I just want to spray paint the 2 chain/metal pull-curtain closures. Since it's a hot Los Angeles Summer do I really need to start a fire in my wood-burning fireplace to cure the paint ?

Excellent how to video. I want to brush paint two decorative brass strips. When I paint a sample piece, it doesn't paint on like say drywall. I have prepped the brass {washing, sanding). I do not want to spray paint, I feel I have better control with a brush....my personal preference. Thanks

Will the paint be ok if I don't cure it until winter? (It's 90 degrees now) Since I don't use the fireplace often can I just use paint that is not high heat? Thanks for the video.

I used a brush instead of a can it smoked terrible now what do I do please ✌🏼

Brush applications yield a thicker, more durable finish in the long term. However, the additional material takes longer to heat cure and does create a much higher off-gassing of smoke while curing. Before heat curing high-temperature paint, we recommend opening nearby windows and using a box fan to ventilate the area. Burn the appliance for four hours continuously to ensure the paint has fully cured and will no longer smoke.

It will just peel off if it’s not heat resistant

Would the heat from a creosote sweeping log be hot enough to cure the paint?

The paint curing process begins at temperatures as low as 300 degrees. However, it can take up to four hours for the paint to fully cure and so a single log may not burn with enough duration for the process to be completed.

Kitchen stoves require FDA approved enamel or ceramic paints. The aerosol stove paints we offer can put off gas byproducts when exposed directly to blue flame stove burners, contaminating the food. Kitchen range and oven paint should be sought directly from the manufacturer.

Builder used wrong paint on the gas fireplace & fumes from the paint caused the glass to turn color! He also painted the tile edge with same paint, on main surface, and on edge of screen. Builder sending a painter but wouldn’t it be better for builder to replace the entire fireplace? Afraid the spray & curing will trigger asthma.
