Brookeeee I am extremely comforted seeing your period problems… I hate to say I found joy in it because I absolutely do not but I am astounded at how similarly I feel on my period and it SUCKS. Literally no control over any emotion and absolutely everything feels so important and so so terrible. Like anything that could go wrong is going wrong and everything is terrible, on top of knowing you’re acting hysteric but literally not being able to stop it because it feels so consuming. It sucks. I cried because the sofa wasn't comfortable enough... cried because my bf had eaten the last biscuit... cried when he brought me ice cream... was worried my neighbours thought I was crying because the queen was dead

Hey Brooke! I totally get what you mean by PMS on steroids - I have a severe case of PMDD, which is, for me, being in extreme PMS basically always, except when I’m on my period (where I have pretty intense cramps). It took 6 years for me to finally find the right docs & get my health on check. Imagine that weekend, but for 6 years. I felt like I was absolutely losing my mind, except for small moments of clarity when on my period. I lost jobs, relationships, my sense of self… but I’ve been on the right treatment plan for more than a year now and worked a lot on myself, and I’m at my best place mentally than I’ve ever been since it’s started. All of that being said, whenever I have flair ups, I feel exactly like you described still, and for some reason, when you’re in it, it’s so hard to remind ourselves that it’s not the end of the world/not permanent/we’re not going crazy. It’s like we’re in a trance. So I fully sympathize, and wanted to let you know there’s 8% of the menstruating population that has PMDD (not everyone is a severe case, most aren’t actually). It’s a really overlooked condition because traditionally, doctors have been men telling us that « it’s all in our heads » and that it’s « lady problems », so they don’t investigate. For those of us who have it, it’s not a life sentence, it’s actually pretty manageable in most cases & with following the adequate treatment plan. Also for my PMDD folks: if nothing’s seeming to work, don’t give up, see other docs (it took me lots of specialists before someone finally put the finger on it, even though I strongly suspected it for a while), and look into BIOIDENTICAL HORMONES. Progestine won’t do shit for a lot of peeps, but bioidentical hormones do! It’s a new technology and wow it saved my sanity. That + the rest of the treatment plan, but that was the decisive factor for me. I’m not a salesman btw, I’m just someone really pissed off I (and most of my docs) had never heard of it before. Hope it can help someone, and bring visibility to PMDD! Also Brooke, love you knitting Queen 💕

Girl, it sounds like you might have PMDD. I suddenly had it in my early 30’s. It’s not just “bad PMS”. For me, it’s insomnia, feeling like relatively minor things are a WAY bigger deal than they are, and life-threatening depression. The good news is that there are ways to treat it (Spravato has massively helped me)! Might be worth looking into. You don’t deserve to feel so terrible. ❤️

This might get buried but Brooke should ask her doctor about adding Wellbutrin to her prescription of anti-depressants. Lots of people have weight fluctuations on anti-depressants( Ethan Klein) but Wellbutrin can really help with that. Good luck 👍
