I'm afro-caribbean and fashion nova used to be the only place where I could get pants that fit my chevy body when I was super broke. Now it's far too unaffordable for me to even look at their website anymore.... I think the BBL Body is "going out of style" but I'm afraid it's going to make people revert back to not making options for curvy girls again.

Everytime I have thought about giving them a shot (because the Insta-models and website pics look so awesome) I happen to see someone wearing a piece in public and 1/2 the time you can tell the material isn’t quality. More on par with a Chinese rip-off version of popular clothing - and not even a decent rip at that. The only way to circumvent the cheap feel of these fits is to pair them with quality complimentary pieces - or not invest in them at all.

The last time I ordered from fashion nova was when I ordered a top, it took forever to come in, and when it did it had a huge hole in the armpit area. I emailed them asking to get an exchange or refund, they said I had to pay for shipping to send it back, and they will only give store credit. I left a review on their website and an hour later it miraculously disappeared off their page

when shopping online looking at reviews with pictures will be your best friend. you're able to see how the clothes fit on natural bodies. i also would look for models with natural bodies when shopping on FN. super helpful!

The thing I hate about Fashion Nova and Shein, is how cheaply made their stuff is. I'm the kind of person who will keep and wear clothes until they gasp their last dying breath, I've had the same Walmart hoodies for over two years and they're still in good condition save for a few stains. I think the main issue is them going out of style and refusing to update their aesthetic. They had the only jeans that fit me and I'm skinny as hell, but with everything else going out of style I prefer shopping at Shein even if it has even worse quality

Though I agree with all of your points, it’s heavy on the “original Fashion Nova lovers have just grown up” for me! I loved me some FN back in 2016 when I was 21, new to the club scene, and on a budget (since I was paying my own bills for the first time in my life). Once 2018 rolled around, NONE OF IT appealed to me anymore. Not the trendiness, the overly sexual styles and DEFINITELY not the quality. I simply grew out of it. My lifestyle changed, thus changing my taste and what I was willing to pay.

I few years back I was leary about buying something from them. I decided to buy three pairs of jeans. I wore them MONTHS later. There's a piece that's suppose to be at the bottom of the zipper part to keep the zipper on. All three of my pants didn't have that piece and the zipper messed up after the first use. I used to work at the fashion nova warehouse back in 2020 and we were not getting paid enough. i remember i forgot to pack a pair earings and I told one of the leaders about my mistake and she yelled "the company is now going to have to waste more money for this to be shipped separate" I was shook and embarrased cuz there was people around like i know i made a mistake, but its not like she was going to pay for it **sigh** anyways it was then and there when i realized why people would just hide the stuff they forgot to pack instead of telling the leaders, because they would get redaculed for it. keep in mind we had a strict quota to meet, i forgot exacrly what it was maybe 100 pieces per hour or more so i can see why people would forget items and alot of the leaders were just assholes so its not like we felt comfortable telling them. I remember people were just being let go all the time my guess is because they hired way too many people it was just sad because it was around the holidays, and people were getting fired for little shit like i remember this girl was charging her phone under her station and one of the leads saw and she got fired because we had a strict no phone policy and theres more i just cant remember right now. Honestly ive never felt more disposable in my life thats why i quite after two months cuz i was in fear of getting fired all the time. And i agree the clothing quality was trash.

About half of the people I follow on Instagram are Fashion Nova influencers.. so all I see is fashion nova clothes on my storyline.. but from personal experience, my sister in law tried to give me her fashion nova clothes and they felt so cheap. And they didn’t fit. My sister in law is curvy so they fit her.. but not me. She did mention she paid a lot for the clothes. I grew up wearing Forever21 clothes but I noticed after these other places like fashion nova came into the picture they’re prices went up.

Its also interesting that FashionNOVA was not just for the BBL body but the body of Black women. Just like black women inspired this 'BBL body,' FashionNOVA's audience was Black women: women of this shape, though not as extreme. Moreover, just as our interests, fashion, sayings, etc. are treated like trends, a commodity for white people, this baddie style clothing was appropriated and now its 'no longer trending' because white women have moved on. Fashion Nova is one of the 4 stores I ever really shop at and I never had trouble with shipping it’s always gotten to me within 3 days although I have had some items come to me that were not sewn correctly or a lil damaged but customer service has always been quick to help and give me my money back. Although I do heavily agree on the “bbl” body fashion 😩I wish they sold more “normal” clothes but I’ve been shopping with them for so long it’s hard to stop lol. I asked for a red dress in FashionNova. I had order one before, in 2XL, and was pretty nice. So when I ordered the last one, I ordered it in size 2XL, but, for some reason Idk, they sent me an XS one, and if I wanted to return it I had to pay for it, and the saddest part is that when I went back to the shopping historial, it appeared like if I had order it in XS, so please, if you order something, screenshot you order immediately. The clothes are so inconsistent in sizing. I have a strong hourglass shape and some things I bought fit so much better than anything I had ever bought! But some of it was extra tiny and I was not able to fit, even though it was my normal small/medium sizing. They are so expensive as well. Fabric wears out within a couple washes 🙄 Such a bummer because another store that fits me like this will never come around again in my lifetime…. But at the same time, maybe I’ll just get nicer clothes altered instead and save some money with the longevity of the garments alone.

