@@TBHpodcast Hello Nerd. Regardless of whether it's true, the name of the channel scaling service wouldn't account for the "CONVERSATION that leaned in the direction of inappropriate", right? And if that were the only inappropriate thing about the conversation, what would prevent him from saying that, since both him and Twitch would benefit from that revelation? Same thing with the alleged "sting operation". He says he had inappropriate conversations with a minor, so even if it was a sting operation, it doesn't make him look better or worse. When I refer to "blanks", I mean coming up with theories to like "maybe they tried to get rid of him for being white and masculine to promote black streamers instead", when there is no reason to think that other than the fact that Twitch had some obnoxious woke people in positions of power. Or implying that there are some legal barriers in place that for some reason prevent him from providing any truths that make him less guilty, but DO allow him to say things that make him look more guilty. It comes off as rampant speculation to find any possible reason why there could be some nefarious plot against him. I think KZbinrs, and everyone, can confidently say he inappropriately messaged minors, because he said so himself, and that's enough for most people.

We did a bit of speculation to keep our back and forth going and keep a few possibilities open. What I offered was mostly describing Twitch "leaks" you might not have heard yet. Everyone else on KZbin is also speculating in synch with each other and taking the easiest dunks as the crowd goes wild, and tbh I don't think their uniformity of opinion is fair yet or even interesting.

@@kerodine Here's the funny thing, if it was sexual messages, all the big news sources that have made articles on the topic would explicitly say so, but all of them are very careful to not to. Nobody wants to ask why these messages Doc made, hasn't been leaked, or why ex-Twitch employees who have claimed to have seen these cleartext DMs don't share any contents of these messages, or even the court case where Doc has said he got paid by Twitch. Its suspicious Twitch would pay and dismiss him quietly if they hated him, when other streamers caught in similar situations (Hashinshin) would be would receive full hammer with 0 investigation or payout.

It hurts twitch to make a statement or release evidence it's a lose lose for the company to say anything, it's about money and to prevent lawsuits,either from Dr disrespect or the victim, it wasn't egregious enough in (their eyes)to let him go immediately,just enough that he can still brings in revenue, to try to make up for the large sum of money they were having to pay out for him to go. I'm wondering if I should be betting, that they were hoping he would keep going until his contract expired and then just announced that he was retiring from twitch!

They did an investigation. submitted information to the police, and banned him. Employees went public. It wasn't "sex jokes". Doc was making plans to meet a child.

this. love nerd but hes gotta just take the L on this one. im the biggest merchant for fair trial, innocent until guilty and all shit like that, and this unique case, with all information given and actions taken and confessions given, you cant assume the best, because the best is still awful. hes a terrible person and hes shown that in the past with the cheating stuff, people need to realise that actively pushing the idea that he could still somewhat be innocent is harmful in itself. hes not innocent, fact. hes terrible and needs to be held accountable, for everything.

@hapcot You don't settle out of court and keep everything under wraps, making sure the entire thing is a mystery whenever it's brought up if you're innocent, or unless there was some serious blackmail. He never said he was under legal restrictions not to say anything when asked, so he very clearly knew not to say anything because he fucked up.

@@TBHpodcast i agree, i think there are a lot of specific and contextual details being left out, but internet culture is such these days that you can end up being called a sympathizer for just saying "i'm not taking a stance on this until there are more details". people keep wanting to leave out how he said it was probed and nothing illegal happened. i find it hard to believe twitch would settle and say absolutely nothing about it if they had proof he'd done something against the law. he can be a total scumbag and also not a criminal at the same time.

