Sometimes when I play mixtape I get really easy lobbies, like these guys cannot even shoot back, it is more fair to do melee only and shoot at them. If skill based matchmaking was there, this wouldn’t be possible, the game isn’t fair. So what’s happening? Engagement Optimised Matchmaking, if you win a game then the game will make you artificially lose games and then win to keep you psychologically engaged. How do they make you lose? Put you up against significantly better players and I’ve been of the other side where it essentially give you a free win. It is really toxic and the game doesn’t feel real. Did I perform well or was it handed to me? Did I play bad or is my opponent out of my league entirely? Am I even getting better, well you’d never know. You won’t see it in game where you start winning more no, because some games are given to you for free and some you are meant to lose.

Then you can have a new account, terrible to nonexistent kd, 20 games and 20 fat losses under your belt, and mixtape will still match you with the variety of skill from your level to Diamond or Pred players. And the “new players” at your skill level don’t exist on these dead and dying servers, so you get exclusively matched with the guys that stomp mixtape lobbies and put them off the game. I know this shit happens cause there’s always 2 or so accounts under level 20 in my masters lobbies 💀

I wouldn’t be surprised if Apex is shut down or put into maintenance mode in 2025. EA has a history of axing games that miss financial goals (Battlefront 2, BF2042, Anthem), and Apex would need a No Mans Sky or Cyberpunk-level comeback to turn things around. I have zero faith in Respawn to pull off a comeback before the grim rEAper comes.

Everything you said is straight facts. This game is beyone done for unless they stop messing around and try to make a cyberpunk level comeback. They need to start ACTUALLY giving us content, and maybe uncancell the Singleplayer PVE Apex Legends game they got rid of. I bet people would buy it, because apex feels like one of those games that was supposed to have a singleplayer at one point. Oh and they need to either get rid of milestone events, or make them far more worth it. The bloodhound recolor event was a good step in the right direction, it gave us two heirlooms. I personallly was able to get it for free, and it was great. Oh and more LTMS/Things to do, The Grand Soire collection event was a great example. They never did anything like it again.

One of the main reasons EA has been forcing respawn to over monetize apex is that EA sports and EA games are now separate entities and EA games profit margins can't be skewed by FIFA's profits therefor EA games needed ways to keep up to these profit margins of the sports game (Which is literally impossible because the sports game players will gobble up anything)

EA didnt realize how in love with the lore of Apex players were. How much we valued heirlooms, how they emphasized each Legend's story, how moving and captivating the Stories from the Outlands were. People mained Legends for the character, not just their abilities. Universal heirlooms were a mistake. This is when the game lost it's soul. The high regard people had for their Legend's very personal story item was ripped away. All just fluff now. So you seek to milk skins for weapons and Legends, but dont put the care you need to into these skins. They were lackluster at best. Give your artists room to shine. Dont just puke out mediocre skin after mediocre skin make them BEAUTIFUL. STRIKING. Focus on unique abilities and sound effects and SENSATIONS. Apex lost its marvel, which was in the artistry, and thats what lost the players. Now theyre looking at a sell out which didnt sell.

Their monetization model is just so predatory. Like they opt in for the super high price options and it’s a huge turn off. Why are collection events hundreds of dollars? If everyone could get the whole event for like $40 or something they’d be bought up like crazy and a higher amount of people would be happy. I don’t spend money on them cause the barrier to entry for the expensive stuff is just too much. Content helps obviously but they’ll never get the returns they want when it’s hundreds of dollars to get these cool skins. Most players like myself don’t buy a single pack atp cause why would we? It’s a drop in the bucket

I’ve played this game weekly For 5 years and it’s the first time I’ve just stopped playing. There is nothing to grind for besides ranked and even ranked has so many issues.

