It's still fascinating to me that these manufacturers are switching away from real buttons and knobs and dials and go for touch screen interfaces. I haven't met anyone who actually likes it. Reviewers certainly don't. None of them go: "Wow, a real button? I wish it was a touch screen instead!" - it's just... dumb cost-cutting.

@@banme2784t's not about getting used to it, being young, or being technologically adept. It's about safety. This is the one thing that almost all the car reviewers agree on: touchscreen controls for climate control and other frequently used features are just more dangerous. You simply cannot "feel" where the knob or button is and operate it and still keep your eyes on the road. Every single second that your eyes are off the road is dangerous. Accidents happen in a split second.

Hey, no Ferrari fan here but you sure the beeping at the start isn't the seat belt warning? You're supposed to put it on before you start the car, so most cars bong unless you have it on before you start. Some have software hacks to get around that (OBD II stuff) but it's not necessarily across the board. The bongs in this seem irritating so the complaint is warranted on that part, but ultimately you're probably hearing bongs because you're not following what should've been your entry level driving class instructions: get everything setup before you start the ignition.

Well, Harley-Davidson already has multiple electric offerings. Honda, Ducati, BMW, Kawasaki, Yamaha, etc. all then either already have electric models as well or have them planned & on the way in the next couple years. @@___echo___ Before I give my idea about the mechanical reasons, I'll note that every automotive journalist has said this time and time again for every one of these hybrid supercars, they have no steering feel, perhaps with the exception of the holy trinity. But yes to the SF90, the Artura, the NSX, and the 296GTB. I think the reason is that the electric motors are connected to the front wheels, one motor to each wheel so that torque vectoring is possible. The problem with doing this is that if you tuned the steering rack to be responsive you'd feel the wheel yanking itself out of your hands every time the torque vectoring engaged while going around a corner, so they have to essentially have the steering be overly boosted to the point where it's completely numb and doesn't react to what the front wheels are actually doing, in the same way that a stick on a game controller doesn't react to what your character in the game, there's no feedback.

The way Ferrari has done the electric motor in this car and the hybrid system is exactly the way motor enthusiasts want. Insane sound and insane acceleration, still lightweight, and handles like a dream. The interior is a step-down. In my humble opinion, the GTC4Lusso era is the peak Ferrari interior, especially with the tanned leather. Smart screens, but physical buttons, and good looks.

It is amazing to see how much technology came from the F1 series into production vehicles. I just get that claustrophobic feeling in these cars, being 6'4" and not all that flexible it is a car for me to enjoy by looking at it.

Super excited for this video, because my dream was to someday do a built motor in my WRX, a built EJ, but now that has shifted to someday I want to electrify it. I really hope more and more people develop kits and systems that can be easily put into any car. As motors and batteries get smaller, seems logical. In my perfect world it'd be 4 small motors, but I'd be fine with even 1, because I like symmetrical AWD.

Yeah definitely with you there on the touch screen vs actual buttons- anything I *need* to operate while driving I need to be able to do without looking away from the road, you need to be able to adjust the climate control to keep the windscreen clear/to stop yourself boiling alive so that needs to be something you can do by touch. I jsut think it's really dangerous to have design features that require the driver to look away from the road whilst driving.

What I like about these hybrids versus the toyota's hybrid synergy drive tech, with these the engine isn't totally dependent on the battery to run, if the battery runs out or something's wrong you can still drive the car with the engine.

Personally. I’m way more interested in plug-in hybrids than EVs. Not all are good, of course, but I’ve seen some awesome ones! They feel way more practical for the majority of use cases than a full EV. Obviously there’s nothing practical about THIS hybrid, since it’s a Ferrari and they don’t make practical anything… but it’s the same idea. We need more cars like that. This car looks awesome. I wouldn’t buy one (if I could, I mean, because I can’t) mainly because I’d be afraid to park it anywhere but also because those stupid capacitive buttons are so much less safe and more obnoxious. Capacitive buttons are not part of the 20% or so of a Tesla that’s worthy of copying, but rather the 80% that’s terrible.

I'm hoping that rotary engines might come back with these hybrid performance cars. They are super small and light while still producing good power, which is perfect for hybrids giving more space for batteries and motors while still keeping the weight down. And of course you also get the amazing exhaust sound

@@saftschubse9575 you're right I don't know shit about emission regulations, especially not in countries other than the US. Isn't mazda putting a rotary in the mx30 though? I know the mx30 is far from a sports car but maybe if it works well they will stick the hybrid rotary setup in a sportier car

@@GTXgb-gt8lz Yes but it is not relased yet and it would just be a range extender with 15 kw of power. Such a tiny motor whiche can ne perfectly optimised for a constant rpm has much less emissions than a 20 Times more powerfull engine which has to be responsive and work are different rpms. Sorry for beeing a bit offensive in my Last reply. I Just don't think that a Rotary engine has a Future expecially because combustion engines already have No Future.

True, the Tesla is an insane drag race car and not as agile on a track like Willow Springs or Laguna Seca, but it not designed to be. Like you said, it's a 4 door sedan designed as a family car for daily driving. And it's amazing that it can keep up with full-on sports cars at all. The Tesla Plaid did amazing at the Nurbergring and at Willow Springs for such a heavy sedan. Let's see how the Tesla Roadster does next year.

Me when I heard about the tiny range of the electric motor: "What the hell is that even for?!" Me after I hear MKB explain the residential pull in/out reason: "Alright cool. I hate those loud ass engine noises, so this is a wonderful compromise, but I really hope people use it for that, because if it's not used, then it's pointless"

Actually, the point is that it gives you the instant high torque off the line that a gas engine can't produce until its revs get up into its power band. Without that innovation, even the most powerful sportscar would get embarrassed by an ordinary Tesla.