@@kindredtulip3559I would also bring what Charalanahzard said to the table. Companies rarely ever report wrongdoings to the police or similar authorities. Sadly, that's what happens. He could've done something illegal, and just not been reported. "But it's wrong for twitch to do that!" Yes it is, but it's industry standard. Most companies will never report cases of abuse and misconduct. They don't want the heat, they don't want to admit, unless they're forced to. HR exists to protect the company. So, a world exists where Disrespect might have done something illegal, and twitch not reported it, and nothing out of the ordinary happened. No measures will ever be taken against twitch. Let's assume twitch did report it. Police will do nothing over text messages. Sadly, most reports about texts are immediately dismissed because the police have their hands full. It happens with everything text related, from death threats to explicit conversations. So, Twitch could have perfectly well known what he did, if he did something illegal, and not reported, or reported and police not acted, and that is just normal. Regarding him saying no wrong doing was acknowledged, I just think he will always paint himself in the best light. I take it with a grain of salt, and I think that's why people dismiss it. Of course he would say that. Whether it's true or not, what does it mean that no wrong doing was acknowledged, by whom, in which setting, no one but him, Twitch, and the victim know

The fact that so many people are assuming AND accusing him of the absolute worst and yet the doc still refuses to elaborate and provide context probably means theres a reason the doc wont provide further context. Nothing needs to be revealed unless the minor in question chooses to. Saying “we need to see those messages” is really inconsiderate to the fact that what happened involves a real person, a minor, whose life will be forever impacted by this (shame at being a spectacle, potential feelings of guilt, confusion if said minor was actually “interested” in Dr Disrespect, etc.) We don’t need anything. Show some empathy and humanity and acknowledge the reality of this from that persons perspective not just your own.

Whose life will forever be impacted by DMs? If your whole life is impacted by shit someone sent you in a text message you need to reevaluate your life. It sucks, sure, sending minors inappropriate shit isn't okay. But at the end of the day it's just text on a screen. You're making it sound as if someone was molested. What kind of world do you live in where you'll be traumatized for the rest of your life by letters on a screen? At some point you just gotta realize nothing of consequence happened, that you have a real life and you have to move on. If you let this affect you for years to come you're just going to make yourself miserable.

I defintely understand what nerd is saying and hes correct that theres not much public credible info on docs situation. But i do feel like with all the context clues we've been given (his admitting to texting a minor inappropriately, his game dropping him after looking into the situation, cheating etc.) I just cant really see him as an innocent person. Theres not really a way for him to come out of this clean. At worst hes a pdf file, at best hes a piece of shit who cheated on his wife and dmed minors on the side.

@@TBHpodcast but its not just a trust me bro. Twitch dropped him. The game company dropped him (and the only reason to play the game was cause of the collab). He made a statement about it on twitter (which confirmed he was texting minors) Ive never been a fan of dr dis tbh, but even without my bias, it doesnt look good. Nobody, especially 30+ year old married men, should be texting minors under any circumstance unless they are family. Twitch may be a shit company, but if the game company dropped him, and twitch dropped him, and he admitted to doing SOMETHING regarding texting minors. At BEST he has never acted on anything and he is just sick in the head, at worst he has acted on it and he should be in jail. Giving the benifit of the doubt is nice but all the stuff we know about points to him being guilty.

@@dariuszupan8145 Twitch dropped him but didn't contact the authorities. The game company dropped him (just like other game companies have dropped falsely accused devs). We don't know what the messages were, but people are comfortable saying DrD comitted a serious crime and Twitch covered it up. Instead of a criminal charge, he had an out of court settlement where he kept getting paid.

Wow, someone not jumping on a side of a debate without all the information being given. What a noble concept. Look, Nerd lays his thoughts on the matter out pretty clearly that there's not enough info being given about the topic for him to take a clear stance. 41:30 Collasal also points out here that Twitch has a bad track record of banning or de-monitizing people for petty reasons. It's like this: I could walk up to a child and start talking about religion, sexuality, or any number of topics that most would consider inappropriate to some degree. There's no actual messages or images showing what he said, so Nerd is airing on the side of caution to not instantly jump to "He's a pedo and was sexting a child" like many people are doing. Even the fact he tried to "meet up" with ther person at a convention is not inheriently bad, as it could have been (not saying it is, just saying for the sake of the arguemnt) to have them stop by his booth or something. There's no context to anything that's being alleged or confirmed, so Nerd is just saying it's weird everyone is jumping to the worst conclusion without anything being shown. This isn't like when EDP was busted and you could read the messages. It's all hearsay to a degree, and all DD said was it was inappropriate, which could be a any number of things, almost like a spectrum from "tasteless" to "illegal", as an example.
