Massive, massive 'SAME' from me, on your stance to so-called non-meta ships 😄. I also fly ships mostly *because they're fun* , not necessarily because they're supposedly the best for min maxing. So yeah, I'm still a Drake fan as well (along with a bunch of other ships that I'm supposed to have grown out of.) I've not really stopped flying it since T8 despite hitting T10 ... I've forgotten how long ago. I realised I was still enjoying it, so screw the haters. Cheers for this series captain, I'm really enjoying it, and thanks for the vindication too!

Which is better off for ratting cost efficiently, the drake or the cyclone. I know they are different ships but they are comparable due to being both tech 7/8 missile battlecruisers, and i'm coming form my CNI and Moa, nearly tech 7 and am getting a ferox, i wanna know which should be my option for missile BCs? Specifically for null sec ratting.

Face tanking Small/Med T10 Anoms is fun. A Navy Issue Drake and T10 Cane are really needed. The Cyclone ll Command its great and all but a heavy skilled Drake hull on T10 would blow to smitherines anything in its path. Besides, this hull reminds me of the ALIENS franchise. This totally looks like a Weyland Yutani ship. Maybe a reference with the Caldari being higly capitalists and patriots. Very fun and effective vessel overall. Nice vid Benzie.

And I guess the issue is with my i'm probably a bad pilot which is why I can't even do t7 in my CNI. Could you please make an update Caracal Ship Line video as the last one that u uploaded was like 2 years ago before the nerf.

I use it at t10 anomalies (small and mediums) with a kite fit. You can confortably sit around 40km and orbit. Most of the time you take no dmg at all. Depends on the spawning. Worst case you activate the large booster as you said. Will try the brawler fit. I like to sometimes change the fit just to spice things up!

I agree,I always use my Drake,Hard news encs it breezes them. Practicaly the same set up,riggs slightly different 2's rather than 3's and medium missiles,never thought about using Torps.. I think i mite give that a try,awsome video Benzie!

The answer to the title question is "of course you can!". Set up for maximum shield tank it can absorb an amazing amount of punishment. I run with a boosted power grid, run a large nosferatu, and shield command, and group shield booster. Orbit in brawling range (≈24km and medium rapids). Can tank almost anything. Stays cap stable with everything running and you just sit back and let it chew its way through the rats in whatever order it wants. Lower DPS than Benzie's build but over 110k ehp cold. Also makes a great support ship for a battleship heavy fleet, as it can chew through the frigates while the big boys hit the larger targets.

​@@captainbenzie The downside is that soloing T10's takes significantly longer than your build. Once I built it, I just didn't feel like sacrificing the shield rigs to put in missile damage ones, so it has stayed tanky. But there is something to be said for having an average shield resistance of about 90%.

I've been more in favour of normal med missiles. Range out for the small stuff, then brawl the bigger stuff. NOS TP and scram gives you the toolkit for both styles of fighting. MWD, SB, couple of reds and a BCS in low - took everything I threw it into up to T9 Large, and that was without a nano. Will have to give it another go with your suggestions.

I was mostly impressed by your frigate hits. Was thinking torps would do far less damage than you were putting out, for some reason. They get explosion velocity or radius buff? Been awhile since I played and distantly remember how atrocious that use to be at one time.

Actually have a slightly different build - using a mix of 3 rapids and 4 torps for high slots, which enable good application to frigates and destroyers (no need for web) and 3 medium NOS for full cap stability. Used a MW for faster management of bad spawn (where they are > 30 km away.....) rather than the AB. No need actually for the lg shield booster nor shield rig ; medium booster and 2 reds hardener is quite enough, even on Amaar T10 high sec.

As starting the game as a Gallente ship user, I love this ship and started training M missile skills specifically for it (which I can use on Gila and Rattlesnake too). Never thought fitting it with Torpedo can be this good tho with the range and ship speed. Well, are you sure that 580m/s from that fit is enough to keep everything in range even the angels in the scout/inq (or if it is not, how do you fit for that?)? I kinda have a trust issue with that so I usually go for weapons with longer effective range. Btw, I like playing with occasionally changing target, setting orbit, activating this, deactivating that. But my problem is I HATE it when all these are at "HAVE TO" level. So I usually fit my ship a bit overtank as a failsafe and do the active things myself. My fun is looking at a nice graphic of my beautiful ship doing their work smoothly with the set of modules and rigs I have chosen and given to them, and the visual effects and sounds of turrets, missiles, drones, and ships damaging and repairing, making me feels like I am really piloting that ship, in the same way as I feel like being my character in other games. The missile launching sound is a bit too loud tho

I just checked something out and it is so funny. M missile base explosion radius is 140m, while M torpedo base explosion radius is 125m, smaller than M missile. How?? Lol

Hmm I didn't realise medium torps have better application than normal missiles. I might try torps on my Orthrus.

Great video as usual Captain, always loved the Drake but unfortunately it was a toss up between bc and bs skills and fell in love with typhoon 2, so had to respec couple months ago. Torpedos requires ballz. Love this build. I think its the best for caldari because they're Shield base, so making sure ur shields are optimal... go for it. Great with Nosferatus.

When devs eventualy add ammunuition. Imagine the dammage drake will do using Inferno or Scourge (tehramal, kinetic) missiles. Can't wait to see my Drake dealing some crazy damage with those.

funny story. one of the new implants for missiles lets you pick the specific damage type you deal with missiles. It effectively gives you "ammunition" from EVE Online for missile launchers. Instead of omni damage, you can have them do 1 specific damage type at 300% damage (basically removes the damage from the other types and lumps it all into one).

My good old Drake there's nothing this thing can't do and no Nerf will ever change that just sit back and poop on your enemy all day with heavy missiles or heavy assault missiles or rapid light missiles (in Eve online) but no seriousness the three-story days are past plenty of online don't use it for PVP you are you are a flying free kill don't that is in single PVP in Fleet PVP maybe I don't really know I was very active in the fleet PVP scene and when I was a mostly fly Capital ships and no I won't share any capital ship fits with you come up with your own don't be lazy it's also a good way to end up at somebody's next kill Ramblin aside I really hope it isn't as overpowered as the Drake used to be in Eve online
