I think I started watching your videos because of Han Tony. Things keep gettin better. I’m 68, and an e-scooter fan. Love the battery construction AND the diy thing. Am taking baby-steps in learning LI tech, and construction. Have several high performance scooters and one hyper scooter (the RION THRUST). When my first 40+mph scooter had a severe electrical problem, I decided that THIS was going to be my hobby. Instead of throwing that problem-child into the closest dumpster, I began ordering DIY LI battery books, researching repairs (electrical) and testing TOOLS as well as basic ratios to be expected. In my younger days, I worked at Brandon&Turnage Race Cars, Custom Engine Specialties, and Bob Glidden Enterprises (Google Bob Glidden). Now I’m into High Performance PEV’s. If I could make ANYWHERE near the money NOW, that I made THEN, WOW!!! And this is a relatively NEW industry. Have already cultivated close friends in the state-side Graphene battery industry, that are motor-heads, just like me. PS. I’m 68 years OLD, EXPERIENCED, and WISE. I was born “thinking outside the box”. You, and ESPECIALLY KIRT have my un-devided attention. Thanks for ALL you guy’s efforts, and you definitely have a niche in the UTUBE world!

Ps. Tell Kurt that the Thrust has an 84 volt, 30 AH battery, and the two controllers push 500 amps, each, all in a 64 pound, two- wheeled e-scooter. This thing has imported REAL rubber Italian made “slicks”, which, my brother, is totally necessary for practical power-transference. Shoulder displacement IS a concern during launch. BUT! It has a big BROTHER! The RE-90. Both are limited to 80 mph in the United States

@josh2460
@josh2460 3 жыл бұрын
@@notryanweisgerber1985 I’ve never owned or worked with one, I’m not sure how they work (other than a typical drive shaft and knowledge of car/truck drive shafts) but I’m not sure how they connect to both engine and wheel or the spacing needed for them, I know belt is very similar in size and shape and how it preforms to chain just with a reduction in noise, I’m sure shaft driven bikes are fantastic, with less maintenance and a more responsive throttle but I don’t know enough about them to give an opinion or answer

The motor is 120nm max, which is 88.5 ft lbs. with 600 amps at the motor (the controller is rated to do) it should be fairly close to that with slight losses. All of those types of questions are still to be answered for sure

Running at 35% power! Didn't lose a single volt over 12 miles and estimate a 0-60 in 3 secs? Yeeeha this is what I've been wanting to hear before I smash my credit card and start a build. Thanks so much for continuing with this project! Hope you take it all the way now to completion now, then you can use it to commute about on, maybe even race it against the merc lol. Awesome guys well done, thanks for banging out these videos, feels so close now. I like the rear end, it needs a number board on it like a ducati, think that would look ace.

Small Recommendation: As long as your building the bike out and riding with others (and maybe with yourself as well), Carry about 100ft of battery cable (not high voltage), some electrical tape, a small toolbox with the sizes you use on the bike, and a crimper. I've seen too many builds get sidelined from a wire that slips out, or a part that shakes loose, and then you're waiting for something as simple as a crimper to reseat a wire and be on your way.

you mentioned that you turned down the controller to keep it from cutting out, you said a couple of videos back that the controller was possibly faulty, have you replace the controller yet?

Awesome looking bike! Not sure about the rules in America, but I assume it won’t be road legal? If this was to be done in Australia, it would be almost impossible to get it road registered, without fully engineering everything, unless it was registered to start with as a stock bike and hopefully I one ever pulled you over?

If you use Samsung 40T 21700 batteries, you could easily get a 200 mile range bike with three times the power. Yes expensive but imagine hitting 60mph at 3 seconds at almost silent operation. Not only that, they're far better quality than all those cells people recommend for a battery pack from China. I have a electric go kart. There's 40 Samsung 40T batteries in the pack. That's 160000mah capacity and each battery is 25A. That's 1000 amps. The controller is made by a Japanese company that can handle 2400 amps and was designed for electric cars. We hit 138mph restricted on it and can do 0-60mph in 4 seconds.

No doubt! We tried to keep the cost as low as possible, so a $4000 battery was out of the budget
@JasonWW2000
@JasonWW2000 3 жыл бұрын
It would only be 160,000mAh (160Ah) at 4.2v. When wired in series the capacity does not increase. I guess you wired it to 84v max (20x2)? That would be 8,000mAh (8Ah) @ 84v. Same is true for amperage. At 84v you only have 50A, not 1000A. 40 x 21700 cells is a tiny battery pack. even if you spent $4,000 and bought 400 of the 40T cells you would only have 80Ah which is smaller than their first battery pack (90Ah). Now you see why they chose the LiFePO4 cells over 21700.

@@LordCurt not even close. Only way to get 1000amps out of 40 25a cells is 1s40p I doubt he's running a 3.2 volt pack. He doesn't even have the specs correct - those are 35a cells. I suspect he's trying to repeat something he misheard, and does not understand. I'm calling bullshit.

you said it is 40kWh battery (you probably ment 14kWh) , but isnt it more like 12,24 kWh ? 102V nominal x 120mAh = 12 240 ... but still , thats just ridiculous amount and I love it.. range would be absolutely stunning, I am making battery 1kWh for my bike, that has 800w motor.. this bike has a potential for what ? 240miles+ i would say.. very nice
@LordCurt
@LordCurt 3 жыл бұрын
I heard 14! Pretty much all battery and motorcycle manufacturers fudge the numbers by calculating based on peak voltage. It’s dishonest, but to honestly compare to other bikes you have to do the same, haha. You’re absolutely right, however.

Describe battery capacity in Wh (watt-hours), not Ah (amp-hours)!!! A "90Ah" battery doesn't mean anything unless you also know the voltage. It could be around 90Wh (1V) or 90000Wh (1000V)
@LordCurt
@LordCurt 3 жыл бұрын
He told you both the voltage right before (“doesn’t mean anything unless you know the voltage”) and the capacity in watt hours immediately afterward. Otherwise, you’re absolutely right about what you said, it just doesn’t apply here since you should have heard both of those pieces of missing information

@@TheInja that must be great. Converted your car from gas to ethanol? Needs paperwork. To EV? Needs new documents. To Diesel? Nonono, diesel cars are ILLEGAL! Japanese kei cars? That's absurd, an engine has to be at least 1000cc to run. Chopped your bike's frame to make a cafe racer? You can't license it unless you pay ~1000 dollars in inspections.
