You can skip one step. if you know the sqft, divide by 33 and you will get your bundle count. We pretty much only use Hover and Eagle View for hard to measure jobs. Save a lot of time. Great video!

You cannot estimate a valley like that, same with cottage style roofs, you math only works for gable roofs, it is probly best too estimate the old school way, plus the home owner likes too see you measure the roof.
@MrJFoster19844 жыл бұрын
Good for giving an estimate which is subject to site visit and measure. Seperates the time wasters from genuine customers

I have used this before. Go heavy because I don't think that Google Earth accounts for the rise. I have feel short using this method. A 3-5/12 don't have a dramatic rise in comparison to it being flat. However a 12/12 is a big difference. Hope this helps.
@Average_Roofer3 жыл бұрын
Definitely have to account for rise on steeper roofs. I should have mentioned that!

You will go out of bizz, just drive there set up a ladder, measure it and check for things like roof rot, layers of shingles etc, home owners like too meet the contractor, if you want too close jobs do what I say, I get 9/10 roofing leads, located in saskatchewan.

That is above average mate, shame on you for having a great idea like this 😂. I use normal Google maps to check some measurements. Our Google earth image is no where near as clear as yours, it just pixels out. Cheers
@stixprogaming27184 жыл бұрын
Instead of the taking 888 dividing it by 100 the x 3 just go 888 divide by 33.3 then add 5 percent, cottage roofs add ten percent

I was just simplifying it for the homeowners. Thanks for the advice! All input is appreciated!
@svenben9868 Жыл бұрын
Hmmm, Interesting. I think you made a spelling error in your title... Lazy is not E A S I E S T.. For me, If a homeowner calls for a quote. I believe it is for 2 speciffic reasons.. 1, obviously the cost. 2, Just as important it to get a feel of what kind of person the contractor is. Relateabilty and personality sells the job as much as a good reputation and price.. If I called a company for a quote and Later that Day I recieved aaid quote in a email. without meeting the contactor, talki ng to get a feel of how he thinks and most important how he responds to my concerns.. I would return the same effort. No call, no text, no email. move on. Jesus PRETEND atleast to be personable not give the impression your time is being wasted. Just my opinion
@Average_Roofer Жыл бұрын
That’s your opinion. However, the majority of people nowadays simply don’t have the time to schedule appointments and meet in person. Yes there absolutely are customers that would like to meet and do request it sometimes. However this isn’t just for contractors. This video also helps DIYers who need the knowledge on how to calculate material list before tackling their own project. I understand what you have stated, but it’s a situational circumstance.

Not that I am aware of. You can only assume pitch. Which is generally pretty simple if you know the basics of 4/12-12/12

That is very in accurate. You don’t get the rise off that app. You have to factor pitch in or you will be short material.
