If you're worried about the lava fitting in, you could tie it into the story of the game by having the room directly below it on floor 2 have a furnace/volcano/lava pocket theme. Then the magma is both a hazard and a hint at trials to come.

Hey Tango- a little bit of "storytelling" makes even "ugly" blocks (the magma cubes) more aesthetic: my idea is for you to place a campfire over a haybale under the magma cube - the "advavnced" campfire releases a consentrated smoke vent that has passes through any solid blocks above it- creating an arctic hot spring effect and if you ever saw documentaries on yellowstone national park you'd know about glacial ice around volcanic hot springs can kill anyone from the boiling hot water that falls in (connecting well with the "magma vent at the bottom of icy rivers" thats something I do often withy water ice and magma blocks and the effect is quite fun- might work well in the river cave area

I think the idea is more of a custom map where all the little stuff Tango has to do from time to time is done via command blocks so you could play over and over and not have to go through and reload things, just have a command block do the creation of new items and reloading of stuff. With the server download you still have to go through and maintain the game just like Tango does which of you don’t follow his streams and videos you might not know how to do it all, and even if you do follow everything there are some things that he might not ever show on camera.

Decked out idea: I had an idea with your directional skulk sensors contraptions you talked about on stream. They don’t activate when you shift. Make a place where you are supposed to be quiet (like maybe a library themed room as you should be quiet in a library) so you have to shift and that keeps a secret passage open. But if they walk it closes and they will never have noticed the secret passage is there. I thought of this after seeing the latest vod on tango tek 2. Maybe Tango already thought of this btw, but was keeping the idea a secret, if so, sorry. Btw love the progress and your skin! (For the people that are confused why my name is now different. My original yt name was my irl name, so I changed it so people wouldn't know anymore, cause I didn't want that. I think Tango mentioned in his first Decked Out video this season how the compasses would be named based on what level they pointed to. I also think they would look more natural if they were placed a bit lower in the river. Like the earth split to reveal the magma... You would still get the bubble column, but not have it as immediately visible. If it were placed even deeper, you could put a secret lower chamber & have additional bubble columns placed strategically for air. Trap the trident zombie down there where the ravager can't go... If you timed it so that the ravine gets bigger/deeper when certain checkpoints are reached, that could be cool too.

Hey Tango, absolutely love Decked Out and so pumped to see the progress!! Was thinking a bunch of cool ideas to implement still in Level 1 - here is a list!! 1. Incorporate Frostwalker Boots somehow (either with armor-stands to freeze/unfreeze parts of a lake, or maybe even as a later upgrade for the player). This could be used to open / close secret parts of the map as well, or trap the player. 2. Give the player a 'Freeze' effect over time (could be a special effect unique to each level that affects the player other than KLANK, and in this case would maybe slow them down) 3. Hide a nut!! 🌰 - Definitely a reference to Ice Age, but it could be like a super secret / moving artifact that is really hard to obtain because it only appears for a few seconds and then moves to a different location. 4. Polar bears! Just a nice aesthetic touch but they could also be a thread. Keep crushing it Dungeon Master!! Definitely worthy the new skin! 🙌🏼

I think for the quest giver statue, there should be some kind of cost in order to activate it, so players can’t gather multiple quests and pick the easiest one. Seemed to me that statue room is a bit of a detour from some other locations like the accesses to other levels. If not, Ryan's suggestion of costing ember should make it sufficient.

Also, why not add sinkholes with double piston extenders on the buttom, so not only do you have to look out for dripstone but also for sink holes.
@tito_me_doe676
@tito_me_doe676 Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily a restock, more like a replace. There can be hoppers or hopper minecarts under the floor that collect the fallen stalactites and Tango just needs to put them back up occasionally. Now, you could combine the sculk sensor idea with the total chaos mechanic, where you have farmland with seeds (so it stays tilled) then trigger a dispenser to release a stream of water down a path through the farmland. Observers below the dirt observe the wetness level, and when it changes, it triggers a piston beneath the observer dropping the stalactites.

I have tried to rewrite your story a bit shorter for you. What do you think? Honoured guest: Have you put any thought into this ancient place? Layers of tunnels twist and turn underground. Beneath, artefacts are hidden about. The dungeon crumbles within and like all things, a beginning must end. Can you delay what is inevitable? Do you, dungeon delver, accept this burden to help preserve it's history?

Two things: First, there are still some transparent ice patches on the floor in the frosty areas where you can see out of the bottom of the map. Second, it might be fun to have some bonus Phase Points that can be earned besides the 10, 5, and 2 for placing with VPs; maybe you get a point or two for things like "Most Runs Attempted" or "Most Runs Completed", which shouldn't be too hard to track, or something more involved like "Most Secrets Found" (maybe tracked with tokens, or maybe with skulk sensors and redstone logic).

Love to see how deaked out is turning out! But tbh I do not see the point in having separate "victory points" and "points", it seems a bit confusing for players. Would it not make more sense to have one type of point and the top three of each phase gets extra points? It would also encourage competition among hermits who will struggle to place in the top three but still wanna compeat with hermits of a similar skill level. Nevertheless, I'm still super excited about how its turning out.
@memyselfishness
@memyselfishness Жыл бұрын
No, actually, having it be the same points throughout the whole run makes it harder for others to catch up. Let's say Etho plays well and consistently and gets 10 points each phase. By the end of phase 5 he's at 50 points. Now, let's say Keralis doesn't play all that often, but pushes really hard in one of the phases and scores 35 points. Keralis is now behind Etho. However, if you go by points per phase, Etho got 2nd and 3rd a handful of times, so he has 16 points. Keralis got first in that last phase and now has 10 points. Keep in mind that your victory points are reset each phase, but your points aren't.
@samuelpalmer3855
@samuelpalmer3855 Жыл бұрын
@@memyselfishness I would say it's a vocabulary issue. Calling them points and victory points gets a little confusing after a bit. Maybe calling one something like "Prestige score" and the other "dungeon points" would make it less confusing.

@@memyselfishness I completely agree, I think during the last run of decked out, players like Etho took to much of a lead that it discouraged other players from playing more often and really getting into the completion because they’re were no hopes of catching up.

Hey tango! Really excited to see how this season’s decked out develops. Just food for thought but I think it would be awesome if there was a ‘sabotage’ element included were a player could find another player’s head in the dungeon, and then if they retrieve it and submit it at the end of their run, the next time that hermit (who’s head was found) plays the game they have a sabotaged run, perhaps signified by a noise or different soundtrack, and they have a forfeit (like potion of slowness or something) or the run itself is just much more deadly!

Love the DM skin, perfect for this! One possible concern about the victory conditions: do frost embers carry over from phase to phase? Because that would open the game up to some serious meta-gaming where not turning in embers at all for one or two phases and saving them for the remaining phases could give you a pretty significant advantage over someone dutifully submitting their embers every phase.

suggestion: add some water canals through the dungeon, with drowned probably that way you can make a minor non important room a really good access point to another part of the dungeon on the whole other side of the map, kind of like among us vents. also some fishing place would be cool that way you can spend precious time fishing in the crypt(maybe for a quest or just food) also for the third and fourth levels it would be cool to have places you can trade some items found in the dungeon itself for making some noise to distract the wardens or maybe just some secret item frame or button that pressing it would make a noise somewhere in the dungeon to distract the wardens. also it would be cool to bring some companions to the dungeon, maybe a villager for distracting the ravagers or something like that hope you liked these ideas
