I agree with your theory, I just have one disagreement. FSA should go between FS and LttP. It's that timeline's version of OoT in that it's the rise of Ganondorf to power. It isn't a different Ganondorf from the rest, it's the same one in another timeline.

Here’s an interesting idea. It’s been said that BOTW takes place “at the end of the timeline. This would imply that either all or most of the timelines should lead to BOTW, at least roughly. AoC has some continuity discrepancies after the initial backwards time jump. So here’s my idea. What if the timelines never unified after OOT, and what if AoC did not create a new timeline? What if Terrako traveled from one branch of the timeline into another pre-existing and nearly equivalent branch?

Impa goes back into the past, stays and becomes the old woman you meet in the temple and doing stuff in the past like with the tree does effect your time. Also Link being defeated does not necessarily mean he was killed, with the breath of the wild maybe filling in that missing piece. After all link was defeated and had to be in a hundred year hibernation to heal then again in age of calamity he could have been killed in the timeline that the little guardian time traveled from which could lead into a link to the past since it never actually specified which Ganon or Ganondorf defeated him between Ocarina of Time and the other game. However the title A Link to the Past is a time related name which suites as a connection to the Ocarina of Time storyline, when Ganondorf goes into the sacred realm when link pulls the master sword is the junction where the time line splits into not just two but three, the future where link defeats Ganondorf/Ganon, the timeline where Link warns Zelda of Ganondorf's evil intentions and the third timeline that Link's mind splits and leaves behind a part where as what did happen, Ganondorf did in fact get what he wanted as seen in the game just before Link finds himself in the future but in the third timeline instead of finding himself in the future he just pulled the sword, Ganondorf appears and link tries to fight but dies in the process thus we have the heroes down fall timeline.

I’m a firm believer of the theory that ‘defeated’ doesn’t mean what everyone seems to think. The reason the Child Timeline splits off is because Link goes back in time, correct? But he has to go back in time at least one other time in the game to enter the Spirit Temple. So when Link goes back in time to enter the Spirit Temple, that timeline is left without a Link, and since nobody knows what happened to Link, it’s assumed he’s defeated, and Ganondorf comes into possession of the full Triforce eventually because the Triforce of Courage doesn’t only go back in time with Link as we see in the Wind Waker, it exists in both timelines even though Link brought it back with him after Zelda sent him back in time. This is also why Twinrova is still alive, Link was never able to enter the Spirit Temple. So in conclusion, Link gets stuck and can’t enter the Spirit Temple, he goes back in time which then creates the Adult Timeline, Ganondorf gets a hold of the full Triforce, and then the Imprisoning War happens.

So, link goes back in time to enter the spirit temple as a child, and goes forward in time again, leaving the original previous adult timeline without a link, because he is creating an alternate adult timeline? This makes sense, but the only problem is the fact that his actions in the original adult timeline are still completed when he goes back, ie all of the previous temples are completed, etc. Maybe the explanation could be that the canon events have link complete the spirit temple before anything else? I’m not sure though, can you even complete the spirit temple prior to any of the others? Maybe this third timeline split is the result of link going back in time to enter the spirit temple, leaving that child timeline without a link. But we run into another issue - don’t you alter the spirit temple in the past so that link can access it in the future? Unless you obtain a key or something that allows him to enter it as an adult, I’m not sure, it’s been 11 years since I’ve played it all the way through (I’m replaying now actually, only in the great deku tree atm). I really like this idea, it makes a lot of sense, but I’m not sure it hits the mark.

