Guard Recovery Fundamentals Online Course: guardrecoveryfundamentals.com/
If your guard sucks and keeps getting passed like a hot knife through butter, then Guard Recovery Fundamentals is for you!
The first ten lessons are about how to maintain and recover your guard in a self-defense scenario. This is the foundation for the whole course, and it was passed directly to me by my coach, Fabricio Werdum.
I'm very proud to be teaching these drills because there are not many people in the BJJ community who are aware of them.
Also, if you have wife and kids that don't train Jiu Jitsu, then this is the perfect introduction to the art. Not to mention that these are real life-saving skills!
We will then move to the sport Jiu Jitsu and talk about the main differences between the two, especially regarding the distance management/control.
You will learn how to establish safe grips, safe guard, and when necessary recover against the most common passes, like the knee-slice, over-under, leg drag, long step, double-unders, and stack pass.
Last but not least we will go over the Cocoon position, which is the foundation for an impenetrable defense. When things go wrong and your guard gets passed, the Cocoon is the place to stay until it's time to recover again.
Most of the escapes originating from the Cocoon are gonna go through the turtle position, so the final part of the series will cover in-depth that aspect of the game.

I decided that in my BJJ I start everything from the beginning. I need to focus on simple and effective techniques and controls. I'm starting watching all your films from the beginning. I like your style. Simple, control, technique and strength!

The opponent can go north/south if you're controlling both his sleeves.
@MMALeech
@MMALeech 4 жыл бұрын
He can, but he won't be able to establish the N/S position. All you have to do is go belly down and recover while maintaining double sleeve control.

In a fight you wouldn't be holding sleeves

@@MMALeech So prof, how would you apply this concept in a fight or at least when you are on your back? Actually you could hold sleeves in a fight if the opponent wear a long sleeve shirt, but let's just say MMA for this time.
@MMALeech
@MMALeech 3 жыл бұрын
@@looksmaxxerMMA you will rarely apply this concept in a fight because the behavior of the person on top is different than the one in the video, which focuses on sport. In a fight or MMA the person on top will try to punch/strike you instead of trying to control your pants in order to pass the guard, and if they try to pass the guard they will most likely hug or smash your legs together instead of holding the pants, which will allow you to shoot for underhooks and get up to your knees, instead of recovering your guard. BUT, in case they try to control your pants/legs you can still use the same technique especially in MMA, where the gloves allow for a tight grip at the wrists. The Nogueira Bros were masters of that wrist control with MMA gloves.

@@MMALeech So we're controlling both of his hands with both of our hands, but wouldn't his knees be free to strike our head and rib?
@MMALeech
@MMALeech 3 жыл бұрын
@@looksmaxxerMMA how effectively can you strike, without loosing balance or getting reversed, when both of your hands are tied up at your waist? Remember, grappling in a real fight is not about not getting hit, it’s about not getting ko’ed, because getting hit is gonna happen no matter if you are a professional or a hobbyist.
