People say the echidna's reproduction strategy is weird but I think their high intelligence and ability to dream is the truly odd thing about them. They have such low metabolism and tolerance to low-oxygen environments, I expect them to be stupid yet somehow it is the opposite. People describe evolution as _"survival of the fittest"_ but a more accurate description is _"survival of the fit enough"._ Their intelligence must be important to their survival, it can't be just some added benefit on top of their other abilities.
@chrisdaignault98454 жыл бұрын
I mean, they're the fittest in their niche. Everything else wasn't fit enough, so they are indeed the fittest of anything they've previously been competing with.

My dog (yes, the one in my profile pic) once barked at an echidna for four ours. My dad let her bark for so long because he thought she was barking at rocks again 😂 he was so surprised to look into the hedge to see a smol spiky boi curled up, and then promptly took Peach away. Could you imagine being that poor echidna and being barked at for 4 hours?? I bet it just fall asleep 😂😂😂 Peach didn’t hurt her at all, she just barks so don’t worry.

As an Australian I really appreciate this video. I love echidnas. Another common problem, particularly in rural/remote areas is echidnas getting hit by vehicles. Their beaks are often hurt, and a broken beak will invariably leads to the echidna dying of starvation because they can’t find food or “chew” it.

Aw I didn't know they wobbled. I've never actually seen one move before. That is just too cute 💛

Echidnas continue to remain safe in their numbers, because maybe, no one wants to wear them for fashion, eat them for dinner, or take them home to their children for pets, or show off as a trophy! They have the winning combination! If only some of our other species might become less favored for "cuteness!"

The echidna's excellent eyesight is what helps them collect treasure.

Unlike Hedgehogs, Echidnas don’t chuckle, they’d rather flex there muscles. They are also always protecting the master emerald

Okay... The Chaos Emerald thing got me GUD! xD Love it! Also, I LOVE Animalogic, SO MUCH. Thank you all so very much for creating this educational and fun content. Oddly, as a youngster, I cared very little for learning, and now as an adult I can't control my urge to learn. Funny how that works out isn't it.

I saw an echidna for the first time in Australia a few months ago! They’re my new favorite wild animal! Thanks for the informative video!

Watching an echidna scratch itself is wonderful, they release clouds of dust as they do so. It's also great to watch them burrowing, the rate at which they do so is incredible - and again, there are clouds of dust as they dig.

Thank you for covering one of my favourite local species so accurately. I regularly cross paths with one or more just walking my dog in the bush just 10 minutes away from my home. They just wander along, seemingly without a care... But, don’t try an pat one... we previously had a resident pair in our garden, and I made that mistake only once...
