During the STV discussion I think you all hit on the topic that a lot of players and even Blizzard doesn’t seem to grasp and that’s that players think they want ‘power’ rewards when really the rewards that have felt the most memorable when earned and coveted by the community are those rewards that are ‘prestige’ based. Plan and simple. Some of the best rewards ever in wow are cosmetic and only available for a short period of time and therefore very hard to get - and it’s really cool when you have them.

Yeah its unfortunate the Blizzard made weapon skill so complicated. It's even more frustrating that to THIS day 95% of the population STILL doesn't understand it... and that SUCKS! It was heavily changed when TBC came out so most people have no clue what they are talking about when discussing wep skill in Vanilla. Which sucks soooooo bad. I can try to explain it, but it took me weeks of watching YT and reading write-ups about it to fully understand. I can't explain how it works to every asshole that doesn't understand it. Wish it was simple...

Scotty episodes are s+ tier. As a retail player that dabbles in sod for funsies, I'm definitely in the minority but I raid retail to get CE with the boys each tier. That's my goal - gear has no actual impact on me. My heroic trinket is more than enough to get me there. It's the prestige of completing difficult encounters. If sod added hard modes, I think it wouldn't go well. Classic players are way too focused on loot as their reward, and not completing difficult content - and there's nothing wrong with that. I assume speedrunners do it for the same reason mythic raiders raid.

Thank you Mel for raising the issue of how difficult it is to find a guild! I’m an experienced leveller in Classic, but never got around to joining a guild. I’m loving SOD, but need a guild to get all the runes. Also, I want to do the dungeons. Outside of the Blizzard forums, i’m not sure how to find one that works best for me. And not all guilds are responsive on the forums. Not sure how Blizzard or others could facilitate an easier process for players (old and new) to match with guilds. Love the podcasts! Catspaw

However, very few adults are willing or able to make massive personality changes. I hope this is an anomaly because I don't want to have to find another podcast. I also had no idea what he's talking about with a "good bad guy." After a while, I think I figured it out, but he SUCKS at articulating stuff. Hans Gruber was charismatic, educated, intelligent, and ruthless. In that regard, he was an outstanding villain. What that has to do with wiping a raid in hardcore, I have no idea. If anything, he's exactly like Hans Gruber, especially in the level of effort applied.

Gold doesn't really seem to be a problem in SOD, IMO. Gold comes in fast if you focus on it whether that be open world farming, dungeon farming, or quests.

@@carlnelson696 My experience has been mediocre at best. I hit 40 with about 5 gold. Did some questing to get up around 100g to buy a mount. I've tried open world grinding 3x and the best farm gave me about 8g/hr. That's boring af too lol. If ppl are playing 2-3 hours/day, 100g is gonna take them weeks if you count raiding/consumes/stv event/ab/etc. If you know a better spot, please tell me ^_^

SOME things, like "The Immortal," were definitely a huge step up from that. Beating Lady Vashj pre-nerf might also make the cut. In the context of this episode, it seemed pretty clear that Bob was thinking about things that would be beyond his capability, except in SoD.

As the resident GDKP enjoyer... Them outlawing it has been the most frustrating thing possible to me. I planned to run sod GDKPs throughout the season, and not have to join a guild with a pre-built community that had transferred into SoD. Them torepedoing my community because they want to force everyone into guilds is just frustrating. I dont RMT at all either so its just so annoying that im being penalized for others shit...AND IT DOESNT EVEN HELP THE RMT situation. Now I have to grind gold more because of their gold sinks too while the people that RMT'd before are going to continue to RMT funding the bots for their gold sinks instead. Honestly this has almost ruined SoD for me.

bob's right about tinyviolin. he's a griefer, what he did is not cool or funny, it's completely messed up. he gives mass shooter vibes and seriously needs a wellness check. the whole 'it's just a video game' argument is an L take - it's like stealing someone's bike and saying, it's just a bicycle, you still have your arms and legs, you still walk away and kiss your wife. just a bike. no! it was MY bike and you didn't have the right to take it! just like tinyviolin shouldn't grief, it's not right, it’s mentally ill behavior to want to do what he does

This is EXACTLY what I wanted to point out in the episode. His behavior is NOT normal and NOT ok. He has a serious mental illness and should be under observation and in a controlled space. Be thankful he is in a game hurting people and not in real life. But it wouldn't be a bad idea for local PD to have him on watch.

Been listening for a long time and first time I've wanted to drop a comment, but I wanted to express my dissatisfaction with the latest episode. For a while Bob's railroading of guests, constant interruptions and talking over people has been getting worse, but when he started yelling at Winky in this episode I just turned off. I love listening to people talk about this game, but I'm not interested in hearing yelling in a podcast about a computer game. I'll bow out of listening for a while and hope things improve.
