@@thegrimmretails3777 I thought because the movie failed projected ratings for American audiences per an agreement with Fox so a series wasn't ordered and the BBC had to wait until the rights completely reverted back to them to make a new show on their own (which was the 2005 series)

In the UK it did very well, in the US it did respectable considering that it was put up against the finale of Roseanne, which was the most popular television show at the time. It's so incredibly tragic how this incarnation starts off with almost child-like wonder and a sense of adventure and by the end of his life, after Charly, Lucy, his great grandson Alex, Bliss etc, he's become so jaded but still clings on for dear life, the life of the doctor and when he fails to save Cass, reality sunk in that the Time War is something he can no longer ignore, and that the universe no longer required a Doctor but a warrior. Out of all the incarnations, the Eighth Doctor has lost the most.

Almost every doctor throughout the history of Doctor Who has/uses a particular item on his person that's iconic.... Patrick Troughton with his recorder, David Tennant with his glasses, Tom Baker with his jelly babies, Matt Smith with his fez, Peter Davison with his celery, Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker with their umbrellas.... If Paul McGann had stayed on for more than one story he would've probably used that magnifying glass!

A number of Doctor’s used glasses. The “brainy specs” as 10 called them (in the 50th 10 and 11 even praised each others). I’d say for tennat it was more the sandshoes, or magic flying hair. For Matt Smith it was DEFINITELY the Bow Ties; he wouldn’t shut up about them. The fez was more of a one or two or few time thing. It was more something he really wanted to wear, that no one else let him. For Peter Capaldi he’s got a few options. Not so much in series 8, but in series 9 onward it’s between the electric guitar and sonic shades. For 13 it’s probably something inconsistent like her character. I mean 1d and barely noticeable like her character. Or maybe something really convenient to the plot that doesn’t actually really have any depth or real substance like her companions. I’m sorry the writings just so bad.

John Hurt's War Doctor audios are incredibly underrated. If the character is interesting -- and he is --the audios are a must to more fully grasp the story of the Time War and the evolution of the Doctor to meet the challenge of the Time War. And 8th doctor's evolution to the darker character in itself is interesting as a story especially with McGann's light-hearted doctor undergoing a massive change as the reality of the Universe crashes in on his psychological makeup profoundly.
