The fact they don't even introduce an offline mode so fans could still enjoy it after it goes offline forever is a real shame. Game preservation should be a thing. I never really played it much, as I'm terrible at card games. but I loved the art and enjoyed the videos I've seen youtubers make of the story mode.

sharing here for anyone interested: the saving grace that makes a legends revival _theoretically_ possible is that the legends client is built in unity, which is a pretty malleable engine. i have been digging in the files since the announcement, and the biggest and most significant hurdle is that the game doesnt actually contain any of the cards in the game, just their assets. my theory is that its sent to the client during startup (i have yet to analyze the network traffic to confirm this), so between that and the matchmaking system (could be p2p instead) we would need to rebuild a central server to connect to... _but_ other than that, modifying the client would be relatively trivial. almost all of the rebuilding effort would have to be on the backend. EDIT: that theory is wrong i found the card data. so just the matchmaking i guess but none of this touches mobile, which i have no experience with and im not sure how easy it would be to modify an existing packaged apk in a way that also makes it easy to download and use...

I played the game since March 2017 and I loved it. I always hoped that it will get an update one day. We had a healthy community with about 2.000 (more or less) aktive players. Alone about 1.000 players reached legeds rank latest season. Sad, sad day.

Hello Dareloth, I am one of those who left after Invade was introduced. I was also an avid Charmer and Justin fan. Today I logged on after many years offline and saw the message. I then proceeded to queue up and played against an Invade deck and remembered why I left lol. Such a shame but as much as I tried to give this game another try they just truly ruined it with Invade and they never did anything about it.

My biggest memory with the game was that I wanted to unlock every premade decks, expansions and stories for free so I would make an excel document to calculate how much time I needed to achieve this, considering I only had time to do daily quests back then. I've always loved daily quests in this game because they rewarded me for playing something else than my meta decks in ranked mode.

Friend, you were optimistic about Legends till the very end, and I remember you still being hopeful not long ago that they'd pick up Legends again. I've been playing since before they added invade but took a long break, and you've definitely been my gateway into the Legends community and reignited my love for the game. 2 favorite memories I watched all of Justin Larsons videos and I got to interact with him a bit because of it through comments. In 2018 he shouted me out on my birthday in a shadow-archer style deck video. My other favorite memory would be dropping a red year with ancano on the board and barely winning a match I had absolutely no business winning. Putting this game on PlayStation would save it from dying in my opinion.

Such devastating news, and this is the first I've heard of it.. I played hardcore when the game was released. I put plenty of money into it. Then I went on hiatus. The game was already in maintenance mode by the time I returned. Despite my own frustrations with invade, I quickly fell in love with the game again. My greatest joy was to produce thematic decks based on lore or fun mechanics; always aiming to place fun over "the meta." Legends stands toe to toe with the most notorious card games out there.. but what those other games are not is Elder Scrolls, and that made Legends number one. I haven’t been on in a while, but there was a comfort knowing all my Skeever and Sweetroll decks were just a click away.. but no longer.. What truly heartbreaking news.

Favorite memory would probably be each and every time I started picking up on a new mechanic in the game (exalt, pilfer, slay…) It was overwhelming at first so I would take my time to master a mechanic before I would move on to the next. The excitement upon building a new deck using a different mechanic was always the main hype for me. That and building thematic decks just for the fun of it.

Favorite Memory: Playing Token Spellsword for like 7 or 8 months straight without touching any other deck from Core Set to Heroes of Skyrim. Was a fun deck, and the devs came out and said "yeah, its got a high winrate, but it's fun so we aren't touching it"

Man, I'm devastated, ESL has been a constant for so long I honestly love this game so much, there's nothing like it. I've been playing since the Beta :'( Thanks for all your content Dareloth! My favorite memory with legends, was the spotlight I did with Schwaaard. It was the catalyst for inspiring me to make my own channel and he helped me out alot. A runner up would be when you gave me a shout out on your "Why you should play Legends" video. I have so many good memories with this game. I remember with so much affection and nostalgia its golden age and all its fantastic protagonists: Justin Larson, Warrior 7, Plzdonhakme, MattOblivium, Ianbits... And the Quakecon tournaments, wow! They were epic, with all their amazing players (Thuldir you're a legend!). With TESL really goes a piece of my heart. After the announcement 5 years ago, I abandoned it to try something else. But after a couple of years, I came back again, and was amazed to see how it was still so played and active. I seriously think TESL is the best cardgame ever made. This announcement almost seems to have killed TESL a second time. I won't hide it: Bethesda I'm kinda hating you...

My favorite memory of TESL is actually while playing MTG. We'd do games of Commander with 5 or 6 people. Turn rotations could easily be over 20 minutes. Somebody would see me looking down at my phone (not on my turn of course) and everyone would start hooting, hollering, and booing. They enjoyed teasing me for playing TESL. I enjoyed telling them about the insane and totally off meta combo decks I would build. Ring of Namira, Ebonheart Oracle, Dawnstar Healer forever!

This summer, I was unable to enter the game for a week, it stuck at the loading screen. So I went to Bethesda Support asking for help. To my suprise, they still offer service for ESL! At last I solved it of course. As an online game, ESL could be shut down some day, but I never thought it would be so close...

My favorite memory... I remember watching tournaments early on in the game's life. I can't remember the player's name, but he ran an aggressive strength willpower deck and placed very well. The deck only consisted of core cards as that was the only available cards at the time. I remember screenshotting the player's deck build and copying it. I still run that deck till this day.

