On a somewhat related note; I've been working with a gametype scripter for the past year to bring Reach Invasion to Halo 2 Anniversary Multiplayer! We are finally ready to release it, and are hosting the mode alongside a few maps in the custom game browser this Friday. One of the maps I made is a remake of ODST's Lost Platoon, which the H2A Forge palette lends itself to very well. Would love to have you there Friday!

This is why they added the elite as friends; The elites are apart of arbiter's faction, the swords of sanghelios. The UNSC is friendly towards them and frequently share ships and the arbiter helps out the UNSC when he deems it necessary, still I would prefer for 343 to add marines too. I do think they should have added more versatile friendlies as well. I think adding elites was pretty good but they should have added more things to differ the SoS elites from the banished elites or hell, even add the arbiter to fight on your side. Still, I agree with most of the points made in this video.

The Elite alliance doesn't really work in Infinite though, and it's not explained that it's Thel's Such a peculiar choice, might as well just given ODST's with a lot more health 🤷‍♂️

The friendly Elites still use the campaign voice lines, which means they will still say hostile things...

Ive played every Halo except 5. After 4, I did not want to be disappointed by my favourite game series again. Halo 4 wasn't completely trash imo but they dun goofed with 5

You can add me to that list. Halo 5 was the first Halo game I didn't play. I own it, but never played it. My brother and I used to play some version of Halo for hours upon hours with my friend and his brother. So many good times. Shortly after MCC came out, we played one evening of it, just like the good ol' days; and that was the last time I hung out with my best friend before he passed away. I haven't played Halo since, despite loving what it was (from CE to Reach). I know it's just going to be disappointing, so I prefer to preserve the memories we had together.

I played almost every halo on xbox 360 except halo infinite wich i played on pc tho i am thinking of buying halo 5 and playing it on legendary

halo 5 had a nice balance between objectives and waves - the objectives would either be to protect a location/ object or to kill enemies, but unlike infinite you weren't restricted to a small zone. Halo 5 also benefitted from having huge firefight maps and an even larger weapons roster, which just added to the fun. in halo infinite the maps are too small and don't work well as firefight maps, and the small weapon pool makes it boring.

Halo Infinite firefight DOES have friendly marines tho but this does depend on the map. I see them more often than elites. My biggest problem with HI's FF is the lack of map variety. After a while, I've just learned where everything spawns which takes a lot of the challenge away. Also while I disagree its that base FF is "just a power fantasy", Gruntpocolpyse definitely is & the grunt bosses in this mode are UNREASONABLY tanky for the sake of "difficulty" which I dislike.

I honestly agree with most of what you said, but I think they’re fulfilling different roles; ODST Firefight is like a Left 4 Dead, survive as long as you possibly can until you win or lose. Infinite Firefight is more like COD zombies, become a legend, and kill as many as possible until you win or lose.

Well first of all, they did add marine teammates to newer firefight maps, house of teash, a Halo Infinite campaign map was added in the launch of firefight, and finally, the Elites and Hunters being teammates feels to me a bit cheap, but it does bring back the Halo 2 memories when you release them from the prison and work together to break out. Plus, it does make sense from a lore perspective. I do think they need to make Firefight in Infinite harder, with the whole revival system being exchanged for lives like how the older ones were, and have less and less power weapons and ammo

Huh, after watching this video, I expected both the video and the channel to have more views. A long time ago now, I made a first person wave defense shooter game that I released. It was developed concurrent to the original release of Halo ODST, and was released shortly after Halo Reach came out. It took a lot of inspiration from Halo. I clicked on this video out of curiosity to see if I fell into any of the pitfalls in game design. My philosophy was to introduce more numerous enemies and new enemy types per wave, rather than just turning them into bullet sponges like Firefight / Horde mode. I guess that's the luxury you can afford when running on the PC rather than consoles that can only have a limited number of enemies at a time.

Reach was alright. I preferred playing with custom class load outs. Playing the map Outpost. And just seeing how long my lone Spartan could hold off the covy. As Reach burned in the background. ODST was definitely more grounded. The enemies weren't as deadly as reach. But again. You're only an odst. The struggle for survival felt real. Halo 5. Warzone FF I could take or leave. Objective waves could be easy. Fun. Or tedious. "Protect this building from countless Knights and Soilder spawns!" *Rage quits* Not played H6 in ages. 😊

I’m so glad you pointed out how the maps just don’t work. I’ve seen quite a few youtubers sing praise for Infin’s Firefight, yet I always wondered why they did since the maps are just trash. I knew I wasn’t crazy.

I hated halo 5 campaign but i gotta be honest 5's multiplayer was some of the funnest halo ive ever played. Including warzone firefight. Dont sell yourself short by not playing 5s multiplayer

LIke you said, it really does feel like a modded in mode. The way enemies spawn and react to their environment is awkward. Dude's spawning in plain sight is embarrassing. They get stuck on their environment so often. I've had boss enemies get sent flying out of bounds due to how tanky they are and softlock matches since they get stuck.

There are ammo crates and weapon pickups everywhere , This is isn't reach you can't just sit your ass in one spot with the dmr and never run out of ammo.

@sargeantBones depends on the map. And i dont know how anyone can sit in one spot in Firefight. i certainly dont. And yet i constantly run out, especially when those ammo crates you talk about ARE CONSTANTLY EMPTY

@@uglyunicorn6859 Gameplay never fit with the maps, maps were kind of poo in general for that type of fire-fight. Whenever my friends bring up firefight, its always ODST, no one EVER talks about Reach cuz it was a snooze-fest.

My biggest dislike about odst firefight is the damn catch skull. Why do they just stand there spamming grenades it's very annoying, I wish there was a way to turn it off. Although it does make firefight more challenging and more fun.

I disagree. Halo reach firefight is probably the worst. For starters the lack of on map weapon pickups(except for the round start power weapons) makes the experience very samey. The game offers you some loadouts but I think that kinda just gets rid of the diversity in terms of how a map is played. Additonaly the maps aren't great imo. They are basically reused campaign areas and because of reach's sandbox operates most of the time the best strat is to just camp one spot with dmr because of the infinite ammo resupply. I always go back to infinite firefight because ecen if not all the maps work as well as they could there is at least some diversity in how you can approach things and even a wider selection of vehicles to use in said maps besides just the damn warthog. I also disagree about your points about the brutes in halo 3 odst. Brutes in halo 3 are hands down their worst itteration. All the ranks besides like 2 behave the same excep with different colors, the basically die to 1 melee hit and are some of the msot braindead piss easy enemy in the halo franchise. There is no strategy to em. Infinite has so many more unique ranks of brutes. Brutes can be shielded or not making you consider what weapon to use, they can be ranged fighters or berserkers, they can be snipers with the skewer. I think this video is just poorly made and fails to provide a decent analysis on firefight and the sandboxes of these 2 games.
