Eddie Fadal was a theater owner, disc jockey, and the sports writer for a local newspaper in Waco Texas.
His relationship with Elvis Presley began in 1956. He was a disc jockey at KRLD in Dallas,Texas, and Elvis was making the rounds. He had a lot of success in Texas, and Eddie met him at the radio station where he was promoting some records. Eddie liked his voice and thought he had great promise.
Elvis performed concerts in Waco’s Heart O’ Texas Coliseum during those years and each time visited the Fadal home before and after his concerts. At Elvis’ invitation, Eddie accompanied him on tour during those days, as a trusted friend and traveling companion.
When Elvis was drafted into the United States Army in 1958, and stationed at nearby Fort Hood, he would often get away to the Fadal home on the weekends. Sometimes, during that six-month stint, he would unexpectedly show up in the middle of the week if he could get a day off from the base, along with his relatives and friends who often accompanied him to Waco
I’m delighted to be joined by Eddie’s daughter, Janice for this episode as she shares her memories of those days when she was a little Girl and Elvis called and stayed at her home.

Thank you for this Steve, i love hear any stories connected with Elvis like we all are but im learning so much more i didn't know expect from books and you know how long its took me to get some books cos i thought for a long long time that they wouldn't be true or like anything that might upset me. I was only 8 when he went and like you said om here you remembered the day he died and i was so devastated, it came out the blue for us as my mam was devastated as well, Awwwwww thats brilliant Eddie was on Elvis's hand who he trusted 100%. Thank you Janice, its been an absolute pleasure to hear you talk. Also one thing Steve all the people who have spoken to you are the most loveliest people. I think you can pick up when they talking at how nice Memphis people are. Brilliant and now ill listen tp stax part 2 oh wait no cos my phones nearly dead and im upstairs to get a shower so ill catch up om it later xxx

Just love these stories! Elvis was so humble & never considered himself above anyone! This is one of his qualities that is evident in every story that we hear about him! It is so true that we still discover new things about him today! That is why he will never leave our hearts! God used Elvis as a vehicle of His love! Elvis had a job to do & eventhough he is no longer with us, he is still doing that job with his music & in all the stories we hear about him! There is something so divine about that! This lady is so blessed, not only because she got an "Elvis kiss" , but because she got to see our dear friend as he really was & she has such great memories! Come to think of it, there is no difference in Elvis' behavior when he was among friends like this & when he was on stage! Elvis was the original genuine article! Also, after all the folks who hung around Elvis for "the gravy train" , it is so good to hear that Mr. Fadal was a loyal friend who loved Elvis for himself & was there for him when he needed him! Well Steve, from one fanatical "Elvis nerd" to another, this episode is another WINNER! Thanks so much!🎸🎶

Elvis was such a unique human being in many ways!! There has been no artist before or since who loved his fans sooo much!! And never forgot if it wasn't for them he wouldn't be what he became!! He was considerate to a fault !! I remember the story when roy Hamilton passed away and he sent his wife red roses for six months!! It's so sad his mum couldn't handle his fame!! It must of been dreadful for him to go back to base!! After his mum passing !! Not having any real time to grief!! There relationship was unique but I can see why !! With loosing Jesse!! Somethink you truly wouldn't get over!! She also lost her parents when she was young !! A lot of heartache to say the least !! Great to see what they done with the house!! Ta steve👍🏿

I hate when people say Colonel Parker created Elvis. Even some entertainers have said they only wish they had a Colonel Parker to make them a big of a star as Elvis. That's bull. Colonel knew he won the lottery when he signed Elvis. Elvis made Colonel and not the other way, is the way I see it. This podcast interview was a great insight to some of that. I really enjoyed hearing the real Elvis in these stories.

@@CG-tm4lq do you really believe that is Elvis? Pastor Bob has said that he is not, although he tries hard to seem like he is, with his actions. Bob resembles Elvis'. The shape of the teeth is not even close. The nose is similar but when looked at nose to nose, without the whole faces, it's not that close really. Elvis had pronounced cheekbones, even when overweight, and Bob really is not even close there. If you really believe that's Elvis, that's your right. It is my belief that he is in a better world with his beloved mother and other family members and friends.

Sonny West said that initially Elvis really wanted to do A Star Is Born, but later had second thoughts and asked Parker to get him out of it.

That's because Parker got in his ear, and had everything to do with him changing his mind.

Elvis worked himself to death. That saddens me.

Nothing is the way it seems. A person this famous is controlled by powerful forces, that made him famous to begin with. Elvis was living so many lies & stories printed about his love life, to sell teenage magazine also. Elvis was the first star to have so much merchandising surrounding his image, like a Micky Mouse character. Pricilla's family got very wealthy exploiting a dead man who cant speak for himself. Elvis also seems to have a camera man around promoting his image for fame & cash. The camera man even gets Elvis picture of him at the hospital finding out about his moms death & Vernon approaching him. He was in full uniform! Now Elvis had to stage that himself. Billy was with Elvis & Elvis got the call & sped to the hospital early 3am or so. Elvis & Vernon were all cleaned up & shaven & Elvis in uniform to reenact the death news. They even let the camera man take pictures of Elvis & Vernon crying on the Graceland front steps. NOTHING is what it seems, but what sells a story & brainwashes the public. I think Elvis knew he sold out & gave away so much because of the karma attached to it. He WAS once a good southern boy.