While it was always satisfying to see that cool mechanic you dreamed up winning a stream of games in a row, my favorite memories oddly tend to be from times when my opponent pulled something totally unexpected out of the bag and left me smiling at their ingenuity or occasionally even thinking 'I didn't know you could do that!' It's truly sad that Bethesda could create the finest ccg out there and then let it go (Things like the Invade mechanic could have been balanced back by something as simple as allowing an Oblivion Gate to be Silenced). But its other great legacy are the community and content creators that have followed Legends. They are amazing people, and their coming together is every bit as great as the game itself - if there is a way back for this game, I don't doubt that they will find it.

TBH I thought it was already when the news of it being discontinued few years ago I believe. Haven't played ever since, but had fun memories of this game, it was the card game I played and delve into de most. Really went into understanding some key concepts that would later be useful in my life as game dev when thinking about balancing options (like how the lightining bolt is a 4 cost 4 damage card and mammoth is a 4/4 body for 3 mana as a cornerstone). Also had a lot of fun with the content creators at the time, I remember watching every video that came out of Justin Larson, the DragonTamerBlayde and CVH. Ahhh those were the times

TES Legends and ESO at those time were really my favorite games. TES Legends stories were to me really nice and i was happy to have more information abouts the Great war. 2011-2018 was probably my best years as an elder scrolls fan. I was too young when TES IV was released but had a blast playing it after i discovered the serie with Skyrim. To me Legends is part of the Golden age of Elder Scrolls. When i see elder scrolls Castle and shitty Starfield... i m really sad and scared for Elder scrolls VI (If it get release at some point).

This is sad man, I never played any CCG besides this one and never played any other Elder Scrolls games. I tried Heart Stone but I didn’t really like the gameplay nor the artwork. I hope there’s another company that will try to recreate something similar to this one day where you can buy actual packs with codes that you could use online just like Pokemon or Dragon Balls. That would be a good way to pay for the servers and whatnot.

The problem is not that game was easy to play for free. There was so many ways to make profit: they was able to make premium avatars, battlefields and some other stuff for real money. Biggest problem for the game from the beginning to the end was lack of marketing. I remember times when ads of Gwent was everywhere. But official promotion of Legends was just Pete Heins playing the game on his stream (still, thanks to him), few trailers and few tournaments. Just some Zenimax fools decided that game doesn't need promotion. And now we are here.

Man so many memories, never made it to legend but was really close to getting into that official tournament finals, got beaten by the #1 spanish player, my best win was againts the champion of that tournament in one of those monthly gauntlet, i was matched with him and thought my run was over, but againts all odds i won and got my 12th win, also used to run a channel with guides of how to beat all the story chapters with budget decks (no epic nor legendaries) on hard mode, i also remember getting a rush of joy when i saw TheJustinLarson suscribed to my channel and that pushed me to keep doing it and even contemplating doing decklist showcases or just regular gameplay on stream, and then they dropped the bomb of maintenance mode and welp… gonna miss this game, if an unofficial release comes out i’ll join in a heartbeat.

I remember it was a summer night way back in 2017 that my friends and I discovered legends. I miss those nights of playing against eachother's most cursed decks and I will forever remember the bewilderment of my friend Jack when I equipped my portcullis with a sword and swung face for the win hahaha. Those were simpler times but I played and collected all the way through each DLC and expansion and I have over 600 hrs in the game now. I loved playing this game, and while I do wish the game had thrived a bit longer, I'm just happy to have experienced it, especially as an elder scrolls fan. It was a good run.

This game got me through some of the roughest patches of my life - through injuries, illness, loss, and sorrow. I'm gonna miss it so much. My favorite memory: when they used to release bonus cards outside of sets, some random programmer from Direwolf did the voices for them. They're really funny and they really stick out (no offense- those guys design games; they're not voice actors). Dushnikh Yal Archer is a prime example. That is not the sound of an orc. I think they made that same poor guy do a few of them.

I genuinely loved this game so much. I loved all the unique stories in the game. I'm not even a big art person and I loved the art styles of every single card and it added so much to the game for me. So many fun times on this game, I played since I was in middle school and remember downloading it on a road trip when I was 12. Hurts to see it go but I hope they try another card game at some point in the future.

can't even download it on steam it's not available. Gonna have to play it on the phone. Which sucks cause I wanted to make a roleplay series based on the story campaigns.

I remember when they released the game, I was already playing It into beta .. and the first official release set was soooo good.. super balanced.. It IS a shame that i was just looking to know how the state of the game was.. and well.. 😢

The first death mark was when SparkyPants took over. A lot of cards got gutted and nerfed too. Regardless, for invade all they needed to do was make the buff activate every other invade. With everything costing 1 gold, thus making everything available, then they could make it a single player and offline game like minesweeper.

Favorite memory of this game is when the Skyrim expansion came out and I used Paarthurnax's Roar. Second favorite is when I got all the premium versions to my favorite deck

I am mostly here for the lore videos, but it is interesting to hear about legends. I'll definitely give it a shot since getting a collection is so easy. Hope someone can get a copy up and running! No significant memories of legends honestly, played very little when first came out, but the first game I played on pc was oblivion. It was a horrible laptop that would burn me if i wasn't careful, I loved every minute of that.

i hope they will incorporate this card game into TESVI like witcher and gwent, it would be a missed opportunity to not use it not only would it reuse some of what they developed for this game it would also add more content for the upcoming game

Es una pena enorme que termine. Llevo jugandolo durante muchos años, es un de los juegos en los que nas horas he invertido en toda mi vida, me da muchisima pena no poder volver a jugarlo.