I've had another theory about the downfall timeline for awhile now. This theory provides a way for the downfall timeline to actually spawn from Ocarina of Time. However, it does not involve Link actually dying at Ganondorf's hands. Rather, it involves Link abandoning this timeline without realizing it. Consider this: In Ocarina of Time, after you pull the master sword for the first time, it is usually optional as to whether or not you want to ever go back in time. However, there are a couple of points in the game that actually require you to go back in time. Those are: 1. The infamous song of storms paradox 2. The early part of the spirit temple. At the above instances, you are actually required to travel back in time. Now if we think about it, when Link travels back in time at these points and then returns to the future, he should be returning to a different future from the one he originally left (or in other words, a different timeline). For example, when adult Link learned the song of storms from the windmill man, he was in a timeline where the bottom of the well had not been cleared at all, even by the time of Link's adulthood. Then, when he goes back in time, plays the song of storms, and clears the bottom of the well, he creates a new timeline in which the bottom of the well is cleared during the time period of Link's childhood. Then, when Link subsequently travels to the future again to clear the shadow temple, he follows the future of the timeline where the bottom of the well was cleared in Link's childhood. So then... what happened to the timeline where the bottom of the well was never cleared? Simple: That timeline was abandoned by the hero of time. The timeline in which adult Link meets the windmill man and learns the song of storms is abandoned, and it goes on to never have the bottom of the well cleared, nor the shadow temple, and ultimately Ganon is never defeated by Link in that timeline because there is no Link to defeat him in that timeline anymore! The same concept should hold true at the time when you are playing the spirit temple, and you have to go back in time because there is a hole that is too small for an adult. That instance should also create a timeline that is abandoned by the hero of time. In short, I am proposing that the downfall timeline is actually one of the timelines that we actually see Link abandon in game! Unlike the whole "losing to Ganon" explanation that Hyrule Historia gives, this theory is something that we actually see happen in game, and it just makes a lot more sense in my opinion.

here's a problem with this theory if I went back to young link time and plant magic beans then go forward in time then if your theory was right all of my actions in the future would be reset because its not the same timeline so everything I did before going back in time never happened so every time link goes back in time all his progress in the adult time would be left behind since this is not the case this means that the timeline split only happens at the very end of the game

Gonna have to refute this. You mentioned in this video “As you can see in Ocarina of Time, changing the past doesn’t change the future-it just creates alternate timelines.” This is actually the exact OPPOSITE of what we see in Ocarina. There are plenty of examples of Link changing the past and altering the future. One very clear example is the magic beans. Those aren’t planted in the original course of events, but because of Link’s meddling in the past, the plants have grown in the future. If actions in the past have no effect on the future, this wouldn’t be the case. In that case, what DOES cause the timeline split? I imagine it has something to do with Zelda’s use of the ocarina at the end of the game to send Link back to the past. It’s called the ocarina _of time,_ after all, so presumably someone who knows how to use it properly would have some pretty significant control over time. And we actually know this to be true, because in Majora’s Mask, Link learns to use it even better and gains the power to speed up, slow down, rewind, and skip forward in time using the ocarina. So Zelda, being the true “wielder” and keeper of the ocarina, would clearly know how to use it better. And it is using these powers that I posit Zelda deliberately locked away the Child Timeline to continue on its own course. This, I think, might also explain why the Fallen Timeline can’t have started with the time travel shenanigans in Skyward Sword. There was no deliberate attempt to sanction off another timeline diverging from that past point, so why would a second timeline form? That just leaves one question: why does Link’s potential death in Ocarina create an alternate timeline, but not in any other game? I think it might have something to do with just what Ganondorf acquires upon defeating Link. Firstly, as we all know, he gets the Triforce. Once Link is defeated, taking the Triforce of Wisdom from Zelda is cake. But not only does he get the Triforce, he gets the ocarina AND the Master Sword, which Link carried. Only in this game does Link’s defeat result in Ganon acquiring both of these things. And as we all know, the ocarina and the sword together are the two keys to the flow of time. I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to assume that Ganon might use them (after figuring out how; he’s fairly smart, I’m sure he could figure it out) to cut off this timeline. I mean, the guy ruled the world for seven years, and at the start and end of those seven years I’m sure he took note of Link popping back and forth in time. He even mentions that he’d kept an eye on Link the whole time. So he knows what the ocarina and the sword are capable of, and he wouldn’t want to risk someone going back and changing the timeline so that Ganon never comes to power to begin with. Therefore, HE uses the ocarina to seal away his timeline, ensuring his victory. Because really, that’s all a split timeline is: a timeline which is protected from time travel from another timeline. Zelda cuts off the Child Timeline so Link can grow up without anymore time travel interruptions. Ganon cuts of the Fallen Timeline so that he can rule the world with no time travel interruptions. Same concept. In short, the Fallen Timeline is just like the Adult Timeline in that someone deliberately disconnected it from the Child Timeline in order to prevent the two from influencing each other any further. However. This does leave one pretty significant implication: if there’s a version of the Adult Timeline with no Link (because he died), then there must be a version of the Child Timeline where one day he ran into the Temple of Time and just never came back. In this version of events, rather than Link returning after seven years to conquer the five temples and then defeat Ganon once and for all, he simply never returns and Ganon rules with ease. However, that also means that this version of Ganon doesn’t have the full Triforce, because his alternate future self took the Triforce of Courage when he killed Link. Nintendo, you’ve got an entire timeline to play with. Make it happen, cap’n.
@mephostopheles3752
@mephostopheles3752 2 жыл бұрын
@TRKG Except that CAN’T be how i works. Because upon entering the Temple of Time for the first time, Ganondorf has gained access to the sacred realm and thus the Triforce of Power, which he uses to take over the world in Link’s and Zelda’s absence. If the amount of time spent in the future truly translated to the amount of time that passes in the past, Link would be returning to a Hyrule just now being plunged into darkness. But that’s not what we see. Past-Hyrule is totally fine. Ganon is nowhere to be seen. So clearly, the minimum amount of time must be passing, and thus Link must, at the very most, be popping back to EXACTLY the point from which he left. Not to mention, the theory DOESN’T fit with your explanation. To my understanding, the heroes don’t go any further into the past than they did originally. The only thing changing is their actions, which, as has already been pointed out, don’t cause a split. Actions in the past just alter the future. For a split to have happened, they’d either need to go further back than they did the first time, or deliberately seal away the continuity of the past using the Ocarina or something similar.

