the 0-point range. The Dodgers are a famous baseball team in Japan. The Dodgers were the first team in Japan to conduct overseas free agency and accept Hideo Nomo. Hideo Nomo is a player who pitched a no-hitter in the majors. If it weren't for Hideo Nomo, Otani, Ichiro, and Yamamoto wouldn't have been able to do their best, so I'm really grateful. I really want them to win the World Series.

This is such a good move for the Dodgers beyond the roster. The basically purchased the entire Japanese baseball market with this signing, and are about to make so much indirect money through that. They are also “the” team for Japanese players now, and we could get some more high end prospects in the future just based off these 2 signings. As a dodgers fan I’m really looking forward to the future. The ownership worked masterfully to make this happen while not completely screwing the team financially and leaving opening for adjustments if need be.

I see the Dodgers falling short in '24 but winning it all in '25.,maybe even '26, and potentially a dynastic run if they can keep guys healthy and keep adding good supporting cast players around their stars. But it's a long season and I really doubt they really become that super team people think they will, but I hope they prove me wrong.

Only people, happy or dodger fans. Everyone else in the nation is just looking at them like pissed off. It’s so stupid what they are allowed to do. I hope they don’t win anything. They just spent the most money ever on a free agent then they go out there and get the next best free agent, and spend so much more money.

I really wish I am proven wrong on this, but here are the facts when it comes to top contracts for former NPB pitchers who joined the MLB: 1. Yoshinobu Yamamoto: 12 years, $325 million, $50.6 million posting fee 2. Masahiro Tanaka, New York Yankees: seven years, $155 million, $20 million posting fee 3. Masataka Yoshida, Boston Red Sox: five years, $90 million, $15.4 million posting fee 4. Seiya Suzuki, Chicago Cubs: five years, $85 million, $14.6 million posting fee 5. Yu Darvish, Texas Rangers: six years, $60 million, $51 million posting free 6. Yusei Kikuchi, Seattle Mariners: four years, $56 million, $10.3 million posting fee 7. Daisuke Matsuzaka, Boston Red Sox: six years, $52 million, $51.1 million posting fee Other than Tanaka and Darvish, they were all duds. Even Tanaka was a borderline success, as his last year in the MLB was 3-3 record and 3.56 ERA in 10 appearances.

13 years for a 170 pound pitcher….if he’s as good as Pedro or Lincincum which I doubt it, their bodies could not hold up that longevity. To hold up that long you need a scherzer body

As a Dodger fan, I am happy to see the Dodgers sign Yamamoto, but I am little concerned how Yamamoto struggled against Mexico in the WBC semi-final. Yamamoto did not look like a number 1 or 2 starter in that semi-final game against Mexico. I hope the signing of Yamamoto works out for the Dodgers.

If Yamamoto stays healthy, he'll almost certainly be opting out after 5 years. So this could be 5 yr/$135 mill with $50 mill extra to Orix (or the equivalent of $37 mill/yr). Quite a bit of money with some risk attached.
