After thousands hours listening my favorite band, I will say that is probably one of the best album not only for the band, but one of the best in history of rock music...
@JohnnyangelNIU2 жыл бұрын
While I agree in principle man, the way this live album was crafted in many regards is both very deceptive and uncalled for. Not saying the songs don’t sound great, but I don’t think any of them were truly live in one take (or even from one show). If I remember the liner notes correctly, anyone particular song might actually be put together from parts of that song over eight or nine shows on this tour. Why that was done - I have no idea. Were ALL the shows that bad where entire takes couldn’t be recorded and put a on tape for a future live album and just cleaned up a little in the studio? It’s very confusing and angers me - It might sound weird but how many great live albums do we all know that weren’t truly live, but even all of those have nothing on the piece-meal effects of this masterpiece. Jim and the doors just deserved much better.

@@JohnnyangelNIU Most bands do this. I remember when Journey Captured came out, how clean it was. Well, that was a franken-record as well, you can even hear a major cut during Wheel in the Sky. Many bands such as Bob Seagar & Rush were talked into this nonsense which most of the time is unnecessary, but management wants "prefection" so they pull this crap. I much prefer a good bootleg, warts and all over these fake live releases. Overproduction ruins the feel...no warmth.

Dead cats dead rats is not a song. It was him just being spontaneous. He was rapping irish whiteboy shit. Since able to release all that was held back. You can catch him using a line or two in a live show that is in between songs. Then you hear him in Celebration of the lizard. One album has him saying we are going to play someting we have been working on. I think he asks the crowd to forgive them if ghey are not impressed. I think he knew that this was a crowd that was good enough to handle it. This version has me on Hill dwellers. Primal sounds. Most underatted live album. Since it is from 5 shows or so ok. But Boston and pittsburg show albums are great.

few have ever come up to the stage in rock like james douglas. just listen to the way he says, 'crap' at 1:46. the guy perhaps more then anything was a genius of drama. again, just listen to how he says that one word. any great director or playwright couldnt ask for any actor to better nail the pronunciation of a word in re to its meaning. poetic density is what they call it. few have that, even in the acting realm. one can hear the genesis for ex of punk in such phrasing. he was a comet that passed quickly, yet very brightly across the american sky.