I saw this somewhere on Reddit: The Downfall Timeline is the original timeline, the original event was the "hero's defeat". But then in A Link to the Past the hero wished that Ganon's evil actions are reversed, thus restoring Hyrule (and Sacred Land) to its former glory. It created a ripple effect that travel through time and space, to the past, making the Hero of Time born in the right place and circumstances so he would eventually defeat Ganondorf.
@jserrano51
@jserrano51 Жыл бұрын
So the timeline would be something like this: Sky Era > Era of Chaos > Era of Prosperity > Force Era > Hyrulean Civil War (The Hero of Time didn't born in the right circumstances) > Ganondorf takes the Triforce > The Imprisoning War > A Link to the Past > Link use the Triforce > Ganon's evil actions are reversed, restoring Hyrule to its former glory ♻️ Hyrulean Civil War (The Hero of Time is born in the right circumstances) > Ocarina of Time > The Hero is Triumphant > Timeline Split into Child and Adult Timelines Of course the Downfall Timeline still exist in the reality of the Hero of Legend the Link from A Link to the Past. So from A Link to the Past the game timeline continues to the Oracles game and the OG games.

The thing is in every game there can a split based on Link losing or even just disappearing by space or time travel. They could be over 2 dozen timeline splits as a result. What if Link is defeated in A Link to the Past? Or by going back and forth between the Light World and Dark World the timeline is split? Ganon would come back to the Light World. In fact Wind Waker could have been the sequel to Link falling in A Link to the Past as the backstory in that game is Hyrule was flooded when Ganondorf returned and there was no Hero to stop him

I also find strange that the events of SS do not cause a timeline split. To be honest, after BOTW was shown a few times before it was released, i thought that it could take place in a fourth timeline created after SS, because of the lore of the statues of the goddess being there, so that the game possibly had a lot of connections to that game. This might be another oversight by nintendo, unless they invent a way to explain why this particular time travel does not cause a split. By the way, the master sword that stayed in the past is the same we find from that point on, you can clearly see it being in the pedestal after Link, Zelda and Groose return from the past to the present in the temple as a piece of evidence that there was not in fact a split.

I like this a lot. Yeah, if you think about it, in SS, we are to believe they defeat Demise in the past. Fine, but then if you were to remain there through the generations it would take to make it to SS’s present (where you crush the Imprisoned with the temple), there should be no Imprisoned there since it was defeated long ago. It makes perfect sense to have a split there!

the only problem I see is that a lot of the time the baddie in the official downfall timeline is Ganon, who is the corrupted version of Ganondorf. What's to stop the spirit of the Hero from appearing in all that time and especially when he (ganondorf) is born, and it just plays out as it did in the official timeline anyway? Also: the in-game evidence is when you got the GAME OVER screen in the Final Battle against Ganondorf, at any stage. Link effectively dies. With so much in the Lore depending on the outcome of this battle, to have a timeline specifically for when you lose at the moment when the evilness in the world is within reach of the full triforce, a timeline where you fail, IS definitely possible. It hasn't been officially stated as canon yet (I personally think it is), but HW: Age of Calamity is a good example of this. There are 2 major outcomes: the events of BotW and the events that happen when they successfully stop the Calamity (which we haven't seen the results of.) Essentially BotW is the "doomed" timeline, up until Link saves Zelda and defeats Calamity Ganon. There is also a possible timeline that shoots off from that battle in which it is possible you died (since, if you do, so does Zelda, effectively killing the Hero and the Goddess, since Zelda has no children) and the world of The Legend of Zelda dies as we know it because every failsafe is gone. I think it is more "you get a new timeline when you die and it is important" and less "u get a new timeline when you die bc you couldnt dodge the octorock properly"

