Dodger fan here...Love what you two guys are saying. It's true, there are teams that should be following the Dodgers business model, instead of wringing their hands. The Dodgers in no way invented this business model, deferred payments has been around for decades. It's true, teams like the A's cant compete. It's also true that team like the A's maybe shouldnt exist. But most teams have the money and revenue to do what the Dodgers are doing. BTW, whatever happened to 51% of the revenue going to the owner, 49% going to the players? I guess thats not a thing anymore. I think that changed with the TV contracts. Anyways, thanks for not hating on the Dodgers in this discussion

Dan. You tell it how it is. Blue Crew starting pitching is still needs help, in the long run because you can’t depend on May or Gonsolin staying healthy. Glasgow and Snell have injury history also. I like depth. Dodgers do a good job of platooning players. I like the idea of L Robert. Lux is too streaky; can go over a week without a hit. I like Hasung Kim to replace Muncy. Similar bat, lower OBP but Kim superior IF. Fair-weather is true. I’m seeing LA caps all over San Diego now, LOL

3:50 Yeah, I don't get it. Every other big league team can afford to beat the Dodgers' offer to Kim, or find another diamond in the rough in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, etc. So why aren't they? Maybe they can't appeal to players on the same level, but surely they can offer something. We need to stop talking about the payrolls and start talking about front office strategies, because the Dodgers are clearly on to something while the other teams are looking mighty flat-footed. 12:00 Max might not be a Gold Glove at 3rd base, but he knew once Shohei signed with the Dodgers that he couldn't be DH anymore, so he worked his butt off and it showed.

A guy that gets it. Their farm system is top 10 every year as well. Their scouting is tops. They literally just signed a 16yr old kid in Mexico 2 days ago that they think is better than what Urias was. They DFA’d Diego Cartaya to get Kim because they drafted a better catcher/OF in Dalton Rushing whom is climbing the rankings faster. The Kim signing is just another person that makes their success so easy by their consistency and flexibility within their roster and bench players. It’s a no brainer to carbon copy those things.

Dodgers weakness is they're too good. They don't have to fight for a playoff spot and stop playing meaningful games in late August. Come playoff time they have to win these short series or that's all she wrote. If every series in the postseason was 7 games they'd win every World Series. While the ball parks might differ in favor of the Giants. The Dodgers have been doing something that no one else has in decades, putting a contending team on the field year after year and making the playoffs. Yes, winning championships is the goal, but making the postseason in 12 to 15 consecutive years without destroying your farm system. The question every fan should be asking their teams ownership is, why aren't we doing this same thing? Be competitive year in and year out and build your fan base. Don't hang on to cancers that destroy a good clubhouse atmosphere. This point is exactly why the Padres aren't going to win a championship. They have a toxic clubhouse. The Giants tend to hang on to home grown players too long and block better talent from moving up. The Dodgers went through that during the McCourt years.
