This unboxing preview is for the End and the Death Vol. 1 Siege of Terra Series of the Horus Heresy. This is the limited edition book from Games Workshop and the Black Library and we are winding down to the epic conclusion of Warhammer 30k. I am crazy excited to get into this book by Dan Abnett who started the over 60 book heresy series for us! Very fitting that he ends it with the final books. I can't wait to see what secrets he reveals about the Emperor of Mankind, Horus, the primarchs, and the rest of the plot threads.
In this video, I unbox the book and take a relatively spoiler free preview just focusing on the Dramatis Personae and some of the internal artwork.

Brother, do not stray from the Emperor’s light, for he protects. These limited editions are surely marked by slaanesh, a dark path indeed. I have delved too deep but there is still hope for you yet. (These books are awesome!, praised be to Him!)

I havent started End and the Death yet but I would say that I think Abnett is massively overrated by fans. Ive read Horus Rising, Legion, Know no Fear, and Saturnine and I can say his writing is rather mediocre. In terms of the Siege mainline novels I have only enjoyed LotD, Warhawk and EoE, while I found that both of John French's books were so bad I skipped them.

Ahh that is tough. Everyone has different opinions and that’s ok! For example, Saturnine and End and the Death are my two favorite books in the Siege. Though Warhawk and EoE I loved too. I don’t think all of Abnetts book are the best but that’s because ADB, Wraight and McNeil have also written some of my top tier books.

​@@theurgeartifacts I generally grade all authors now on a factor of are they ADB quality where you get a 5/5 for being like ADB or a 4/5 for being almost as good. A 3 or below I would consider a failure and not worth reading. What I would describe ADB is like is that I find a nice sunny August- Autumn day has a certain feeling it creates in me especially when im out in the woods. Its not something I can really properly describe but ADB books trigger that feeling in me. Warhawk or Angron: The Red Angel I would describe as 5/5 ADBs. The Crimson King is about 4/5 ADBs. Now the thing is that this rating system kinda a whole new ballpark when you score a 5/5 ADBs at which point you also gain a regular meter out of 100. Like I would rate Warhawk 90/100. Crimson King on the other hand has its own understanding only being 4.22/5 ADBs where you know this book is good and at some points great but its kinda missing that extra oomph. A 3.5/5 ADBs is generally the lowest score for consideration and its for books that are mediocre-good and its up to your personal taste if its going to be memorable or not. I mean I read Spears of the Emperor and then Echoes of Eternity and I felt like ADB just f'd my brains out that I needed to take a break from him thats how good he is. Thats when you go to a 4 or a 3.5 book.
