What do you get when you combine a classically trained keyboard player, a jazz drummer, a flamenco guitar player and a poet? The Doors.

The time manipulation with the breakdown is incredibly creative and tricky. The relationship between half time and double time is something every young drummer strives to master and this song is a master class in terms of this concept. Rush’s New World Man is another example, but the way Densmore gradually speeds up to transition from half time to double time is very cool and requires an overarching feel of time to pull off.

Hey guys, so here’s a little bit of rock trivia you might like, The incredible bass that drives this great song was played by part time session musician Jerry Scheff when he was not playing with Elvis’s TCB touring band, you’ve seen Jerry many times whenever you watched Elvis in Las Vegas performances.

saw them live in 1969....Ray Manzarek not only played keyboards, he also played a bass foot unit, as the Doors had no bass player......Jim Morrison was the ultimate lyric writer.......you guys should listen to the song "Not to Touch the Earth" off their album "Waiting for the Sun", and listen closely; as it's the second stanza of a poem "Celebration of the Lizard"; after all Jim was the Lizard King..........when I was in high school in the 60's, gas was 25 cents a gallon

The car is named Bullet from Steve McQueen movie. One of the best car cashes ever filmed. In terms of live performance, it's a fact: The Doors did not have a dedicated bass player. In concert, keyboardist Ray Manzarek held down the bottom end with his left hand (and right foot) on the Fender Rhodes. John Densmore played drums. Robby Krieger played guitar.

If yall like those cars, you need to watch the films, "Vanishing Point" and "Bullitt". The driving clips in this music video, came from those two films. Except for the driving scenes of Jim Morrison. The green 1968 Mustang GT Fastback 390, being driven by Steve McQueen, was from "Bullitt". The white 1970 Dodge Challenger RT 440, being driven by Barry Newman, was from "Vanishing Point". They both have some of the coolest muscle cars, and driving, in movie history.

Sadly, I remember 22 cents when I was 11 in '68. We used to have 'Gas Wars' where one station would be 24 cents, and a block away one would be 22 cents, etc. When we had the gas shortage, we could only get gas according to your license plate (odd, even). The main guy is not Jim, he is a look-alike. Jim was gone before this was made. This is NOT the official video. It contains clips of Jim and the band from various times in their career. Several movies including the legendary Steve McQueen film "Bullitt" as well as scenes from "Vanishing Point" are used here (Probably without permission). Morrison died from a lethal dose of heroin. BUT, one of their greatest songs IMO. Great song to just speed on a lonely road to. "Mr. Mojo Risin" is an anagram of "Jim Morrison".

Jim Morrison and The Doors, were only a Band for about 4 years until Jim's untimely death, just as Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin of the same era, making them exclusive members of the infamous "27 Club." All three werre superstars of Rock in the late 60s, and all died at the peek of their careers at age 27. Kind of eerie. This song is not about a your regular Morrison song about a Beatiful girl, it's about the city of Los Angles itself, referred to in this song as a "woman. The Lyrics "I see your hair is burning" refer to the fires that start in the Hollywood hills every year in the Fall, and "Driving down your Freeway," is also a reference to the city of Los Angles.
