The realistic braid doesn't show up in render view (both eevee and Cycles) how to fix? The anime style works just fine

Convert it into a "Curves"! Something with Blender probably updated, a curve object itself is just points, not faces, so it can't have a material. Converting it into a Curves solves it

question.... is there a way to change the little threads at the end? I know there there for the realistic but when its in anime mode I kinda wana make it just taper out with out the big bulbs at the end so much. is there a way to do that?

Thanks a lot for your Geonode setup! It works great, however the optimized version does not render when rendering in cycles in Blender 4.0. The unoptimized version seems to render fine however.. I tried realizing the strands as instances but that also does not seem to work. Any pointers?

First of all, thank you very much for this incredible generator! We wanted to ask you a question, if you have an animated character who walks, is there any setting so that the braid advances with the character? Since the anchor point of the node geometry advances, but not the rest, so it's as if it were stretched like rapunzel hahaha, thank you very much

I'd recommend rigging it in that case. Attaching the points to a rig and link it to a cloth sim perhaps so it follows some fun physics?

I really appreciate this! Im trying to make this really long braid in form of a star on the floor surrounding my model, what Im finding hard to manage is the root of the braid it doesn't look very uniform like the rest of the braid, I wonder if there's a fix for that? also every-time I extrude the braid to follow the star path the braids become thicker, I wish I could just have a continuous length through out.
@NinoDefoq Жыл бұрын
Hiya! Well, those things are all being set in the geometry node setup. The thickness of the braid depends on the length of the curve. You can set your own length, but that'd be a bit of work to figure out if you're not familiar with geometry nodes yourself. Have a look in the geometry node setup and check what controls the "thickness" of the strands. It should be named Thickness in the 3 hair strand groups. Try disconnecting the "spline parameter" nodes, but make sure only to do it for the thickness values. That may also make the start of the braid more uniform.

a question, how to save the geometry nodes to use them in other projects?
@NinoDefoq Жыл бұрын
You can mark your geometry nodes as an asset and use the asset library to drag them into your other files. The other way is to simply append the geometry node setup.

Love this tool and its helping me a ton right now! Seriously love your tutorials on the new hair stuff. I had a couple small questions as I have been using it last few days. 1. When I switch to the realistic hair mode even with low amounts it completely tanks my performance in the viewport even with a 4090 and insane PC specs... not sure what is the bottleneck for that? The other hair systems are very fast for me other wise so not sure if its just the complexity of the nodes? 2. Is there a way to convert these nodes back to a particle system to export as grooms? Whenever I try the curves -> convert to particle system process it doesnt seem to do anything and I cannot apply the nodes once they are set. Not sure if I am missing something though! Still new to geo nodes.

Hi Steve! Thanks for the love and the comments! 1. You had me struggling for a bit to try and make this setup more "PC Friendly", but I'm happy to say it worked! I'm going to make a short updated video on it and update the .Blend file on Gumroad so you can use this new one that works WAYYY better in terms of performance. 2. With the new setup I'm about to share you'll be working with empty hair curves instead of actual curves. This means that you'll work with actual hair grooming. In that mode, you'll also be able to convert it from a empty hair to a particle system with ease. Stay tuned! Thanks for the comments :)

I love the idea, but when you start a tutorial with everything already setup, to the point that all you have to do is draw a line with a pencil and your braids appear... Id say its not user/beginner friendly. I guess you made this video to show off what can be done, not HOW. The whole thing is already setup I start off way different
