Jay Park is so delusional. To put things in context: my 45 year old African father knows BTS and is even siting their work in his PhD, He knows Sonny because any fan of the Premier League is a fan of Sonny, He’s a fan of the film Parasite. Obviously he won’t really know much about the gamer because of the generational differences but can you see the impact of all the other top 4. My father would not know the name Jay Park from any other Korean name. Update: my father has finally submitted his PhD proposal and it got approved. He’s graduating as a Dr.

It would have been so easy to go for the kill but she held back. She showed Jay Park attempting to dance his lil heart out, bless him. What she left out was Hobi and him dancing side by side on the same show where they were dancing to JP's song and choreo that Hobi recently learned on the spot. Then Hobi ate him up like a Sunday brunch while he was trying to keep up on his own song.

That's what Jay Park's fans didn't get. BTS has had to walk minefields before because people asking ignorant questions that no one in their right mind would ever answer. Namjoon has taught them how to move like Randy Moss thru the line in his heyday. They know how to say what they want to say but in a way to be respectful. Hobi is very wise and saw that pittrap and danced it perfectly.
@jennaeveliina313 Жыл бұрын
But other Asian artists had to go through that as well, and even with Jay, while he was signed to rock nation, and doing his promotions, American radio/tv hosts kept asking him all the same lame ignorant questions. And later on, on top of that, asking "are you from BTS" "Do you know BTS" "Do you know the members" "what do you think about BTS". And even with all that, he just let it go and said he happy to see other Korean musicians to reach the west. This isnt about who more "opressed" and in wich order, what really bothers me is that other ARMYs(some) are shitting on this man, without an actual logical reason, its "just to 'protect' BTS and theyre Journey" and thats fine in some cases, but in this case, these people are doing it with the expense of Jay's Journey. And then to talk about being 'disrespectfull'.. dont they see the irony. Theres a short video called something like "Jhope said Jay Park paved the way for him" and what they talk in that, about this song and lyrics, would shut down this entire conversation, but even with that, there will be people who spread *ish on him, while using BTS as their argument. As an ARMY, that makes my blood boil.
@ebony7177 Жыл бұрын
@@jennaeveliina313 Many ARMY dislike him because he was and has been super disrespectful to the black community and black women. Also your own statements explain why him adding himself into the equation is ridiculous. BTS never got a question about are they "insert other Asian artist here" and the reason for that is the last any remembered at that time was Psy. Stupid as much of western media are they aren't mistaking BTS for Psy. Jay Park has no real foothold in the US so to add his name to other Korean people who have left a mark globally where even many GP will go "Oh that's the director/soccer star/music group/gamer" isn't warranted. I actually saw the whole JHope and Jay Park show and what you saw in the video was basically what Hobi said. BTS don't usually say people "paved the way" for them except Seo Taiji, Psy and Tiger JK (grandfather of the rap movement in SK). BTS has never mentioned Jay Park really. When they talk rap they mention mostly US rappers along with Epik High and Tiger JK. That's because when you start mentioning individuals you get hate from others just because you haven't mentioned someone else so they tend to mention no one. The three I mentioned are ESTABLISHED AS LEADERS OF THE KPOP "MOVEMENT" so to say them and it being true isn't disputable.

@@ebony7177 all of this isnt something im going to debate over, nobody said he has done something to the US music market, but the things he has achieved in South Korea, are the ones that has made the industry and artists respect him. And the fact that he did this without being signed to any of the major labels. People always say how disrespectfull he has been to this or that person, but ive yet to seen any actual incidents of that. Youre definetly entitled to keep youre opinion about him, im not asking you to like him or to agree with me. Im just sayin that its quite ridiculous how some of the ARMYs cry about "the disrespect" when in turn, they are doing the same exact thing, most if them talking about things that they clearly have not researched. It is what it is. And thankfully, all of us like different artists for different reasons, and thats the way most of them are able to provide for themselves and people around them. There are artists that i absolutely refuse to support, because of their beliefs and actions and Jay is not one of them. So far, most of what he has received through his career, he has been giving back to the community. Thats one of the reasons i support him. Same reason that goes with me and BTS.

You're talking about SK but the video was talking about GLOBALLY. He hasn't done the same job in the West to be added to the list. My comment was talking about how Hobi danced thru answering the Jay Park question. If you're ARMY you should know the guys NEVER talk about people paving the way. Namjoon read a comment in chat saying bts paved the way and the swarm of hate he received just a few weeks ago is insane. Love that you love Bora’s pettiness, she is indeed a force to be reckoned with. It is kind of ironic of Jay Park to come around and say he should be part of the South Korean elite when he is been caught up making nasty comments about Koreans, women, and some racist sh*t too. Let's not forget he is from Seattle and he was only able to make a name in the Korean music industry because it is not as big or influential as the American one. If he were to try and enter the American industry he’d be in trouble. No one denies his trajectory in the Asian hip-hop history, and the impact he had on Khip-hop, but his work remains a niche thing (Asia), still not big enough to put him in the same sphere to be considered part of the elite. Most of these rappers, including Jay Park, have a notion of hip-hop but I don't think they even know or care about the main pillars of the genre, which showcases their true approach to the culture. Plus, BTS have been students for years, they keep working on their craft, perfecting their skills. There is a story that was shared a couple of times (during the first years after BTS’s debut) where Yoongi said that, back when he and Namjoon were still underground rappers, people were scared to go against RM during battle raps because he was really good and still a teenager, still underage, and he became even better after years of hard work and dedication. Anyway, it is always a pleasure to see you react to Bora and hear your thoughts, it adds another layer of spiciness to the conversation. Tons of love to you.

