I was there in October 1989. Walking into the Perelachaise is like walking into 19th century. The place was shrouded in fog which gave it an eerie air. The cemetery is huge. Literally a different world. There were a few people huddled around the shrine. The smell of hash wafted in the air. All I remember is a young girl sitting there with a world-weary air. Probably stoned and probably pondering the mystery of life/death. I will never know who she was or where she came from. Maybe she is a mom somewhere with her kids now grown up. I cannot know. This is the mystery of life. But here I was at the grave of the doomed rock star/poet of the 1960's. Here he lay this Rimbaud of the music world once an unfettered spirit who became a modern romantic figure. Eventually his life was subdued by the tyranny of reality which is unforgiving to those who dont conform or accept its diktats. But his spirit and his music still survive after all those years with its siren call 🏛🎸🎭

His grave is private and largely unvisited. But he too played a part of that drama back in July 1971, which has now become part of rock folklore

People are wrong.... Jim Morriso was not an Angel, nor a Devil, Jim Morrison was a poet, a human with strength, weakness, subtle and loud and in his life he did not walk, he ran as fast as possible to the very edge of a constant, never changing.....death. But man, The Doors shined a bright light that all can see for a short time, probably one of the brightest lights in rock history.

This year , 2021 , there could be a 50th year tribute on July 3rd. Likely, John and Robbie have been asked. Sadly , we are now living in a dystopian one world police state; where ''war is peace'' , freedom is slavery and ignorance is strength . So do not count on it. Likely, if it is tried to do this July, the gathering will averted before it can start ! So we should be happy they did this one 10 years ago.

They made a mistake not picking up this guy in the 70's. I met this guy back then and he was a dead ringer for Morrison and sounded like him. Journey picked up that Asian guy and they did great. And he had the spirit too. Wild Child was not a temp thing....This guy was into it. I doubt if he could come out with the Poetry like Morrison, but we have to remember that Krieger was writing half the songs and created a lot of Doors hits. Who knows what this guy could have done, and we will never know. I am not saying Morrison could be replaced....but maybe the next best thing. LOL I would have enjoyed the illusion.

@@raspberrysherbet5285 you need to use the brain box. _The pandemic_ explains why some people weren't there, but as you rightly said, as did I, Europe gets lots of tourists in the summer. And in pandemic time, people were traveling a lot in the summer because it was the first reprieve from the constant illness. A lot of naive people billed the summer of 2021 as the end of the pandemic, airlines were overloaded they had so many passengers... the pandemic didn't stop anyone _in the summer._ If anything, tourism was up