I maybe in the minority here because I have a natural "bbl" body minus the wide hips. I just have a big booty with smaller hips and a slightly pudgy waist however, their clothes fit me beyond perfect. The only issue I've had with the quality of their clothes is, they develop holes after many wears and washes. For example, I brought their jeans but in between the thighs, the material started degrading (thigh friction) because of the spandex like denim. Now their shoes 😵‍💫😵‍💫 are NOT made for women with wide feet and fallen arches.

dude it’s true people sleep on walmart but they have cute af cheap af clothes. i have a lot of money compared to what i used to & a lot saved but i love to thrift & buy cheap at forever21 (quality has gone up, staff is super sweet & store is less overwhelming/smaller/more accessible now that they came back after bankruptcy) & also love buying the occasional expensive yet timeless piece if i really love it.. i don’t like how fast fashion companies take major advantage of their workforce so i try to keep my cheap clothing buys minimal & thrifting is a good option too.

8:00 omg this happened to me. I bought a matching top and pant and it says it was in stock. Then, for some reason I got a store “gift card” via email… was very confused. Then, I got an email saying I would receive a partial shipment. Emailed them asking what happened and they told me when I bought the matching pants, they were sold out, even when it said in stock -.- so I went to the BBB and got my money back LOL

as a fat girl, FN was revolutionary for me. there are ZERO physical stores that i have any chance of going to that will give a tall, bottom heavy girl a decent pair of jeans, let alone an affordable pair. you can all have enough money to shop consciously or w/e but im still broke ass and buying FN jeans and shipping from the us to europe is still more affordable and more worth my dosh than shopping locally

I never shopped on fashion nova because I heard of people not receiving orders because it was out of stock after it was ordered & no refunds.. only store credit. That's dumb lol I do shop shein though. Haven't had any issues with them as of yet and I've made multiple orders over the year.

I bought a fashion nova pants for 40$ and i wore it the 2nd time and it tore at the airport where i missed the plane out of my control. The pants ripped big at the side and it was quiet obvious and i didn't have a change of clothes it was so tacky and i felt so embarrassed having to walk around the airport in that until the next day. The first time i wore it was just to dinner and had it on for like 2 hours. They even sent me ripped clothes already i didn't return it tho. I spent about 1000 plus usd on their site when i checked back for clothes i had to throw away very quickly

I bought like 200$ worth of jeans once on there for uni and let me tell you worse quality one even tore while pulling it up because it was falling off a bit. I bought their swimsuit and it was the same terrible and I paid $30 for it so I stopped buying from there. I bought jeans from American eagle which was better quality so I'll just continue to buy my jeans from them which feels so much better on and feels like I will actually get some wear out of it. I was fashion nova obsessed in university due to the influence but now I prefer to get better quality stuff

I don’t think it’s as high profile but it’s far from being cancelled in its use as a quick go-to for disposable outfits that are event specific while also trendy. As a New Yorker that’s middle class …I don’t have room for a ton of quality, pricey going out/special event/trendy attire that’s both stylish and unique to my fashion sense. I hate repeat outfits to go out , I hate H &M and Zara …everyone has the same stuff. Fashionova is cheap but better than shein in my opinion. It’s a necessary option if you have no closet space, trendy, and have an active social life often captured on social media 🤷🏽‍♀️

Too trendy - that’s exactly why I don’t follow trends lol. That’s why I’ve created my own aesthetic and wear what I personally love (not like….love). If my style is currently trending (which it is) good for me and time to buy some more shit that’s coming out but when it’s over, imma still be wearing that shit. I want the people around me to think of me when they see that type of aesthetic. If your tastes move from trend to trend a piece of your own style gets lost with every one you bounce to. So sad.

They messed up 3 different outfits that I ordered from them 1. outfit top came with one shorter sleeve than the other sleeve 2. outfit bottom came with one leg shorter than the other leg 3. They sent me the top but didn’t send the bottom and their excuse was that they ran out of the bottoms so they gave me store credit

I stopped shopping at Rainbows a couple years ago. I had just left classes for the day and needed an outfit for a hangout that week. Due to shipping delays the outfit I had ordered online from ironically Fashion Nova was not going to arrive on time. Walked in with my backpack, didn’t even pass the security frames in the doorway before an employee started hassling me for my bag, claiming large bags weren’t allowed in the store. I gave them the bag because I couldn’t be bothered. Once I started walking around I saw white and Latin women with massive totes all around the store. Another Black lady entered and they took her satchel as well. I said nope. I’m not about to spend any money in this racist place, grabbed my bag and walked out. The absolute audacity of some store workers.

From a business perspective fashionnova absolutely changed the fashion industry making items that celebrities wear at a lower rate with quicker shipping. Yes not the best quality but we all knew this. The point was to give regular consumers what celebrities get and it WORKED and works . Fashionnova is one of the ONLY E-commerce brands that is still a SOLE PROP . Meaning he BUILT THIS SHIT WITH NO INVESTORS. He is a brilliantly amazing man from a humble beginning . I’ve never heard of Fashion Nova. It reminds me of one of those pop up stores where they’ve bought pieces by the lot and will sell u one, like a Lularoe storefront. A high-end label used to mean better quality than Walmart. One knew for sure that Nordstrom’s wasn’t selling any jagged embroidery or thin ass denim. Ya paid more to get better quality. Now we pay for labels based on who sponsored our favorite talker, no disrespect. Companies KNOW we’ll follow blindly, even if the product is shid or oops it turns out deadly. Hush up and eat the tide pod. Estée Lauder spent over 75% of its advertising on just sponsorships and they’ve kinda monopolized the makeup market. Businesses market through the people we trust and we have no reason to trust these people. They’re not at all informed about what they pedal, they’re just motivated by money. I understand people gotta hustle, but I watched a baby that could barely sit up and babble spend $10 in iTunes a month. It’s that embedded in our brain to be consumers as early as possible. How FB gonna hunt for kids under 10 to join when we once had a moral standard of 18+?!?!