@TRKG I didn’t explain that well Basically: all timelines created from going to the beginning of time in skyward sword are valid and exist simultaneously, that is necessary to avoid erasing the original timeline as it is one of those original timelines One has demise in control, one would likely have something like Majora in control (my personal pet theory is that Majora is just Hylia and Demise combined, but that’s a whole other story) or Demise again in control, one of them would be the proper timeline that splits at OoT, and the last is the first, an abandoned timeline with no Hylia or hero of the Goddeses to protect it. All of them form in there own ways, but every version of The world is born from the pivotal moment in SS where everyone travels to the beginning of time separately One (or two) of those worlds is Lorule/Dark World for sure, another is Termina, another is Hyrule

I think the Ocarina Of Timeline split actually does make the most sense. A split in skyward swords doesn’t make sense. Not only did less time get spent hopping around time in skyward sword but they didn’t make many dire changes to the future. Zelda went back in time to help hold the seal on demise. She was still in amber and came back in the future when link wished for Denise to be destroyed to the triforce and it was granted. So in the future and past once demise was destroyed. It was pilot. Then goes him went from the future to the past and used Zelda to revive demise. Though demise was destroyed in the past where he was revived before he could be complete and have any impacts on the future. There’s no fallen hero timeline because link never fell. It is canon that he defeated demise and the story on the reincarnates becomes canon. Him leaving the master sword in the past and returning to the future I don’t believe should create a split either. The master sword could have been created in the past if the hero was available to the past. Though the goddess sword already existed in the past, the master sword only took its place once completed. They’re the same sword essentially. The master sword is just the finished product so I don’t see why the master sword being in the past would cause a split. It was also used to defeated a revived demise in the past so it makes sense to stay there more than it would be to leave it in the future because then what was used to defeat demise?? It had to stay in the past and keep demise locked up. The only thing on skyward sword where the timeline was changed and not really was addressed was the revival of the thunder dragon. Took a dead dragon and brought it back to life with a tree that was planted in the past and picked of its fruit in the future. Though even then is was through the use of time shift stones which would be really different than literally transporting to the past. That’s my take on it though.

The Downfall Timeline happens because Link was *defeated* by Ganon. Defeated does NOT mean death! They are two completely different things. Even HH makes it clear that Link was specifically defeated, not killed. Also, I believe that the Downfall Timeline does takes place after OoT, just a different take on OoT's story. Ever heard of Ura Zelda? It was an expansion was supposed to be like a "parody" of sorts to OoT. Basically sort of like an alternate, likely shorter version of OoT's story. I imagine that Ura Zelda was likely a outcome OoT's events playing out as though Link did not ever become an adult from picking up the Master Sword. The Downfall Timeline is likely what originally happened before the other two took place due to time travel. The original timeline. The timeline that plays out like regular old OoT for the first three dungeons, except this time, if Link just picked up the Master Sword but was not put to sleep for seven years. And then Link would only conquer two dungeons before taking on Ganondorf. Sort of like an N64 version of WW but with no Great Sea. And finally, SS did not split the timeline because it was what is called a fulfillment paradox.

Lol that's funny I'm actually working on another theory video that says exactly that, that the downfall timeline should be called the original timeline and after link failed eithersages sent zelda or she went back herself after link failed then ocarina would take place, it's actually my favorite take on the fallen hero timeline, cause I like the idea of it being connected rather than just an alternate what if, it's fun making theories, and yes skyward sword is a different type of time travel, that's evident cause when you come back from the past the master sword is there, I was just saying if we are going by ocarina of times rules, cause really it should be consistent but nintendo will do what's best for the story at the moment even if it retcons, is inconsistent, or contradicts past lore, but all that stuff makes zelda ripe for all kinds of theories to be put together, I love it.

In my perspective, Skyward Sword’s finale is a dragonbreak. It is evident by the death of the old woman, revealed to be Impa. She has the bracelet that Zelda gave Impa in the past and always had it.

