I just remember those long nights, cuddled up in my blanket in front of the t.v., it's 2 or 3 in the morning, and this song would come on and i'd feel this... indescribable peace. like I was truly home in this game. how so many of the songs in oblivion did that to me is something I can't explain, but I know this: I've never felt a greater serenity in my life

same. This game made me and my Xbox One... until I played it on PC and installed mods! I did that, hooked my PC up to my TV, got a controller and man the hours spent is unreal. Bethesda are practically my family, so fucking excited for Fallout 4 (different series with a less serene feeling though)

+PixelReviver well cant compare them other then the sense of adventure FO4 is a shooter and not very "fantasy" as Oblivion is, dont get me wrong both games are great, even IF oblivion is awsome :) and the soundtrack in oblivion, i am in heaven when i listen too them

Had excactly the same experience as you with this. Getting out of those dark caves into the open landscape, and this comes on. Just stood there enjoyoing the view with this indescribable peace inside. The real world faded away, my small CRT TV and my headphones became reality. Pure magic!

I've seen a ton of comments say that Jeremy Soule came up with this song after a car crash. I've never had a near death experience so I wouldn't know, but it must've really shook him and made him very reflective based off the somber, melancholic, and sometimes straight up angelic tone of the ost.

I played this game in January of 2023 and despite skyrim being my first elder scrolls i've got to say oblivion is the best elder scrolls game without a doubt. The story is better, its more immersive, Its simple but unique, perfect soundtrack. I remember coming back home after a long day at school and loading up oblivion on my series x, it really is the perfect game. And it really felt like there was a huge world out there.

Whenever I hear this, I picture myself walking through the Shivering Isles at night, and seeing Crucible and Bliss in the distance. A few Dark Seducers are walking ahead of me on the path, and recognize me as their lord Sheogorath. At their salute, I cannot help but feel lonely and sad remembering the Madgod's last words to me as he was engulfed by order. As they leave, I summon Haskill to ease my conscience. Together we bask in the beauty of the Shivering Isles, as it is what Sheogorath wills it to be.

I've got a big thing for the Oblivion soundtrack, my favorite song is on there, but I think this song captures the heart of the soundtrack much more, and it's much more than "hehehoho vidya gaem". In case you don't know about the history of this soundtrack, but Jeremy Soule almost died while he was working on it. Pretty sure it was car wreck or something, dunno for sure. Point being: he should have died. After that, he scrapped all his work on this soundtrack & rebuilt it from the ground up with a completely different perspective: For Soule, this soundtrack channels his appreciation and love of life. -and I think this song captures that more than any other. Whenever I listen to this, especially at night when all is quiet, everything seems to just fall away, and not in a bad way. All of the details & noise of everyday being just feels so superficial in that moment. When I listen to this, all that fades into irrelevance, all that remains is is the heart of why I love being alive.
