Some great recordings off of the soundboard at Marty Balin’s Matrix Club in SF. (❤VU) ❤Legacy, but I wish it had You’re Lost Little Girl.

I agree that Legacy is the best compilation album by The Doors. Absolutely stunning. Have you heard the RSD vinyl release of the Matrix recordings?

I saw that came out, but I have not heard them. I just have that CD that was released years ago. It sounds like a bootleg, basically. I assume the new release sounds a lot better?

Agree with you in general about live Doors albums being disappointing. But I highly suggest you check out the rare fantastic Doors live album, Live at the Aquarius Theatre, from 1969. It came out for Record Store Day 2016. It is a FANTASTIC sounding record. This will definitely satisfy your quest to hear a great sounding Doors live album. Jim is also tight (no drunken meandering). He actually sounds a bit weary, which actually works because some of the highlights are blues oriented songs, like: Mystery Train/Crossroads and I Will Never be Untrue.

Thanks! I will be on the lookout for that. I would love to find a live Doors album that I really like.

@@amitytracks you’re welcome. I just checked and it’s available on Spotify. The vinyl version has become a bit pricey.

I recently bought the Doors live in Bakersfield just because I live in Bakersfield. I never had a desire to get any of their live albums.

Is it any good?

@@amitytracks It sounds like a good bootleg.

DOORS have some great live recordings but I believe the editing was grueling. Paul Rothschild really played a big role in making them successful.

i think the first comp that i bought was the soundtrack to the movie in 91, there is some interesting stuff on there including three of his poetry tracks, still have it and the only comp, agree with the live stuff if i want to hear drugged up pisshead slurring his way through songs ill go down my local pub on a saturday night, real shame and a waste of a talent, but the studio stuff is killer, cheers

I have a friend (who's almost 20 years older than me) who says he saw The Doors on the Sunset Strip in 1967, and that they were amazing- absolutely electric. But then he saw them again 3 years later in 1970, and he said they were awful. They were just going through the motions, and Jim Morrison was clearly drunk off his arse, stumbling around and slurring all the words. I've read a few things about The Doors, and it seems there was a disconnect going on within the band, especially between Jim and the others, that was only growing as time went on, not diminishing.
