The Door to a New Year

I'll be honest, after the year we've had, I'm not entirely sure whether this New Year of 2021 is something to look forward to. But, if I could ask one thing, as this New Year begins, here is what I would ask ...
This New Years spoken word is an honest reflection on entering the new year 2021, after the craziness and challenges that 2020 have brought so many of us.
Here's the words in full:
As I stand at the door
To a New Year
I long to shine a light forward
To see what it might hold
I want to know that this year
Won’t leave me feeling as battered
Bruised and exhausted
As this one has
With its shattered hopes
And disappointments
If I could ask one thing
As this New Year begins
I would ask this …
Give me a hand to hold
That I may not walk alone
In the darkness
And a voice to encourage me
That I may not fear
What lies ahead
For with a hand to hold
And a voice to encourage me
I can take one step at a time
Learn to live
Each moment as it comes
This year will bring
Both good times and bad
But with a hand to hold
And a gentle whisper
To encourage my heart
I feel
I can journey on
Maybe then I will find
What my soul seeks
Joy in the small things
Hope in the darkness
Peace in the storm
And love, each step of the way

Clearly we are still battling this virus {stating the obvious for those that need the obvious stating} Do you spend your time trawling out dated videos taking issue with comments that were relevant 6 months ago...really ? Dear Jennifer! I admire your initiatives and efforts as well as your videos! it is clear that you have not received the 'right' help to 'make sure' that life works all year round. A cottage in Småland is otherwise a good metaphor for 'survival'! Note well - there are many more places in Scandinavia (not only Sw!) Where a quiet life can be lived. The quietness unfourtunately, are dependent of the net ... 😇

Hi Jennifer, to answer your question, I would ask to be heard, believed this year. I read that healing begins the moment we feel heard. I know that to be true now. Happy New Year to you 🥳 I've been subscribed to your videos for a while now and find them fascinating. I love learning about how people live in other countries. I too am a fan of Naomi & Jack. Life in Sweden seems idyllic, although just as in the UK, it's probably totally different in the countryside than in the cities.

There is one major difference I can think of straight away, I can afford to live in a cottage in the countryside in Sweden, where as that’s not really an option in the UK.