With leaks of cosmetics please keep in mind, they aren't stored in the game files the same way (so they're easier/possible to datamine; whereas game content is uploaded in a different way/time/place within the game files so they are often harder/impossible to datamine/leak) And with the leaks of the new cosmetics there were also leaks/rumors about an emp grenade and legend bans for next series of ALGS (which could make those matches a lot more fun to spectate)

How would bans even work when it’s 20 teams? Like maybe each team votes for 2 heroes and the highest % get banned? Would be nice. I would love for them to instead add max 1 legend per role instead in both ranked and ALGS

​@@xaultimateax Highest percent would win but look up ranked choice voting, you'll probably find something better than my explanation, it could work too. Each team ranks 3-5 legends (from 1 to 3-5), if any legend is rank 1 for more than X% of teams (commonly 50%, so 10 or more teams) then they are banned. If there's not a majority then the legend that received the least votes is removed from consideration and any vote for that legend goes to that team's rank 2 legend and it's recounted, if there's still not a majority the process repeats until a legend has a majority of votes. This would all be automated/fast (in the background) the teams would just select their legends and the system would do the math and spit out the ban Edit: P.s. I think a role lock would be terrible, generally the idea is to work at improving diversity of comp viability (it makes for more entertaining spectating). Role lock stifles the game unnecessarily. A legend ban would fix a lot of the issues with OP legends, they could have 2-3 legend bans to start (maybe increasing it if the roster size ever justifies it); and, maybe more importantly, any op characters/classes are only temporary (they want to be able to move that OP-ness around to keep the game fun/different/exciting; again, the legend ban allows competitive Apex to be shielded from that while the more casual player base can enjoy the chaos)

@ I agree that legend ban would be preferable over role lock, but I doubt they would ever implement a ban system in ranked. Similar as to how they will never implement drop zones. Role lock would not be as disruptive when it comes to startup time and would result in a lot of diversity by itself when it comes to lobbies. Also would fix the annoying support meta without having to nerf each and every legend. Lifeline, newcastle and mirage are fine if you are limited to one of those per taem

@@xaultimateax I don't imagine it'd be that disruptive, 30 seconds limit (tops) and everyone has their list submitted, the calculations would only take a few seconds (if that). They could most definitely implement it in ranked. Though, I doubt they'd ever implement something like this for ALL of ranked, I imagine it'd start at Diamond, maybe Plat Just because they haven't implemented drops in ranked (it'd be a lot harder than in ALGS, they have a special draft ahead of the matches and that would be a lot harder to work into Ranked) doesn't mean they can't/won't. They could just randomize poi selection; one group with 5 secs per team to select (you don't pick, it's auto selected) would be 100 secs, 2 groups (randomly assign each team A or B, the maps' POIs split into group A or B and each group picks concurrently) could bring the time down to 50 secs. Definitely reasonable/practical/possible. Again, I don't think this would be applied to ALL of ranked, just the higher ELOs I'm pretty sure they don't want/need to fix the support meta either. It's looking like Assault class is getting a makeover next, and while I'd be surprised if they don't tweak/lower Support's power a bit, I think Assault will be tailored to better counter Support (which would act as an indirect nerf) Role locks were terrible for OW and I, personally, feel like it's a cop out method of balancing; and I'm pretty sure you can't convince me that restricting character selection (role lock) can improve diversity, they seem fairly diametrically opposed (mutually exclusive) to me

I played Apex back in the day when respawn wasnt on EA's leash 24/7. Left and came back a couple years ago just to get destroyed by people that Exclusively play apex. It was so hard to just stay alive let alone get a kill. Its no wonder new players never come back, the game is chalk full of sweaty tryhards. Its sad because when Apex first came out it was such a new and exciting experience. Now its just a hollow shell filled with EA's greed.

Another reason is just a lack of game modes. i got back from school wanting to play some pubs but it was just a cycle of getting trampled by either an epg, buster sword, or pulse blade. Can we not at least have regular pubs always in the game??

I’m never going to understand why they don’t introduce ads into the game. And I don’t mean those distracting ads; I mean ones that are really integrated into the game, making it feel like big corporations are financing the Apex Games as part of the story. For example, before you drop, you always see the Apex logo-why not change that to something like Coca-Cola, with the announcer saying, “These games are sponsored by the Coca-Cola Company”? There are also plenty of screens inside the game while you play -why not use those as ad space too?

Skins just aren't enough to make people come back to a game, nor continue playing it. At this point, the only thing they could do that would bring a sizeable amount of players back would to make wallrunning a universal movement

Idea: Could they do what fortnite did Making a no ability mode for new players overwhelmed by abilities. It can add whatever mythic weapons or fun perk boxes to make it for just fun.
