tbh in general looking down on canned foods is so arrogant and kinda stupid. Yeah on technical level using fresh gonna show that the cook can work with the produce (which is a major point in Master Chef I know), but for example if something is off season, and the texture is not the key point, the canned stuff might give more of the desired flavor than the fresh. +for a home cook it's usually a big money and time save.

Yeah if it's out of season and vital, I can totally understand...... but TOMATOES? In a dish that's hardly had much to done with it beyond frying scallops? That's just lazy

Yeah I don't get it either, it keeps them fresher for longer, it's almost as bad as the distain for microwaves.

@@Silverphantom24 Microwave is fine...IF you're cooking at home. If you're cooking at a restaurant, especially a fine dining one, customers are expecting to eat fresh food, not reheated slop from 5 days ago

Having a stupid moment doesn't mean someone is stupid overall. EVERYONE has the occasional bad moment, especially when they're under stress.

Sadly, that's reality TV for you. If you make one little honest to goodness stupid mistake, it becomes so over-exaggerated that everyone, even the judges, the other contestants, and practically the entire world will believe that you're stupid overall.

As dumb of a choice as it was to use canned tomatoes in that setting, I don't think Whitney's dumb moment makes her dumb overall, let alone one of the dumbest in the history of the show. Watching the season left me with a much different impression of her than if I had only learned about her one dumb moment.

What I hated about David the most was actually the team challenge in the food truck. He was in charge of making burgers and he was giving his team raw burgers. He even said he was putting them out faster than they could cook. When they lost and got called out he kept saying over and over “not because of the burgers!” The main course of that food truck was burgers, it was mostly his fault and he wasn’t taking responsibility and tried blaming his team. I couldn’t stand him after that.

Here in Latinoamerica for the MasterChef Chile version, we had a woman that prepared a CHICKEN CEVICHE 🤦‍♀️ and for those of you who don't know, ceviche is a seafood dish consisting on raw fish!! She served the judges raw chicken!!!!! She was immediately disqualified without the judges tastig her dish because of health safety reasons

@@chizukim5440I suppose she mistook the chicken for the fish aside from the most obvious one. There's a huge difference between salmon and salmonella in a wording sense, and somewhat chooses the latter.

depending on time of year and what the weather was like during the growing season canned tomatoes can be much better then fresh. Immediately rejecting the idea of canned makes the judges look like idiots

I'm a big fan of cooking shows and have every, Masterchef (US, UK, AUS, CAN) I have every single Top Chef, Masterchef Jr from all mentioned contries, every original Iron Chef (Japan and US) and on and on and on. You know what I don't have? Any of this vapid series. It is dreadful and Ramsay and Blaise should be embarrassed. The know the 'chef's" are dreadful and mostly are on about the level of a mom-and-pop cook that wouldn't know Basil for Tarragon and probably never even use either. Buuuuu!!! you have Ramsay, and to a lesser extent, Blaise running around trying to make what is deadly boring to any modestly capable cook and they are hooting and hollering (metaphorically speaking) about the amazing creations. This show is truly terrible on almost every level, scuze de pun, The concept is fine but Ramsay (and let me be frank here, generally I love him) but this is a complete mess. It is mind-spinning how bad this is and only the most ardent Ramsay fan could possibly find any redeamable features. I could go on... I won't. Do not watch this crap! Find a re-run of Iron chef in Japanese and watch how true chefs do it insted of Ramsay trying to put lipstick on a pig to try and generate a few more Benjamines.. It's awafu, what can I say? Well DUH! I was talking about Next Level Chef, not MasterChef. I stand my my appraisal of N.L.C. but apologize for the glaring error..

That is strange. I don't watch television at all (except for KZbin) and I never take anything at face value. To stop watching a programme you like because it is fake is silly. It is supposed to entertain. You don't know any of these people personally. They might as well all be actors going by script. What does that matter?

Well, the British give me grief for pronouncing "garage" the French way. Incidentally, most Americans pronounce it the French way too. There seems to be no system to it. (It has nothing to do with who is the centre of the universe).

The fact that they were so stunned by her using canned Tamatos just shows how classy and uptight those pricks are canned Tamatos actually have a way better taste in Tamato sauces especially San marzano Tamatos

yes, but at the same time she was given access to a full blown pantry with the freshest fruits and vegetables, they probably expected her to take it over the top since the show is 'masterchef' but I can see your point.
