Heard this song recently driving down a winding mountain road at night during a storm, it felt so fitting! When they recorded this Jim sang the lyrics, then went back and recorded them again whispering them, they laid the whisper track over the top of vocals, I always thought it added the creepy vibe that is so delicious

Hard to pick, but I do love The Doors, they are of my generation. For me it is a tie between The Doors and The Band. Perhaps there were too much talent to choose from, Santana, Creedence Clear Water, Jefferson's Airplane. However, The Doors and The Band were a little different.

Others may have made valent efforts to cover this, but none can match the original. However, Val Kilmer did do an excellent jog for the Doors movie This was the last song they recorded before Jim went to Paris and, well, you know. The entire band was tight and just really jives together so great.