My theory is that the downfall timeline occurs during minish cap. where Link fails to stop Vaati from getting the lightforce from zelda. thus, the wind demon getting trapped and four swords happens. Then Afterwards four swords adventures occurs which prompts ganon to escape from that sword, only for him to try and take the triforce, causing link to the past to happen. the oracle series happen, followed by Link's Awakening, Link between worlds, Triforce heroes, then Legend of Zelda 1 and 2 the adventures of link. And if you kill Vaati in minish cap, Ocarina of time occurs and that split happens with Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, Wind waker, Phantom Hourglass, spirit tracks, and lastly the timeline united in Breath of the wild.

However the title A Link to the Past is a time related name which suites as a connection to the Ocarina of Time storyline, when Ganondorf goes into the sacred realm when link pulls the master sword is the junction where the time line splits into not just two but three, the future where link defeats Ganondorf/Ganon, the timeline where Link warns Zelda of Ganondorf's evil intentions and the third timeline that Link's mind splits and leaves behind a part where as what did happen, Ganondorf did in fact get what he wanted as seen in the game just before Link finds himself in the future but in the third timeline instead of finding himself in the future he just pulled the sword, Ganondorf appears and link tries to fight but dies in the process thus we have the heroes down fall timeline.

i have been always been bothered by the lack of branching on SS on the official Timeline, Clearly there too many inconsistencies too asume there wasnt a braching, Lack of Master/Goddess Sword in the present timeline, Both of them in the Past timeline, one in the Temple and one in , in the original timeline clearly Demise was Sealed, but it was now defeated, yet in the past timeline it was defeated and sealed in the Master Sword. I see a few inconsistencies on your timeline, but hey its an interesting way to intrepret the downfall timeline and incorporate it in the clearly misused SS time branching, and just the fact it actually works as a Timesplit instead of an "What if.." scenario makes it good.

I can accept that Link could be canonically defeated in the same way that the Hyrulian army was canonically defeated in the Wind Waker prologue, but I agree that the official fallen timeline explanation is illogical unless you apply the many worlds theory. However, the Skyward Sword timeline split could create all sorts of unforeseen consequences. The most likely possibility I can think of is a timeline with no Link, Zelda, or Gannondorf because the former two abandoned it and Demise was defeated through a Triforce wish without the opportunity to cast a curse. If I was going to assign any games or characters to this timeline, I would guess that Linkle might be one of them, and she could be a reincarnation of Tingle and not Link. I haven't played the Tingle games, but if the Triforce trio aren't referenced or seen in them, the SS timeline split could explain why this is.

While there are many problems with this idea here a few that really stand, out are as follows. 1) the whole notion that Link to the Pasts epilogue, and conclusion of ocarina (the adult timeline) just unermime Link. Ie) if they can seal him away withit him why is he really thst important? 2) Assuming Link dies fighting gannon, wouldnt he have just killzed zelda dn taken wisdom, so this never really added up in my mind. 3) If link wishes in the triforce how exactly does ganon get it again? And where did coursge go in zelda one? Back to link? 4) By throwing all the older games in there, doesnt it make i obvious a linear timeline, or set of wasnt really intended until st least windwaker? 5) Whose to say link couldnt have died or dissapeared after links awakening thid creating another "fall timeline". 6) Lastly if link cant exist in two timelines, when hes alive.... Why is it ganon can get to exist in both the child and adult timelines? This always seemed like a contradiction. Ill admit i couldve missing something here. 7) Doednt the fallen timine pretty much make ocsrins mote glib thannit is... As if to say no mstter what this Link dies. Either at the hanfs of ganon or th heros shade? 8) Overall it just promotos laziness, and ruins the idea of people drseing theor own conclusions.

There's a big hole in the premise of your theory. When Zelda sends Link back in time at the end of Ocarina of Time, that is the ONLY time a timeline split has ever been created. Look at all other instances of time travel in Zelda games, and you'll see that changing the past doesn't create a new timeline, but instead changes random parts of the future. This includes using the Master Sword to time travel in Ocarina of Time, using the Harp of Ages to time travel in Oracle of Ages, and using the Gates of Time to time travel in Skyward Sword. This is evidenced by the fact that the story-related quests you have completed in the future REMAIN completed, even after you travel back in time, change the past, then travel back into the future. If changing the past creates an alternate timeline, then we would expect that the future world would reset each time you travelled back in time. But that's clearly not how it works. Zelda sending Link back in time to create an alternate timeline is a major plot hole.

