In 2004, he had the brilliant idea to try MMA; he lost in 22 seconds against Belarussian kickboxer Alexey Ignashov (who fought Shinsuke Nakamura twice). Once WWF ended in popularity then he gave up on it. So, it's easy now to sit back, after 20 years and talk about how this or that didn't work but that Attitude Era really was a different beast compared to whatever it is today. Plus, you know 20 years from now, the Brawl for All will still be talked about compared to whatever has really happened over the last few in WWE.

People try to deny this, but its the truth. I know many people who watched during this era that stopped watching towards the end of 2000/early 2001.

I believe n fear we gonna get Vince Russo/Jim Cornette part 3 when the Owen Hart Special comes out if it’s true that it was Vince Russo that help pitch the idea of Owen Hart coming down from the building.
@kevinlee99294 жыл бұрын
It wasn't Russo who pitched it. The company that did the Sting stunt approached Vince about working with WWE. Vince came to Russo about finding a spot for it on the show. Thats how it came about.

@@superlex611 Vince McMahon had already performed a similar stunt in 1996 at WrestleMania 12 with Shawn Michaels. Its crazy some people act like it had never been done before. The episode could have really used Bob Holly and JBL ´s take on the whole thing. Russo barely adds anything to the whole thing and just repeats himself all the time. Also J.R. doesnt come out as genuine and seams like he is bs you and wont admit that the thing was rigged for Dr.death to win.

Bart Gunn was top fighter on roster, which is often case w WWE lo or mid card guys. Lack of charisma or fan support keeps them down. Zero reason he could not b pushed as a solo talent. BG could 1 punch ko idiots behind the scenes. He beat 1st opponent n 1st round n mma. Same opponent Butterbean beat in later rounds. He gave up before a mma rematch because they wouldn't give him enough time to train properly. Now he has a normal job, somewhere.

For someone like Cornette. You can’t help but expect that level of loyalty to wrestling. Think about what his life has been thanks to wrestling. Probably is more successful than he would’ve been without it. It’s like some people’s love for music. When something has given you everything, you’re bound to be protective of it.

32:00 I don’t think that was necessarily Bart Gunns fault, the company lied and went out of their way to present it to him as if it were a boxing contest, and hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if they explicitly sold it to him as a straight boxing match, to absolutely remove any chance of him winning.
