Harry Kane is SELFISH for playing through injury. FFS we were essentially playing with 10 men all tournament. He also kept a player in Ollie Watkins who can run in behind and who had 32 goal contributions in the EPL on the bench. How did Cole Palmer not get a single start in this tournament. Kane cannot start games any more. I think he should probably still go to the world cup. He is a leader. He would be a great sub. Great for a penalty shootout. But he cannot consistently start games for England anymore. Watkins or Toney both would have provided way more runs and energy/work rate. Everyone seems to underestimate the strength of the English squad. Imo, this team is so good that even a wrong football approach guarantees a final appearance. This England should have replicated what the Brazil 2002 team did. It pains when you heap praise on this manager, why does he keep playing conservative football with an attack-heavy team?

Spain simply was better team before and after the tournament. There's serious overestimation to england team and serious underestimation for everything else. England was lucky with what they had to go against in the fixiture and got lucky to go all the way to the final, second place is actually good achievemnt

Come on Rory how is this an era to be proud of, more like an era of serial losers like Southgate and Kane, look at who we played in all the competitions to get where we got to getting to two finals and the semi finals wasn't a big achievement in the grand scheme of things when you look at the teams we played to get there, where have we beaten a team that was level on par with us as squad quality because we didn't beat anybody in that time this is 8 years wasted under a manager that simply is not good enough as a manager to even manage a top half of the table of a championship team, and in all honest Gareth Southgate is not a manager at best he would make a decent assistant manager.

England played like shit all tournament and only made it to the finals due to a favorable draw and some moments of brilliance from individual players. Spain whole-heartedly deserved that win yesterday and were the better team... yet England had a chance. Once again, past the 80th minute, they equalized, and for about 3-4 minutes, the Spain team looked rattled. England had the chance to steal a win from underneath their nose, yet instead of playing aggressive and going for a win in regulation, Southgate went right back to passive, defensive ball; almost like he wanted to just stall until penalties, and the Spanish team ceased their opportunity. It's a real shame for certain individuals who laid it all out there, but England & Southgate did not deserve this win. Hopefully this talented side can turn it around in time for the World Cup.

Southgit should be proud of NOTHING.A half-way decent coach in these last EIGHT years would have won TWO trophies for England. He didn't take a fit LB to the tournament; he EXPERIMENTED in the first 2 game with TA-A, a RB, in the midfield; he tried to shoehorn Foden and Bellingham - 2 10s - into the team hamstringing both; he played Kane in every game when he was dropping deep, not running behind, and not pressing. Terrible team selection, awful, mostly late, substitutions.The team had no cohesion, no style of play, no get up and go; didn't take games by the scruff. He got the worst out of a tremendous crop of players. Nothing he did before he got the job showed me he should have had it in the first place, and nothing he did in the job showed me he should still be in it after these failures. Rant over; move along now; nothing to see here.

From a German with little less emotions I got to say. They looked lackluster sometimes. When Pickford recovered a ball you assumed them to to spread out and sprint forward. They didn't. Whatever hold them back. There was no glimpse of a tactical approach. The only thing you could see were some bits of 'kick n rush'. It's 2024 and you have that squad. I really thought once in a while that england is a shame for a finalist of European Championship. They just achieved it by their abundance of individual quality. It's time. It's useless to have any further analyses and discussions. It's simply time to move on.

Here a Germany fan again; I think a three-man defense would have served you better. In the game against the Netherlands, at least for one half (the first time in the entire tournament), we saw how the transition between defense and offense with good build-up play could work. Even though I generally would have been happy for you to win the title, I am still glad that Spain won with a much more attractive and courageous style of football. It is bad for football when a team wins with destructive defensive play, because it is unattractive for the viewers.

All true. But I will say, Italy have been doing that for decades and have won everything. England could have done with at least getting one trophy out of the last two euros. But I think building a team on defense requires great defenders and defensive midfielders, as well as a great goalie, but we don't really have that. Good and very good. But not truly great. Our strength right now is our midfield and especially wide players, so we need a system that plays to their strengths.

To be fair not taking a left back that was fit wasn't a good call but it didn't cost us. We got to the final and Luke Shaw returned and played well in that match. It's not the same as forcing one of Bellingham or Foden to play on the left. Play Gordon, try Palmer or play the box midfield that worked in the one match he played and then never used again. Kane not being dropped was another big mistake, not seeing Walker can't delivery into the box on his 100 overlaps is a even bigger one

Zubimendi comes on during a final and just slots in to a system and same with Olmo coming in for Pedri previously, and the winning goal comes from a Sub from Spain…just have to say well done Spain what a team what a manager they took the tougher route to the final and scored the most goals just absolutely deserved the win..

Southgate learned nothing from the criticisms from previous tournaments. Relying too much on favourable draws and penalty shootouts. Unfortunately it's understandable because any loss for England is treated as the end of the world. This means long term planning is not allowed in England set up.