I think the downfall timeline COULD be a result of Link not going back in time during MM thus he dies which itself just seems like the regular downfall timeline but when you realize it does have to do with time travel thus meaning an alternate timeline like this is possible. The Triforce of courage could even go to come Soldier in the Hylian army or something making it simpler for Ganondorf to get it. I think it's possible though the idea needs some more work. I disagree with this... Going back in time can lead to a split but going forward in time doesn't lead to a split since you are going to the future of the past you were just in. Skyward Sword also has that special time travel where everything is conveniently together despite the idea that it shouldn't be like that so while yes, there are technical splits in skyward sword... Non of them lead to A link to the past. If you take the Lore of a Link to the Past and Ocarina you will see some parallels as during the plot of ocarina while not really shown Hyrule is in a Civil War like state (which is why you see Ganondorf in the castle pretending to aid the king and soldiers are everywhere), that same war is the Imprisoning War from a Link to the Past and is called that due to the Sages sealing away Ganon in the sacred realm. They imprisoned him but the war continued which is why Hyrule is in a broken state in A Link to the Past.

The downfall timeline is not the issue. Previous to the existence of Wind Waker, the ending of Ocarina of Time lined perfectly with the events described in the prologue of A Link to the Past. The whole timeline split would mean that the Adult Timeline begins with A Link to the Past, and that's because the story behind does not imply of any hero of antiquity facing Ganon and getting killed. Wind Waker is the problem here, it was the game that broke everything.

Not true - ALttP's backstory requires that Ganon is sealed away with the full Triforce, all 3 pieces. In the ending of OOT, he only has 1. I don't like the Downfall Timeline split either, but the only way for Ganon to get the full Triforce is to defeat Link and Zelda. When Ganondorf first touched the Triforce, it split because he was not worthy of Wisdom and Courage, so he only got Power. So for Ganon in ALttP to have all 3 pieces, he had to have defeated the bearers of the Triforce of Courage and Wisdom at some point. Obviously, when ALttP was first created, they simply hadn't come up with the idea of the Triforce being omnipotent and splitting itself, but the Downfall Timeline is currently the only thing that makes sense, unless you were to argue that the Downfall timeline splits at TMC instead, and Ganon gets the full Triforce somehow between FSA and ALttP.

@@bensjammin9 Yeah, I think more about Alttp as a game that happens after The Minish Cap when Vaati successfully drains the Golden Force from Zelda, thus resulting in the events of Four Sword and then Four Sword Adventures and after Alttp. This is my take on the "Official Timeline": It is the most puerile garbage! It was fabricated in an ill-thought-out rush in order to placate whiny fanboys. Nintendo has never had the desire to create any sort of cohesive mythology for the franchise. Their focus has always been on making fun and interesting games for players to enjoy. Every game may have links to a previous game in the backstory published in the instruction manuals (remember those?)! If each game is treated as a self-contained entity, which has always been Nintendo's M.O., then there was no need for temporal placement or relation to another.

Working on my own timeline, I actually found a place for the fallen timeline taking place in Majora's Mask. After Deku Link first plays the Song of Time, he travels to the past of an alternate Termina, while that Termina is destroyed. We know that the Triforce must exist in each timeline, or else Link wouldn't have still had it after OOT as well as WW having the Triforce of Courage in that timeline. So... After Link vanished from Termina, Majora destroyed that world and the Triforce of Courage was shattered, returning to Hyrule. Because of this, knowledge of the Triforce, which was just considered a myth told by the Royal Family at the time, suddenly became known to everyone. After the Hylian Civil War, everyone wanted the Triforce for themselves. And around this time, the Triforce of Power and Wisdom activated as well. Ganondorf, seeking the Triforce, invaded the land, turning all of his followers minus Twinrova (his surrogate mothers and most loyal followers), into monsters, essentially "Killing" them and replacing them with monsters (Referenced in ALTTP) while at the same time, without a hero to pull or use the Master Sword, Zelda and seven sages (different than the ones in OOT, perhaps the ones from TP) created a new Master Sword, perhaps made from Master Ore in Hyrule that was used to create the Goddess Sword, and founded the Hyrulian Knights, inspired by the tale of the Hero of Time, with their greatest champion chosen to weild it. Ganondorf, having transformed into Ganon by this point, had laid waste to the Kokiri, the Goron, technically the Gerudo, and possibly the Zora to an extent. (Explaining why we never see them in any other games in said timeline inside of Hyrule) The Hylian Knights, Zelda and the 7 wisemen/ sages, sealed Ganon, who at that time just completed the Triforce in it's entirety, was banished into the Sacred Realm, in which became the Dark World. Any people still looked for the Triforce and became monsters by Ganon's magoc and influence. And it is possible that the Silver Arrows, the only thing that could kill Ganon, was made around the same time as the new Master Sword, or even made from parts of the Original Master Sword. Personally, I like to call it the Legends Timeline. Beginning with Majora's Mask, to ALTTP, and ending with Link's Adventure.

