just finished the video, and it's great. I would would consider myself a leftist (as in, socialist, not American democrat), and I think the way politics is discussed on KZbin is awful. I think it's great to criticize things through a political lens, even KZbin videos, but it shouldn't be a requirement. people like Charlie are, well, people. Just because someone doesn't use political theory in their videos, doesn't mean they aren't political. I would encourage everyone to read theory and find something that really makes them think, but some people don't have the time to read a bunch of books and essays, or just don't care to, which is fine. politics isn't for everyone, and sometimes people just like to hear something funny without any major political implications. also the use of political lingo in non-political KZbin videos just turns away people who haven't learned it. It serves as a form of elitism if you don't explain it or make your intentions clear. I would also like to mention that some people are treated as inherently political, which is dehumanizing. I am transgender, and sometimes I just want to live my life without people trying to debate me over it. And as a trans person, I want the same rights afforded to others without it being some controversial topic. I want to discuss my grievances without getting shut down because it's associated with politics. Also, as a rule of thumb, if you are baked, don't discuss important issues that require the full use of your brain. This video was a pleasure to watch, and surprisingly nuanced. If you want to read the theory of my school of thought, check out the Marxist internet archive. I am currently reading The Condition Of The Working Class In England from Friedrich Engels, which supplies useful context to the conditions that led up to socialism's popularity.

Omg, you wouldn't believe it, but I actually stumbled upon the Marxist Internet archive while making this video! I believe it was the work of August Babel, specifically the short chapter "Woman In The Future" when I used an example of over half of the population finally getting proper rights because of movements that were breaking the mold back in the day in this video(you know, the argument "against everyone being followers"), so I'll definetly read up what you've recommended, it sounds very interesting, thank you! We share the exact same opinion when it comes to seeing putting people in those labels as dehuminizing - and it's not like I don't understand that groups which were and still are in many places oppressed don't feel defensive, I just think at some point we're not helping the case of normalizing these character traits, beliefs and own circumstances when we're making it a big part of our personality for everybody to know, like that's one of the main thing that defines us, which it shouldn't be, it should simply be normal and people shouldn't care that much, it's just a part of us that doesn't define who we are as people. As you've realized, I didn't make this video to bash political thinking or critique, I just think it's so damaging how there are so many consumers and creators who quite literally can't look at the situation or at a person from any other angle other than "oh, typical socialist" "this type of radical thinking..." "such centristic perspective" etc., especially towards a public person that's simply not political whatsoever, so speculation on "they're this, they're that" can get weird and intrusive if that's your main(and many times only) argument against them. Creating a battue out of a fake narrative formed in their own heads while spewing populistic facts (very) loosely connected to the argument at best - if that doesn't sound like insanity through bashful eristics then I don't know what does.

@@Iserpesnod it's very rare that I see people who are open to having honest discussions on the Internet, but maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places. I'll have to check out that work you mentioned, it sounds interesting and cool. I'd love to continue this discussion, but I am a student without much free time, and my medication just wore off, which makes it difficult to focus, or think very deeply. I'm just leaving this quick reply to mention that I am thoroughly impressed with your attitude as a content creator, and if you would like to discuss anything further, I would love to, when I am able to.

@@Chrds40232 Hey, don't worry about it, whenever you'll have some free time to spend in a fun way come hang out with the rest of our community, you're always welcome here! I'm always open to have an interesting discussion and share some thoughts with everybody around. Also, I partially know how it is, as I spend most of my nights to work on videos, which is not healthy but we only have 24 hours a day and I'm not even monetized yet so yeah, I can't exactly do only this so it can get quite busy sometimes as well. Other than entertainment my plan always was to give at least 1% of viewers something to think about - social platforms allow us to bounce off and share our own perspectives, knowledge and opinions so easily it'd be a crime to create an echo chamber out of it, such a waste, but you're right that a lot of places on the internet are exactly that way which hey, it works for a lot of people, so who am I to judge, I simply want to have something different on here, I personally think the internet is lacking something like this so it's a perfect opportunity to change that. Wish you the best with your studies as well! They can probably get quite hectic while off of the effect of meds so stay strong!

Oh, if the question would be "should youtubers make any political decisions" the answer would be resounding no from me 100% of the time, that's why I specifically said I'm talking about the inclusion of politics into entertainment focused youtubers. Would you call me a centrist because of my comedy style? You know, that type of thing. It's just so odd to me how people focus on labeling those creators seemingly just to prove their own point of "no! my side is better!" and I don't want random to the conversation folks being used in this way, that's malicious

I also agree with what you said about the "what you listen to affects you", as the veeery old saying goes "you become what you surround yourself with" - I've read it from professionals, I've experienced it throughout life myself and I've seen people change because of who they listened to and that's why I truly think that's the case(at least to some extent) as well! I really don't want to be political, so I apologize I won't be able to tell you exactly my personal beliefs back, but just know that I don't exactly disagree with your last point as well - to put it lightly I'm not the biggest fan of "extreme" takes and echo chambers like the ones you've mentioned, or any other one for that matter
