Yggdrasil has several animals living on it. There is Níðhöggr, gnawing on the roots, four stags named Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr, and Duraþrór that feed on its branches, an unnamed eagle, a hawk living in between the eagle's eyes named Veðrfölnir, and finally Ratatoskr, a squirrel that travels between Níðhöggr and the eagle sending messages and telling lies to both.

My theory about the giant sword is that someone like Sartr from Norse Mythology prolly said 'I AM ELBAPH'S DOOM!' and hurled the sword into the ground and underworld when the tree was still small thousands of years ago. Then the tree grew up while taking the sword up with it.

So off topic but I was wondering how the straw hats would each get down from the bridge. Here's what I got Luffy- We saw and he just jumps Zoro- he's tough so he'll just jump and be fine but that's boring so let's say he uses 1080 pound Pheonix to cut a branch/tree down and run down it as it fell. Or he uses the move to cushion his fall Sanji- Moon Jump his way down Nami- Ride Zeus Down Ussop- Go D. Ussop will simply make the ground soft with his Conquer's Haki. Or just use a pop green and use it as a cushion or make one that's a spring and land on that to bring him down safely Chopper from New York City- Guard Point or just take a ride with Zoro or Sanji Now for the straw hats that's not there. Franky- He's hard boiled and he'll jump. Or if want to give him the Franky Shogun the just jump, or if he has his bike then ride down the same tree that Zoro cut down Robin- make herself a ladder or just jump down and herself some wings Brook- you got me I have no idea but probably just run down a tree or cut off a leaf and use that to float down Jimbei- Fishman karate on the snow to bring it to him and then slide/ride it down If yall have some other ideas on how they can get down, I would love to hear them. I just only put 5 mins of thought into this

*Yea I highly doubt that was the New Warrior Giants base. That’s why they were sent there & nobody was actually there or shown to be there. It’s likely just an abandoned detention center like Road stated considering this is their Helheim & Loki is being held nearby. I really don’t see the PRINCE of Elbaph making something like that his base when there are other castles (that are even bigger) just laying around. If anything he’d likely be on their equivalent of Midgard like we seen in the Big Mom flashback when he was younger. Road probably uses this abandoned place as his “castle” so he can do his D&D LARPing thing & Gerth said they’re even aware he’s doing shady things over here but as long as he’s leaving innocent humans alone they just leave him to it but apparently no one has been there in a while.*

I'm not sure if you've made a video about this before, but something that interested me in the chapter is that they mentioned Loki's devil fruit is normally "passed down the generations" in the royal family. How exactly would that work? From Smiley's death in Punk Hazard I think DFs "reincarnate" in a random nearby fruit? So when a king dies, do they just look through all of Elbaph's trees until they find it, or does a king who knows he's about to die goes into a special room filled with fruits to make sure his power goes into one of them?

This is one of the better interpretations of Yggdrasil I've seen in a long time, closer to how it's actually portrayed in Norse Myth. Some interpretations of the world of Norse Mythology does actually divide the world into three sections, not all are the same, but one such version have it be split between into three layers: the lower tier or the "underworld", where Niflheim, Muspleheim and Helheim are located; a middle tier where Midgard, Jotunheim and Svartalfheim/Nidavaliir are found and finally the upper tier or "heaven" where Asgard, Vanaheim and Alfheim are located. Again this is just one of several interpretations, and we sadly do not know which one, if any, are the correct one. But the way Oda made Elbaph look is really sick. The fact that a snowy region is located at the base level of the tree makes me wonder if Oda went with design of the world. I hope so, cuz it's cool as hel.

I disagree, the village Big Mom stayed at was probably in the higher level, not at the bottom. Theres a reason why Goldberg and Gerd descended from there, because thats where they live, and thats where Jarul is as well. We saw Shanks visiting only the edge of the lower level, where the temperature is more mild due to the ocean.

I have a really big theory and some head canon here bear with me here. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Elbaf sort of tied into King Arthur lore? Obviously there’s this huge sword that we’ve all been seeing and I’m curious about that. This sword is stuck inside of Yggdrasil. What if Elbaf had been waiting all these years for the true “Sun God” to come and pull it out? To claim the actual throne and what we have been getting are just “fill in kings” until the true king has arrived. Perhaps that’s why we’ve been getting so many “fake sun gods” and they’ve been waiting on Luffy this entire time. Before anyone says that sounds crazy, let’s all remember Luffy is only bound by his imagination. He can become a giant in gear 5 so that can tie into the lore. Perhaps Luffy will pull out this sword and maybe him and Loki will have a duel because Loki feels as if he is entitled to the throne? Let me know what you guys think!

Honestly, in Norse mythology the line between human, god and giant gets pretty blurry. The Aesir, Vanir and Jötnar (giants) are more like different ethnic groups of gods and the Aesir intermarry with other groups all the time. In fact logically speaking there can't be a single Aesir that isn't at least part giant. So Having these groups appear as different families or clans in Elbaf makes sense.

Also, Tekking, the Jotnar were gods too. Contrary to popular belief, they were not, in fact, giants, but distant cousins to the Aesir/Vanir, and they were also gods. Sure they were gods of chaos and darkness, but gods nontheless.

Here me out, what if the sword we see was joyboys? Heres my reasoning; so we know/can assume joyboy was either a giant or a buccaneer due to the hat we see at mariejoa, and we obviously know that joyboy had the nika fruit, we've seen luffy a regular human expand to that of a giant or bigger with the fruit, so how big could a giant/buccaneer get? Now in the nika silhouette we see he has a sword so I don't think its wrong to try and connect it to the one in Elbaph, but what if just as the rulers of the world left their swords at mariejoa to signify nobody would rule, what if joyboy dug his sword into the tree to symbolize that he will never stop fighting the war? Just as loki said he's the sun god who will destroy everything what if the original sun god made a vow to "destroy" the world but his motives were different?