The only time we see the time travel create new timelines in Ocarina of Time is the ending where Link tells Zelda about Ganondorf’s plans, and even then it isn’t confirmed that the timeline Link left continued to exist or that Link erased it until Wind Waker. By OoT’s rules, the time travel erases and changes the future. There’s the Spirit Temple, the fact Link learns the Song of Storms from Guru Guru who learnt it from Link before he plays it to Guru Guru, the fact you can go back in time plant a magic bean, and it will be there when you return.

The Twilight Princess version of the Hero of Time is even worse than Link just failing to beat Ganon. In Twilight, we have the Hero as a ghost who can’t move on. How did he die? In some meaningless battle against a far inferior foe compared to Ganon. The Twilight version is the worst. Here’s how things should go… time is cyclical. Evil always exists and it’s personified in Ganon. Whenever evil gets too great, a hero arises whose name is Link and the hero banishes the darkness. But it’s only ever for a time. This cycle continues forever until it spirals into a final, climactic ending (which you can’t ever really have or else the franchise would end, but ideally there should be one). The timeline splitting at Ocarina makes sense, but only two ways. The third timeline where Link died doesn’t hold any weight at all. It’s a cop out by the writers to try and create an infinite multiverse. But one universe with Ganon always coming back and a Link to meet him already made sense.

Hyrule Hysteria's "timeline" is the result of the fanbase being so confused and obsessive over the timeline. Miyamoto gave an interview in which he outright stated the timeline as Ocarina, Zelda 1, Zelda 2, Link to the Past, and with Link's Awakening going anywhere in the timeline after Ocarina. Which also means they all featured the same Link. So no, Link to the Past was never a prequel to the NES Zeldas. The idea that it was a prequel stems from only one source, the back of the American version of A Link to the Past's box. There is a line that states "the predecessors of Link and Zelda face monsters on the march", and too many fans misinterpreted this to mean that the Link and Zelda in the game were predecessors of the Link and Zelda in the NES games. Two problems with this. 1. The text on the back of the American box is not canon. It was a product of the localization team at Nintendo of America. Specifically, Dan Owsen, who was the lead translator. NoA also took liberties with the manual translation, but mostly in a way that removed lore, not added it. 2. Even this text does not imply anything about Link and Zelda or the game's placement. The predecessors mentioned could easily have been referring to the King of Hyrule or the Knights of Hyrule, not the Link and Zelda in the game. This blatant mistake is also where the multiple Link theory came from. That was never a thing in the canon before Wind Waker came along. But this mistake by the fanbase caused Nintendo to actually scrap the original Zelda timeline and instead go with a rehash and cash model for the series, in which they would simply repeat the same basic story over and over and keep selling the same product to the dumb fans. There is even direct evidence of this. Nintendo released a Flash game on their website in order to hype up Ocarina of Time. Within this game there were some lore facts, and one of these mentioned all the adventures Link had been on. These included beating Ganon to reclaim the Triforce, awakening a sleeping Zelda, defeating Ganon's wizard Agahnim, and even waking a flying fish from a Nightmare's dream world. Thus driving home the point that the Link in Ocarina was the same Link as the previous games. Well, the Zelda "fans" didn't like this at all. One of them sent a letter to Nintendo asking them to remove that information since it was "causing confusion within the Zelda community". Nintendo, of course, buckled and removed the Flash game entirely. They had planned to add more content to it in the future, but that was scrapped due to Nintendo being conned into thinking that establishing a timeline was upsetting so many customers. And years after this, Miyamoto would make Wind Waker, the first game to actually break from the original timeline and go with the stupid theory of there being multiple Links. And he never cared about the Zelda series from this point on. It was just a cash cow from this point. That is why Skyward Sword had to make up an explanation for multiple Links, Zeldas, and Ganons. An explanation that still doesn't make sense in the context of Adventure of Link, where two Zeldas exist at the same time. This is also why the Hyrule Hysteria "timeline" exists, because Nintendo couldn't explain how the games connect because they were never meant to connect from Wind Waker onward. They were supposed to connect among the first 6 games with the same Link and that's it, but everything after Majora was given no thought to their timeline placement because Miyamoto abandoned the idea of a cohesive timeline after the "fans" made their confusion known. That is why Nintendo could never make Zelda 1, 2, or 3 connect to any other games, because they were supposed to connect to Ocarina of Time's child timeline. That is where the "downfall timeline" comes in. It's just an excuse for Nintendo to include games they couldn't connect anywhere else. So I blame the idiot fans who believed in multiple Links and games separated by centuries ever since reading the non-canon marketing jargon on the back of the Americanized Link to the Past box.

