I joined Techless leading digital product in August '24, and I also felt a weird sort of churn in my stomach after hearing how long WPII pre-order was drawing out. Spencer, you explained everything very well. The sour feelings you experienced are 100% valid. I agree that the pivot felt sucky. Appreciate your transparency and you making this video! One question I heard was about if the phone is bricked if there's no active subscription on the device. The phone is usable without a subscription, but the apps are paired down to bare necessities: messages, phone, contacts, and clock I believe.

It sounds like there’s too many compromises with this alternative device, rather than the one they wanted to bring out. The OS seems somewhat of a mishmash of android and whatever they had intended to bring out but it also seems still too much of smartphone than a dumb phone with all those apps. It’s all academic for me as it’s not available here in Scotland, but I’m also not in the market for a device like this as I’m awaiting delivery of my light phone 3… no, I’m not paying the full price as I preordered when it was £400. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 It was interesting to hear your thoughts on the phone and what has happened to the company too.

Thanks for the comment! I will say I like how they are going about the tool drawer. There are just some tools I need as a dad, husband, etc. makes sense they are still calling it a smart phone - just an intentional one! I too preordered Light Phone III. Excited for hands on review!
