It's a bad book. Mostly 650+ pages of walking on the same spot, nothing progressing. And the end is a let down (although the cameo was unexpected).

Seeing Corswain and Sigismund team up may be only like 2 pages long; but it'll be a good 2 pages. Everyone just wants to get to the end; honestly I'd rather read a Horus Primarchs novel by Abnett, and an Abbadon one by ADB. They would probably both rather write those. The issue is Abnett doesn't have an editor. No one tells him no, which does him a disservice. Clearly people cut the Wraight bloat, or Haley, Annendale, or McNeil. There's a point where "Best BL author ever" seems unreal, while good Abnett is absolutely overrated, he doesn't play well with other authors, and I'm genuinely curious if one of the other authors couldn't have done this better. A shortened EATD without filler would make Abnett seem so much better, and this trilogy much more enjoyable.

This book has a really painful ending, sanguinius beaten like a dog, painful, i am in grief for the next year until November