You know there are official interviews, of the dev. team talking about how they were making ganondorfs origin story but slightly changing it form the backstory of a Link to the Past right? Here... In past, when you thought about Ganon in Zelda, he was a pig. This time, when were collaborating ideas, we thought "He wouldn't be a pig, would he?" There were even some who thought "I don't want him to be a pig." But I still thought that at least the end should have Ganon as a pig. The whole time I wanted to know what Mr. Miyamoto thought, but in the end, I realized that Mr. Miyamoto didn't have an opinion on the matter, so I decided to do it the way I wanted. This time, the story really wasn't an original. We were dealing with the "The Imprisoning War of the Seven Sages" from the SNES edition Zelda. To give that game a little "secret" recognition, I thought that keeping the "pigness" in Ganon would be the correct course. So we made him a beast "with the feeling of a pig." Well, in that sense, "a pig is a pig." When he transforms, and we see the rise of face, there is that not quite concealed feeling of a pig left. (Character Designer Satoru Takizawa) -1998 Interview featuring Takizawa and Osawa -Ocarina of Time was written under the preconceived notion that it was the “Seal/Imprisoning War” Question: Could you please find how this game connects with the previous ones? Though in this game Zelda is now included in the Seven Sages, the other six have the names of the town names from the Disk System edition "The Adventure of Link." In the SNES edition game, the story "Long ago, there was a war called the Imprisoning War" was passed along. A name in the Imprisoning War era is the name of a Town later. They were like "pseudo-secrets." We wanted to throw these out through the entirety of the game. That thing from then is now this. Tarin and Marin, a father and girl who appeared in "Link's Awakening" (GB) were used as the base for a different parent and child who comes out in this game. These are the things that when they are seen by a person who has played Zelda before they will understand. If people begin to think "Do you think that this could be that thing from then?" then I will be happy. (Script Director Toru Osawa) OTL Comments; -1998 Interview featuring Takizawa and Osawa -Ocarina of Time was written under the preconceived notion that it was the “Seal/Imprisoning War”

@@ZHyruleFantasy It doesn't matter what the developers say. They don't decide the timeline of the games. Miyamoto was the one who decided that, and his original timeline is what I stated, Ocarina, 1, 2, 3, and Link's Awakening anywhere after Ocarina, which means every game had the same Link. If those devs actually thought Ocarina of Time was the Imprisoning War, then they didn't read A Link to the Past's version, and they probably believed it took place seven years before A Link to the Past, not centuries as the backstory implies. But what are the devs saying in that interview? Are they just talking about Ganon as a general concept? That's what it seems like to me. Instead of making him a pig or a boar, they showed his human form. Nothing about that contradicts Miyamoto's timeline. It also seems like those developers are saying they merely copied the story of the Imprisoning War, not that Ocarina of Time was the Imprisoning War. But no, Ocarina of Time was definitely not the Imprisoning War. Even Nintendo's busted timeline can't make that claim, since Zelda dies in the Downfall Timeline, leaving only Six Sages.

@@ZHyruleFantasy I'm not a Zelda enthusiast. I'm a Zelda pessimist. The series died with Wind Waker, and the Hyrule Hysteria "timeline" is proof that the series can't be taken seriously anymore.

@@BelieveIt1051 Well everyone has there opinions, and I'd say most fans think it's better than ever, Zelda was rocking a multiverse before Marvel lol. But if you don't like stuff, don't be a debbie downer for others, and yourself either, go do something watch something that makes you happy, that you enjoy. Life's too short. Hope the Zelda series stops bothering you, but we love it over here. Wish you well!
