Yukime offered shadow a chance to screw over both mitsugoshi and the grand trade federation(which of course, is run by the cult). Both companies were about to start a war, and Yukime and Cid/shadow/john smith were going to steal the profits. The reason Cid agreed is because he didn't think his friends had a chance anyway. He doesn't realize that shadow garden is already the first or second most powerful organization in that world. He thinks they'd lose, so his solution is to collapse both companies with Yukime and then hire them in that company, basically ressurect the mitsugoshi company and save his friends from bankruptcy, except with him and Yukime in charge. Yes he's partially motivated by greed, but who isn't. The only difference between the wn and ln is that wn cid knows printing fake bills will collapse both companies, while ln cid thinks it'll only hurt the trade alliance. This change was made because a lot of people were pissed off at Cid for betraying his friends. Both versions have the same outcome. Alpha comes to fight Cid, gets stomped, and begins crying because she thinks he's abandoning him. She gets so depressed that she basically plans for her and the rest of sg to commit suicide, until the letter Cid gave them explains things. And by explain, I mean makes them misunderstand again. Earlier Delta came to kill "John Smith" and take the gold, but upon realizing john smith is Cid tries to flee. Cid sends her to take out juggernaut in order to buy time. This causes shadow garden to think she's dead until she returns. Later she comes back, and it turns out she took the money from Cid anyway without him realizing it. Cid freaks out, and when he hears gettan kidnapped Yukime, naturally assumes it's his doing. So he comes to rescue her and the gold. The misunderstanding causes Yukime to fall in love with him, and later when Alpha explains that Shadow own mitsugoshi they just assume he planned everything. Meanwhile, our "protagonist", runs like hell to Oriana to play and wait for Alpha to calm down, as he naturally assumes she's mad at him.

Cid is trash there is nothing to defend him ,he was mad that Shadow garden created Mitsugoshi and are getting a lot of money, he was planning to get all the money ant returns later to help* them like a hero. Well Cid is trash since always he doesn't care about them just about his fantasy

The anime probably make some people confused cuz it's only mentioned, but Gettan didn't killed everyone in the village the war between the higher clans did that(though it was a setup from the cult too) he only killed her mother because she refused the cult proposal though it's the right choice but it led to the massacre of the two villages which what made gettan mad at her, in the end he was also manipulated by the cult, if it isn't because of the cult Gettan and Yukime would live a normal happy life.

@@Reaperherpderp tbh i would rather have that than those young male characters who just can't control their desire for sex and just easily seduced and manipulated by females we have a lot of that already, for example Denji and lot of MC of harem animes especially when one of the harem are Yandere or Tsundere 100% that guy would be controlled through sex and is the type of male character who is too soft and got slapped around for accidently saw his girl's panties even though it was the girl's fault , we don't need more of that sure Denji is realistic or whatever but in the end that's not really a good thing either to tell young men to be easily swayed by sex and can't control their desire , we need more male character who is just not driven by desire of sex, who stay true to his goals no matter what happens. I mean if there can be a strong independent woman who don't need man in movies or anime then the reversed doesn't sounds unrealistic, even though both doesn't sound good to me.

this arc is the hardest one for me to watch..shadow garden suffer so much bcuz of cid chunnibyo but yeahh still in the end its for the better their and company become much stronger..but i hate to see alpha suffer man..that rough..

In this arc, cid is out smart everyone. Yukime told cid that MCA targets Mitsugoshi. And he knows the only way to bring MCA down is by using inflation. And MCA might know the connection between shadow garden and Mitsugoshi company. That's why he uses yukime and wrote an encrypted letter to beta. But he didn't expect that beta could encrypt that letter. In the end, he is out smart everyone.

I hate this particular episode in the adaptation, whether it's Web Novel, Light Novel, or even Manga, this fight has a lot of meaning for Alpha. Cid, excluding anime, always uses Alpha as his benchmark when fighting someone, in his fight against Alpha, Cid even acknowledges Alpha is growing strong very fast and he says that to Alpha, not only in his mind, as Alpha is the only opponent that manages to land hit on him (albeit he's not serious yet) and force him to use his actual weapon of choice which is blade. I hate that in the anime, even when Alpha manages to land a hit on Cid, they show as if Alpha is just "another weakling", no she's not, you can challenge authority in Shadow Garden, and Alpha manages to stay at the most top seat because no one can beat her, this including Delta. TO BE FAIR tho, in anime, explaining things, adding monologue and useless banter would only make the fight seem boring, and a lot of fight scenes are WAAAY better in anime, if we follow the source material, all of the fight scenes would just be ended within 30 seconds, it's just the way they treated Alpha is a little disappointing.

​@@andreainter4988tbh that bit doesn't really matter as they recognize him in a different manner. Alpha recognizes cid through his power, techniques, abilities and probably instinct. Delta on the other hand just has to get a bit closer to him bc she's a beastkin. She probably didn't need to get closer, I think she was just too absorbed and excited about the fight so she didn't notice right away.

I don't have any complain about John vs Alpha but it would have been nice if he would mention something about Alpha's improvement in combat, I mean, he at least had something to say about the princess development but not Alpha? At least in the manga if I remember it was kinda hinted that she is at a lvl where for Cid to beat her without receiving damage he would need to use the sword (his specialty) and not any experimental weapon, not that he can't beat her without the sword but it would be exponentially harder.
