I admit I was skeptical that this would work, particularly the down-hinge as step two. But this is really great instruction. And I watch a lot of KZbin golf instruction. Well done. If you’re a player that has consistently struggled to shallow the club and hit from the inside, try this.

Your swing series is so absolutely great! I have tried to improve since 13 years but I've never seen such wonderful instructional ideas, swing thoughts, drills and description of recommended ways to move.

Larry, your videos have really been an epiphany for me. I am always searching for that great mysterious sequence and timing that really lets me hit the ball solidly. For me, that feeling has come and gone from swing to swing, which can be incredibly frustrating. Your videos, specifically on the downswing, have really helped me find and understand that sequence, as well providing me great drills, triggers, and swing thoughts to really groove in that feeling. Thank you so much.

On down swing I've been focusing on right shoulder going down to right foot swinging out to right feel and having arms going out to ball if arms don't go out I hit pushes and pulls

Hey Larry. I used to be dharma.phil.lewis. You probably don’t know who that was, but I’ve been working through this series for about a month, and posted a few times on your videos. My account was compromised, so I deleted it, and made a new one. Just letting you know, I’m still working, and still seeing huge benefits. Thanks for your efforts in these videos.

Larry, I have been trying the techniques you demonstrate in this tutorial. A key discovery for me is that the squat and rotate move helps me keep my right foot on the ground longer. This helps me to rotate and spring very consistently. Both contact and direction are dramatically improved, for me anyway. So much so that I am using that swing thought (keep my right foot down) with good success. Wish I was closer to Toronto... I would be knocking on your door! Dave.

Larry, interesting concepts. Many golf instructors discusss as Jim Hardy has noted in a 2 plane swing, have hands going up and body turing around. Sam Snead seems to be a good classic model for your concept of arms extending back and in, moving the shoulders "with". Hope I am gettting this correct in concept as it appears to be a more "connected and athletic. Would like to learn more... Thanks

Been watching a lot of golf videos promoting this type of rotational move i.e. George Gankas. This is the first that has included a "down hinge of the wrists" min 2:33. Can you speak to the reason for this - or identify another video of yours that explains the value of doing this? - Thanks!

Larry, hopefully you see this on this older video, but thought it applies here......what do you like for the student to “feel” in the arms AFTER the down hinge? As we squat turn and rotate....are we trying to “bring the heat” with the arms? (Not by pulling BTW) Or are they more passive and being more brought around by the body? As I’m working on your methods and with the Superspeed system, I’m having trouble deciding how much I should be using the arm muscles. Hopefully this makes sense, sorry so long winded.

just seeing this now as I'm going through missed comments, I think i answered you in a more recent video, arm engagement should be similar to doing med ball throws =)

one thing that Larry didn't mention, that i found when experimenting with this technique, is that if you do this correctly, it actually reduces the strain on your lower back :).

By leaving the arms back while rotating, does this work to deliver a lower dynamic impact with the driver?

It could definitely help yes!!! =)

this is super effective, Larry. But since giving this a try I now struggle with a fat shot, (or if not fat, pick it clean with little to no divot, sometimes thin). And can’t seem to deloft the club and compress the ball as much as I did when I was steeper, any tips with that?
@LarryCheungGolf4 жыл бұрын
have to see the swing to be able to suggest anything worth while lol =)
@phillewis26164 жыл бұрын
So, the down hinge, I’m guessing is a feel vs real thing? Because it doesn’t seem to happen so dramatically when you piece it all together. Is this to encourage a more active release? Or if not, what is the reasoning?
@LarryCheungGolf4 жыл бұрын
the downhinge is just an intent depending on the golfer, but for people starting out learning how to build their own swing, its' good for them to get things shallowing and not pull their hands down =)
@phillewis26164 жыл бұрын
Larry Cheung Golf thanks Larry. I’m a beginner, and my coach actually told me to pull my hands down to begin the transition :( I’ve spent the first nine months playing, struggling with fat and thin shots. Since I started your “Build your own swing” a month ago, I’ve hit 300 balls on the range, and had just one thin! Previously, about 100 of those would have been fat or thin (I keep accurate stats, so those are accurate figures).

It has been interesting to see your videos and teaching so far. Can you explain why you want to get rid of the lag so early in the downswing?
@LarryCheungGolf6 жыл бұрын
Anders Molnes good question, I don’t really use the word lag in my teachings, i think it’s too misunderstood, but for most people, them downhinging will help them get closer to having “lag” than them holding their wrist angles. Holding wrist angles do no good. :)
@neutrino616 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Trying to hold the wrist angle does not help at all to create "lag"!

For sure!!!

Hi Larry, been following your channel and trying to improve my game. One question I have which I can’t seem to find the answer for is feeling of arms in downswing. I realize it’s almost a slingshot motion as you said, but does that mean they’re going to be wet noodles swinging through? I’m a bigger guy and I constantly struggle with using my arms in downswing. I hope you can help as for a guy that benches 300 lbs, I get outdriven by junior golfers a quarter of my size....
@LarryCheungGolf5 жыл бұрын
Definitely not wet noodles, the easiest analogy would be throwing a medicine ball to the side as hard as you can, you'll have to use your body to propel your engaged arms to do so =)

When and how much to left heel? Still 80% right heel on squat but when do you rotate to left heel?
@LarryCheungGolf5 жыл бұрын
I like 80% right heel during squat and rotate to start downswing, then everything will react and push up and rotate into left heel, there is no set time, just let it flow and react. BUT make sure its not squat and then rotate, its squat and rotate at the same time as a blended movement =)

I don't think you need to worry about release so much as long as you're sequencing everything else correctly. The release will come naturally.

Hi Larry, I've been trying this and noticed I'm hitting the ball fat a lot. Any thoughts on why? In just the half swing it feels pretty pure! Another question, when downhinging is that akin to having a straight line feeling from left shoulder to hand to club head? Otherwise, I can feel I'm using the ground a lot better and seem to get more power from my big muscles. Thanks for making these videos!
@LarryCheungGolf5 жыл бұрын
If you are hitting the ground alot, you are either staying down with your legs too long and not pushing back up, or you're pulling your hands down in the downswing =)