Since it’s in Korean, RM’s age was probably 13 years old, unless it was after his birthday (Sept 12). What a legend lol

You're correct, Juice happened to be in Korea for something and had the time to go through with their plans of making this track for the BTS World game. While the soundtrack was released in June of 2019, most of the songs were recorded before Jan. of 2019, one of these songs being 'All Night'. I also think the song with Zara was done in 2018 as well. There were some behind footage where they talked about this. And they even had a clip of Juice in the studio with Namjoon and Yoongi when they were recording. The Suga x Juice collab was planned, and I think... I don't remember exactly what was said, but I think Suga managed to get his part off to Juice, but sadly tragedy struck and it wasn't able to be finished- whoever put together that last album, put it together and Yoongi was notified I'm pretty sure. After that, he went solo but he wasn't really trained well in rap so it was his R&B music that kept his career alive. His rap was so bad, his fans kept telling people to give him some time to improve...while he actively acted like he's the best rapper in K-pop. The thing is, even in the Korean hip hop scene, he's only friends with the macho b1tches that appropriate black hip hop as an aesthetic and every time he's around normal rappers like J-Hope, there's zero chemistry. People didn't have a problem with Jay Park for years, he does make good club songs and most considered his f_ckboi antics funny rather than problematic. But then he started yapping about BTS and how he deserves to be named in the same conversation because BTS are only K-pop and he's a real artist... that's when folks turned on him and now, most of his remaining international fans are BTS-haters. He gets decently booked in SK but internationally, he has to tell people that he's signed with this and this label bc nobody even knows him.

Someone that thinks like Jay Park will never understand what really moves an audience when it comes to hiphop.

JPark plays both sides, picking up and putting down his heritage whenever he thought it would suit him, like freaking JLo. He built a legit business and made listenable music; but his ambitions were bigger than his abilities and really thought he could just demand the top slot without the influence and impact. He imitates the shallowest definition of the genre and culture but didn't realize that only works for ⚪️ rappers in the US. He fell for the model minority okie doke, thinking that as long as he's not ⚫️, the fame and recognition would just be handed to him. Seeing as he was born and spent a significant amount of time in the US, he'd know better. I've got no sympathy.

>_< Coming from an older kpop, kmusic fan, Jay Park talking about authenticity is nuts. His older songs has some bobs but it's music that are just vibey, not something you go to for substance or to to hear anything profound. I have respected that he's managed to stay around and build up business but he just cannot accept that he is not this massive historical figure and thinks too highly of himself lol. Also at times I feel like he tries to jump onto 88 rising and take credit for asian hip hop artists growing in the US. He's conveniently dropped Korea and the US where it fits him and in his label and artists he opts to fully embrace cultural appropriation in the worst ways despite at the core of it, he is AMERICAN. He fully knows what it is. The DNA remix thing is a prime example. He could have fully gone the route of talking about being Korean American and explored his identity crisis and had his artists go that direction but it went into this weird culture vulture direction for no reason. I don't say that lightly as a person who is Chinese jamaican, where we frequently export culture and like cultural appreciation. And he constantly inserts himself with bts and fully does it for clout.... I also just want to say in Korea, Jay Park's rap is made fun of as a joke because of the writing and his Korean wasn't good... IU gets more rap cred.

I've known of Jpark since back in the day when he was with 2pm.. never liked the group and never really followed Jpark, but somehow I stumble on him against my will 🤣 The thing about him is that he certainly has achieved a lot... For himself! He was ostracised in the past for being american, he then left his group (or was kicked out?) and made a name for himself, building his own record label and grinding his way up. That's all very cool, and i'd ay he's very well known now within the Korean hiphop scene but that's it. I'd say he's on par with Zico in terms of reputation over there? There are much more famous and downright legendary figures like Tiger JK over there, JPark doesn't even come close. He's not really known abroad, people don't associate Korean hiphop with Jpark, that's just ridiculous. Him saying this is preposterous, and just insulting to all the artists who actually managed to make an impact, including the many who have achieved much more than him, within korea! I need jessi to go humble him, she's good at it and he needs it.

Now that mad comments are telling you Juice collabed with the rapline in early 2019, you should definitely check that song out. It's called "All Night" but j-hope isnt on it, it's just Suga Rm and Juice. To be completely honest I dont think the second song Suga did with Juice Wrld after he passed is as good as All Night. It's not bad at all but you can tell the boys had a lot more raw musical chemistry when they recorded the first one. All Night just feels more authentic. If you wanna hear joon rap about hunching All Night is the song for you 🤣

The audacity of Jay Park talking about “authenticity” in k-hip hop when his whole career is full of appropriation, unearned arrogance, and cheesy, misogynistic lyrics. 🥴 (gems like “yo girl a turkey on my d*ck, gobble gobble”) He’s an American who couldn’t cut it in the USA so he took his small-fish ass and went to an even smaller pond in Korea. He doesn’t appreciate the artistry of hip hop, nor does he care to do the work to understand it- he just knows he can get away with his caricature of a performance because his audience isn’t familiar with legit hip hop and doesn’t have many (actually talented) people to compare him to. Like, I’m a great dancer if you have no idea wtf dancing is. 😒 (I wrote this comment before the video was finished so a lot of this was said, but I didn’t want to waste my comment so I’m posting anyway lol) Anyway- he annoys me but I find comfort in the fact that Jay Park will never, ever be as unbothered as he desperately pretends to be. 😌
