Why would anyone be happy having their property ownership rights stripped from them? I cannot believe people trust the South African government to judge whether your land is productive enough, it’s idiocy to think this will not be abused, and the fact that expropriation is on the table at all is an abuse.

I agree. The owner and the market need to decide if the land is productive or not; not the government. If I buy a piece of land, keep it for 30 years and only sell it,farm on it or build on it, when I retire, then I should be able to do that.

The land issue is going to be a contentious item for me.. Some of the land uses tend to deteriorate the soil conditions.. These sections of land will then be left for the next season giving it time to recuperate. Will this be seen as part of a productive farm or a piece of land that is not in production.. And lets be honest, no south african will want government to determine if they are doing enough in their business to keep it..
@deilliw
@deilliw Жыл бұрын
@BΞRNΔRDUS KöMMΞR Hopefully that is the case.. But it will be a business model that requires a change in regulations as the current regulation for expropriation for the benefit of development might not provide sufficient cover.

All these so called politicians and businessmen of today can talk very well. Oh so smooth and full of wisdom. Like all the rest the past decades. No thank you. What we need is a man of REAL wisdom. Earthly, back to basics person. One not interested in money and building empires. But one with one goal, to be a LEADER. To get satisfaction from seeing how the infrastructure is being repaired, values repaired, basic civil values upheld. Instead of looking at his bank balance and personal influence in the background. Im so done with all these so-called saviours. We need a radically different type of man.

Watched the interview on Biznews and I like his honest "what you see is what you get" approach. It is VERY clear that Zille ticked him off big time too. The problem is that he's a successful businessman with his own wealth (like Trump), but this also means that he can walk when het gets gatvol at any point. So it will all boil down to the party structure and the quality of the people that will manage everything behind the scenes when he's not there.

Gayton McKenzie is being promoted by Rob Hershov as a potential SA leader. Also, to know who Gayton is, look at his current work ethic in Central Karoo. As an ex prisoner whose story is well publicized, Gayton established himself by going into schools, talking to youth, unarming them and stopping gangsterism. He's respected in his communities as a leader in Western Cape. Will that be enough for other regions of SA? I don't know ...

Guys our previous system has failed us, so has our current system. I agree with all he says especially sending our young people to the army. They will learn valuable skills as well as discipline. Non of the other parties really appeals to me. They have not really addressed the true issues that we as citizens face. Yes he has a past but, he has paid his debt to society and wants to make a difference. I think we should give him a chance. I am a coloured female and I see the hopelessness that our young people face. Gangsterism, drugs, lack of opertunity has plagued our communities since forever, and it needs to stop. Our children and grandchildren need a South Africa that works for them. Not just for the few well connected families in government. Have a blessed weekend All...

@@michaelweston7742 I would agree with you if we lived in an ideal world however, we do not. I'm going speak on my demographic of young people which is the so-called, coloured Community. We have an alarming amount of young people who grew up with no or little parent input. Many of these youth come from extreme poverty, and missing father households. They are plagued by gangsterism, drug and alcohol abuse often, generational. Many are school drop outs, with very limited access to futher education. Mass Teen pregnancies and children basically raising children. Many of them will end up in our prison system (dependent on the state) in other words, you and I as taxpayers. Mass unemployment etc. I can go on and on... So what do we do with these young people? Are we really saying that they are lost? That when they reach eighteen, there lives can not be turned around? That the best they can hope for, is to be on SASSA for the rest of their natural lives? Or even worse shot dead. Sadly will will be the reality for many young men living on the Cape flats. Wow, what a dark picture to paint for millions of young people. God help us.

At the height of the might of the South African military machine, it was hard-pressed to train, equip, feed and occupy the time of 100 000 (white) men (only) per year. At this point, knowing what we know, can you imagine the complete and utter clusterfuck if there were an attempt to do that with millions? What about the cost?

He also mentioned that Helen Zille and the DA publicly stated that they will work with the ANC come 2024. You are critisizing him for working with the ANC and selling a narrative that he might be untrustworthy because of that, but you leave the part out where he exposes Zille and the DA. He is a very transparent guy and shares everything with his members, he often goes live on facebook. If and when you follow him you will also understand in depth why he works with the ANC. He needs portfolios to show what he is about and the DA weren't as willing to give him that, he also stated that in his speech. Still a nice discussion though. Gayton Mckenzie for President!!

Gayton has not steered clear of his reason for going into coalition with ANC/EFF. It was for power, and realistically speaking, he only did what he did in Beaufort West due to the power he was able to garner as opposed to going into a coalition with the DA who would not effect any real change or give anyone else power.

Would you be surprised if you were told that Switzerland still has conscription? I did my military training in Switzerland at the age of 19 and that was back in 1961. And let me tell you it will teach you discipline and responsibility and that what South African men of that age so desperately need.

What is productive land? If a farmer produces 4 tonnes per hectre of maize but as a result of other external factors eg diesel costs, he makes a financial loss in that year, is the land still productive? Likewise if a farmer produces 10 tonnes of Sharon fruit, which doesn't sell in the market because South Africans don't know the product, is the land still productive?

Yeah watched the BizNews videos yesterday, and Gaytons has really thrown a spanner in the works, DA is good but he did make a good point, Helen Z. is the dark cloud over the DA to some extent, if she steps down we would see greater relationships between big blue and the other little parties.

I am so glad there is someone talking about bringing back conscription. He's the first politician I've heard mention this! On this point alone he may get my vote. Conscription of school leavers would go a very long way to helping fix so much of what is broken in South Africa. Even if called up for only a year's service. That would be both sexes. It doesn't mean that everyone would necessarily a soldier. Defense and armed forces include so much more than an army. Its medical services. Hence; ambulance, first aid, hospital workers, social workers and crisis counselors to name a few. It involves policing, patrols on streets at night, crime prevention etc. It could also mean anti-poaching patrols. The list goes on. Any conscript that misbehaves, like in the SANDF, well, you get put in DB (detention barracks), which means that you will be required to fix potholes, weed pavements and painting fences duty. Conscripts, similar to when I was conscripted in Feb 1988 to Nov 1989, could be paid a minimum salary, enough to buy toiletries, shoe polish and whatever other small essentials you may need. But you get fed and given accommodation. It may be the solution to get millennials and younger off their phones and engaged with their community. Here they can learn not to be so exclusively focused on themselves.It teaches one respect, hygiene, order and how far one's limits truly are. Compulsory conscription may also open opportunities that were not previously available, or even considered before. It is a gateway to possibility. A generation from age 18 to 25 is a fit and capable one. Considering that 70% of them are presently unemployed, it could well be a good path forward. Those who have first studied and gained qualifications can use those qualifications to service the community for a year before earning your passport visa. This is something I've pondered for a long time, and I think it would be so much of a help as to what ails SA as a country.
